This guitar was probably made in Korea the early 1990's, but I'm not exactly sure. I purchased it used in 1994. I bought as my first guitar, and didn't really know what to look for in a guitar. The guitar looks great. It's shape is similar to an Ibanez. It's strat shaped, with deep cutaways, has a 24 fret neck, 2 humbuckers and a single coil, one volume and two tone controls, a Floyd Rose bridge, a five way selector switch and two coil tapping toggle switches. The body wood is mahagony with a maple cap, and the neck is of maple with a rosewood fretboard. This guitar is loaded with features.

Sound : 5
I play many different kinds of music, but mostly classic rock, and especially blues. I play through a true vintage 1966 Fender Twin Reverb Amp, or a Fender Deluxe with a Sans Amp distortion pedal. The pickups are of the poorest quality, and lack warmth and tone. The guitar looks like It could be used for heavy metal, but when the distortion is turned up, it really sounds bad.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
The wood is quality, and shows through the transparent, emerald green finish. As for the hardware, the Floyd Rose bridge is set way too high, but must be at this ridiculous height in order for the strings to be higher than the pickups.

Reliability/Durability : 5
The body and neck of this guitar are of great quality, but that's about all that is good. The electronics are garbage. The hardware is made of cheap metal (probably zinc), and the bridge saddles of the Floyd Rose bridge actally bend due to the string tension. Because of this, the guitar is constantly going out of tune. The gold plating is oxidized and flaking off on some parts of the hardware as well. This guitar is not reliable, and I wouldn't even think about playing it on stage.

Customer Support : 3
Vantage is such an obscure company, I couldn't get in touch with them if I wanted to.

Overall Rating : 4
I have been playing for 7 years, and this was my first guitar. I also own a Fender Strat plus, Fender Telecaster, Gibson Flying V, Gibson Jimmy Page Les Paul, Paul Reed Smith, and a Samick SG copy. This guitar is not nearly as good as a Fender of Gibson. When I compare the Vantage to these "real guitars," there's just no contest. I especially hate the Floyd Rose bridge on the Vantage and prefer the simplicity of a Gibson-style stop bar and tune-o-matic bridge. The only really cool thing about this guitar is that it is autographed by Steve Vai, which I got when I met him at a guitar store in 1998.
