I got this guitar back in 1991 from a pawn shop in Monterey, CA for under $100.00. It's black with a white pickguard. I almost forgot what the pickguard color was because I drew all over the guitar with permanent markers and covered the guitar with retarded stickers. It gives me an awesome crunch with my Boss HM-2 distortion. I mean an awesome crunch. Real awesome crunch. Can I express this any more that I did?

Sound : 8
Well, since I stood it on its headstock, spun it around, and then kicked it while it was spinning, I broke the neck joint a little bit. But, it was nothing that a little bit of wood glue and clamps couldn't fix.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
Good action - my finish is really dented and bashed up because I would smash it against my amps

Reliability/Durability : 8
Good - see above

Flying V Copy
Alder or ash body

Gibson style bridge
3 per side sealed nonlocking tuners - proprietary
24.75" Scale alder neck with rosewood fretboard and 22 jumbo frets

All hardware chrome, vee-shaped strap buttons
Passive electronics, two volume, one shared tone control, three-way switch selects neck, bridge or both pickups
Dimarzio true humbucking pickups and electronics components
This guitar also has switches to select parallel or series pickup configuration

Sound : 7
Very full tone on this guitar, despite inexpensive reproduction pickups. Series, parallel switch coupled with pickup selector switch provides for a wide variety of tones well suited to most styles of music. Quite a clean sounding guitar, although has poor sustain, probably due to light materials and bolt on neck.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
Action is low with no buzzing. Pickups are too loose and cannot be smoothly adjusted at a level height without minor modification to the pickguard mount. Bridge slightly misaligned towards control side. Very easy to set up this guitar, truss rod adjustments are easy and sensitive. Frets are very high and can be filed repetitively before replacement. Holds accurate intonation well and is easily adjusted. Stays in tune for extended periods of hard play despite inexpensive reproduction tuning heads. I am concerned with the unnecessarily large routered chamber under the pickguard, as it appears to compromise the integrity of the guitar. I would be careful gigging hard with this axe.

Reliability/Durability : 6
Appears to have pretty standard Japanese reproduction quality and reliability. Reasonably good hardware, solid poly finish, quality screws and fittings. Well maintained, this guitar would be a reliable studio piece, might not want to rely on it on the road.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Warranty is long expired.

Overall Rating : 7
Been playing for 30 years, have built several guitars, repaired hundreds. Owned dozens of electric guitars and basses over the years. This one is a pretty standard 1980's Japanese guitar. Its made with relatively solid reliable components and is put together well. It can be easily maintained to play well with no problems. Excellent student model, beginner guitar with studio potential due to the wide variety of tonal control. I would recommend Vantage guitars for these qualities. Similar to an entry level Ibanez.

I bought this guitar when I was 15 in 1983.It was sitting next to another that had a blue finish.Of course, I bought the bright red one.It has the normal V twin humbucker config, with 2 volume, one tone, and a 3 way toggle that just gave out on me last week.I soldered it back together, but left it buried inside the body under a sticker covering the hole.Mostly for fear I will hit it and it will break again.I dropped a Seymour Duncan SH-6 in it after it was a year old. This thing has been abused for a long time, and been played to death. Its the only guitar I have right now.I've been playing this thing for 23 yrs now.

Sound : No Opinion
I only play metal really, and the guitar has more than enough crunch. It does lack in the sustain dept.,but I excuse it every time.A crate amp has almost always been the source for sound for this one,and it compliments it well.Never been dissapointed in any sound from this thing.Metallica crunch,Pantera squeals,it can handle it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Action was low and good from factory, and that has served as a benchmark for me when messing with other guitars. The Seymour did fit alittle loose at first, but I rigged the screw and spring a long time ago,and its tight enough.Body(red) is beat up from all the years.Hardware is slightly pitted(bridge),and tuners are not as good as others(g seems to creak and cry at times while stringing it up).Lost a saddle bolt(a string) a long time ago. Some uy at a guitar shop replaced it oversized.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I have no idea how many hours this thing has stood up,but its the only one I have now(used to have a Kramer for about 10 yrs),so you do the math.Neck strap button has failed a few times, but its got a serious wood screw holding it right now and ha not been a problem for a long time.I have played it live and stans up real well.I have never played live without a backup, and wouldn't.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never have dealt.

