This is a double-cutaway guitar, 24 frets, 2 humbuckers, two volume knobs, two tone knobs which also coil-tap.
The finish is a dark purple, looks black in some light.
I love the coil taps. I do wish I could switch between pickups faster, that drops the rating a point, as does the lack of a trem.
The tuners are nondescript but I have no problem with them, it stays in tune for weeks.
The 24 fret neck has the upper.fret dots on the bottom of the fretboard which is great, lots easier to see them.
Don't know what the wood is, but it's solid and it's heavy. I opened the back and it's solid through.
Sound

I play lots of things, surf, heavy, indie, and yes bluegrass. This guitar is quite versatile and with a little knob twiddling I can get the sound I like. I can even do a bluegrass-style opener and it still sound nice and clean, which is quite a trick for an electric.
It has a clean ringing sound in general, very full yet bright. I am happy with it. There is good distinction between hum and single-coil, and volume stays steady whether you're on single or double coil at a given setting.
Sustain keeps on keeping on.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The finish is superb. This piece has seen some action, I got it used, but no marks anywhere on it.
No flaws of any kind, it is set up well (perhaps on the high side for some, but OK for me), no buzzing, stays in tune forever.
Everything is tight and nothing rattles.
PUs seem well adjusted, there is no volume jump when you switch them, and they work and play well together. Since you can adjust volume independently you can mix/match/meld them in lots of ways and

Battleship. All is solid, tight, top rating.
Yes I would use it without a backup if I had to. But would rather have a backup. Still, if I had an out-of-towner and could take just one guitar, I would use this one with confidence.

No Opinion
To my knowledge the company is defunct so this is N/A.
Overall Rating

My other guitars are an Ibanez G10 HSS, which has a nice sound but uninspiring action, and a Behringer V-something which was super cheap and sounds it.
This Vantage is easily the best of the three. If it were stolen I would pretty much have to get something else since they are hard to find, probably a Hagstrom for the coil-tapping which I have gotten accustomed to.
I like the unusual looks, the nice long neck, the solid feel, the way I know that if I sound bad, it was me, not the guitar.
It's a tad on the heavy side but that's how you get that long, long sustain so that's OK. But after jamming for 3 hours you know about it.
If you see one that's in good shape, plunk for it, you'll be glad you did. If you have other brand-name guitars, this is a great backup that can do a lot of things. If you're moving up from cheap like I did, this is a good way to step up without spending the big bucks.
Bottom line, this is the guitar I end up playing most, and the only one I ever jam with.