Overall Rating : 10
I really couldn't complain about it.I love it,scratches, dings and all.

The sound of the guitar suits me perfect, I play Metal, Rock (70-80's),Prog.Rock a.s.o
I use the guitar with a V-amp2 amp-simulator, It sounds great with it.
It's not noisy at all, It got a very Rich Blues/Jazz/Rock sound and you can use the guitar all the time !!
It's nothing that I dislikes.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
The guitar was pretty good set-up at the factory, It was produced in the same factory that the Japanese Ibanez, Epiphone a.s.o. were built at the end of the 80's !
The only thing that I dont like is that the guitar dose'nt have a Solid-body !! =(

Reliability/Durability : 8
I think I could ues the guitar Live, but not without a backup-guitar.
The hardware looks like it will last for some more years foreward.
But the finish........I should rip it of, it's soo darn ugly !!

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing now for about 1,5 year now, and I own some other guitars, a 7th-stringed Samick with floyd and stuff and som aucostic guitars !
If it where stolen I probably get something else if it where stolen or lost, because those guitars are hard to find here in sweden !

And I really wish it had some other tuners, those ones it haves now is really crappy !!

Everything you would expect from a V copy but nothing extra. I Bought it 2nd hand & got a case which Im fairly sure is original.
Finish is cream with a white scratchplate. The body seems to be solid wood (where I can see it through scratches & Chips and the neck is bolt on.

Sound : 8
A good range of sounds from crisp to muddy. The pickups are pretty good and dont get too noisy with distortion added. I mostly play metal/ doom and this is great for a classic rock kind of tone.
Sustain could be better but hey, this aint a Gibson.
I use an old 50 watt Miles Platting Valve head with a JSG 4 by 12 and various stomp boxes.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
Generally a solid guitar but the tailpiece fits a bit loose. The neck fits tightly, the action is good, the tuning pegs are tight and seem to be of good quality. However, the chromed finish is starting to blemish a little (but I have no idea how old it is) and the paint chips easily on the body's edges.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Apart from a slightly delicate finish (which doesn't bother me anyway) this guitar is spot on for gigs. I've played loads of times without a backup, knowing it wouldn't let me down and had no trouble at all. It stays in tune well (except that pesky G string), is light and the hard case means it can happily be chucked about during transit.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Had no dealings with them

Overall Rating : 8
I've had the V since about 1996 and its still going strong despite a little abuse since then. Its generally very good and is the best V copy I've played (except Epiphone for obvious reasons).
I'm actually looking to sell it, so if anyone knows what it might sell for in the UK, or wants to buy it please get in touch.

Made July 92 or so the factoy tells me. Says "Made in Japan on the neck bolt plate. 22 fret. Passive electronics, Wood is light weight but not mahogany. Don't know what wood was used. I looks to be solid. Painted "Opaque Red" with clear coat. A typical Flying "V" copy, controls and other hard ware look like Gibson "Vs". Independent Neck and Brige pickup volumes a common tone control. 3 position pickup selector. Both picups are dual coil humbucking open pole. Pickup are sloppy in there mountings, but they work ok. Solid tail piece is solid Gibson type with "Tunematic" bridge. 4 bolt, bolt on neck joint. Tuners seem smooth and are sealed. No tremolo No Locks. Neck is consideably thinner and narrower than the Gibson. Small frets but edges are nicely finnished as to not rip your hand open when sliding up and down the neck. I like that. 24.75" scale. Hard case was included. Bought it used.

Sound : 6
Very bright to dull and muddy. Has good range that way. I do 60's-80's top 40 rock. so theres a lot of variation there. I use a crate VC3112 with a Hugh& Ketner tube preamp. The guitar has some electromagnectic feed back (Sqeals with strings deadnd) at high gain and volume on the amp but its nothing out of the ordinary. Balance is neck heavy.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Bought it a pawn shop. So I can't tell you how bad the setup was!!! Action was laying on the frets, Wouldn't play at all. Bookmatched top?
Properly roughted bridge? Has a few nicks but over all is not beatup bad a all. It was a rusted and coroded mess. "A" string saddle screw is missing. ( stuck a wedge of paper to hold it in place ) Adjusted truss, filled "G"B"E" nut groves with epoxy and recut. and intonated. All is good now. Intoneation is good all the way up, That surpized me!

Reliability/Durability : 5
Hold up on stage well. Hardware looks typical, should last as long as the rest. Painted with clear. Will last in its case for a long time. Bar life is hard on finnishes. every thing seems solid enough and I never go with out a backup and this one is my backup. My main gutiar is a 75 reissue 61 Gibson SG but that one is whole nother story.

Customer Support : 5
I emaile the factory and was told the year. '92

Overall Rating : 7
I like Just fine. The ballance is neck heavy so I'll move the back strap button and the pickups are sloppy in there mounts so I'll adjust and fill with canning wax. This will make every thing solid and will quite down the feed back alot. I do this to all my guitars. Just don't let the wax into the control cavity.

I think it was probably made in the early '80, because I saw it first advertised in Guitar Player mag almost 20 years ago. It's stamped made in Japan. I'm not exactly sure what kind of wood it is? Maybe mahogany. The pickup and control configuration looks to be identical to the Gibson 67 flying v. The pickups sound half way decent, but are very cheap imitations of the Dimarzio. I had my bridge pickup replaced with a Gibson pickup out of an early 1990s Gibson V. The tone has some what improved, however, a better solution would be to drop a Seymour Duncan Distortion in it. The color is creme. The tuners are very cheap. I've owned the guitar almost 18 years and some of the tuners have fallen off and replaced throughout the years.

Sound : 7
It suits my musical taste just fine. I'm into Accept/MSG Eurometal style. I use a Line6 Flextone HD and a Peavey Classic 100 tweed head. The guitar through this rig sounds ok, nothing spectacular. You get somewhat of a bright sound that kind of reminds me of the popular guitar tone of the 1980s metal bands. Think of that cranked Marshall amp tone with a distortion pedal thrown in there. I can't seem to get any of the good modern tones of current crop of Metal bands out of it. Perhaps I should go ahead and swap the pickups out for a Duncan JB or a Duncan Custom. Sounds good for classic rock.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The guitar is well made I have to say and I've always enjoyed the great low action. It felt very comfortable.

Reliability/Durability : 8
This guitar has withstood almost 15 years of use in various live situations. I've had to contend with tuning problems but I've learned to live with it. It's been battered but has remained very true to me and has survived many beatings. After all that it's been through it still plays great. Even with some of the visible fret ware it's proven to be very dependable. Great finish. I would almost certainly use it as a backup, since I have three other great guitars I rely on for live situations.

Customer Support : No Opinion
NEVER HAVE

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing almost 18 years. I've got Marshall and Fender cabs. I own a Gibson SG Special Gothic with a Duncan JB in the bridge, Peavey Vandenberg with Duncan Distortion in the bridge, Fender Tom Delonge strat and a Dearmond M75. The Vantage vf575 is one of the best made Japanese guitars made, not to mention underrated. Check one out some time, that's if you can find one. I think they've been discontinued.

First of all this is a flying-v copy. Its a 22 fret I havo no idea about the history of this guitar. The finish is cream. I don't know about the pickup but they sound great. It doesn't have a lot of feature its a very good guitar.

23 frets. I think it was made in Japan. It has one tone knob and two volume knobs (one for each pickup). It has a 3-way selector. It has two humbucking pickups, possibly DiMarzio. I got it used so I'm not sure. It has a normal Flying-V body style with a pickguard. It doesn't have any kind of locking trem system and doesn't have any place to insert a tremolo bar. The neck is pretty thin, about the size of an Ibanez RG neck, because that's what I had before. It came with a hardshell case.

Sound : 10
My music style is heavy metal, so it works great. The pickup controls are the best feature because you can customize the sound well. I use it with a Marshall half-stack. It has a very bright sound.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
I don't know much in this category. It didn't have any flaws, though.

Reliability/Durability : 9
It's very durable. The only problem is that it was missing a strap button and I had to attach one. The one I put in won't stay well.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I don't know.
