It has FAT sounding humbuckers. I got it with a CRATE amp BITD. the CRATE is dead now I have a VOX 30W and the guitar shines.

WELL the action... I would have given this a poor rating however when my parents bought this guitar for me it came off the shelf and I just played it. dont even think I changed the strings not but 2x over the years.
BUT I just recently (7_2005) gave it to a friend and he did a REAL setup on it. adjusting the truss/pickup heights and now the action is VERY low and the sound is even better.
It plays sweet now. I never knew how bad it was set up stock.
So eventhough this should get a poor rating with OFF THE SHELF settings.
once properly set up it is super SWEET.

I replacd the TUNERS recently because the originals had plastic covers. and get sticky. Other than that it's built to last.
This is a very well made guitar out of excellent materials and as a beginner guitar (which is was for me) it is excellent. If you gig and need a very well made backup this would be a very good chioce. (if you can find one that is)
If you see one on ebay and have the chance to grab it. DO SO. you can probably get one for 200 or less I bet.
I took this guitar back to the store I bought it from recently to get a setup on it. (price was outrageous! so I took it to a friend) but they saw it and remembered when they carried Vantage and they said it one of the best made guitars for entry level playing he ever sold.

I've got a this Vantage (D500329) and it's made in Japan. Sorry, I don't know the year it was made. It has 22 frets nad a solid top. It has a volume button, 2 tone buttons and a 5-way selector. Pickups are S/S/H. I don't know much about it so it's hard to describe it better, but it's silver/black or as some others say green/black. I had it together with a Vantage hardcase.

Well, my style is heavy metal and it has a quite good sound when I play with different distortion, BUT when I play with the clean sound it sounde shit. It has a very dark and deep sound. It could have had better sound.

The guitar is second-hand bought so I think the person before me has maybe changed some parts or adjusted them. There is a small problem which is that the G-string, when it's played loose, it kind of sounds like it hits a fret or something but I've checked it and I didn't see anything. I don't know what it can be.
Overall it's a quite good guitar anyway.

I think this guitar can withstand the most actually. It seems to be very solid and reliable, but I think that I would have another guitar as backup. Just for safety.

I've been playing for about six years now and I also have another cheap guitar. I usually using a SM7 Smash Box Distortion pedal and a FBT 500 R-2 guitar amp. When I bought the guitar, I didn't know especially much about guitars and I took bought it because I thought it was nice. I didn't think about the sound. Next guitar will definitely be something else, like an Ibanez PGM30WH for example. There is nothing that I really love about the guitar and nothing that I hate except for the clean sound, otherwise it's an average good guitar. Made more for beginners, I think. I wish it had 24 frets but I guess that's too much asked for a guitar like this one.

This guitar is a Standard Les Paul copy. It looks like it was made in the early to mid '80's. Solid-body, single cutaway, dark cherry laminated finish, with cream-colored painted edgings, pick guard and (2) humbuckers. Rosewood detachable neck held on with a chrome Vantage-engraved backplate (serial #0100275 made in Japan). On the underside of the the body, the pickup and rhythm/treble plates are cream-colored. The adjustable bridge and other hardware are chrome. 4 black tone/volume controls knobs with one pickup selector switch. The 22-fret rosewood neck is slender and GEORGEOUS, with semi-rectangular mother-of-pearl inlays. The head is gloss-black with the gold Vantage logo. The tuner-casings are chrome, with the original Vantage engravings; the tuner machinery is encased, non-locking, and the pegs are also chrome. It came with a strap and a hardshell case (which was really worn -- but who cares?). When I saw it hanging on the wall at this pawnshop, I was drawn immediately, in spite of its lack of a pick guard, a few strings, and its grubby appearance. It was so dirty, I couldn't tell if it was black or cherry until I got it home and cleaned it. Underneath all that dirt was the most beautiful, unscratched body and neck. I bought a Les Paul pick guard for $15.00, a new set of strings, and it was good to go. I've NEVER regretted buying this guitar.

This guitar plays every song-style well; I mostly play rock and blues, but I've played country, jazz, classical and acoustic-type ballads with this thing, and I've been impressed by its great versatility. The sound is rich and full, with really great sustain. I'm currently using a Peavey Audition 110 amplifier, and a Zoom 505 multieffects foot pedal. This baby can really scream! I kind of wish the guitar had a pop-up volume/tone control, like my Yamaha SSC-500, but its no big deal. Incidentally -- my Yamaha cost about $500.00 used, and my Vantage plays better than that -- and better than a real Les Paul.

The action was a little high when I got it, but with a little tinkering, I set it fabulously low, and now the playing is effortless. I haven't had to adjust the pickups at all since I bought it, about 5 or 6 years ago. If I remember correctly, I may have had to sand the nut a little.

This guitar is really special to me, so I try not to abuse it in any way. It plays really well live, and I've used it for recordings. People are always amazed when I tell them its a Vantage, because its got such a rich, sweet sound. This guitar has so many coats of lacquer on it, I don't think it'll ever wear out. The strap buttons are strong and solid. I can depend on this guitar, and I would'nt be afraid to use it without backup.

I've been playing guitar since 1987; I also own a 4-track recorder, a Yamaha electric piano, and a spinet. The guy at the pawn shop tried to sell it to me for $260.00 originally, but I managed to talk him down to $180.00, which was a STEAL, in my opinion. If this guitar was ever stolen, I don't think I'd ever be able to find another one like it. I'd truly be devastated. Vantage is a QUALITY brandname; whoever thinks otherwise doesn't have their head on straight.

I have a Vantage guitar I bought from a guitar dealer here in the Philippines... I have no idea what model it is, if it is an original or a copy. 3 pick-ups, a tone control and volume control... ytypical electric guitar. It has 24 frets, I have no idea what brand of locking tuners it has... i bought it for Php 3,140, and, if I compare it to other guitars, like a Fender Strat, which probably costs around 2-5 thousand dollars, it was a pretty great buy. 3,140 pesos (about 62 dollars, 1 dollar = about 45 pesos) for a brand new Vantage guitar, complete with strap, cable, and tools. It was a great buy.

it was great for my rythm and bass all at once style. Rich sound... the pickups that came with it were great... but the cable they threw in for free sucked. The variety of sound is limited. You will be able to do a Metallica without an effects generator (duh), but without it, you won't be able to do that much. One tone control is too little.

I have been using this guitar for 10 months, and i don't regret buying it. It was really cheap, but it plays great. Guitars in the Philippines are cheap, and a 62 dollar guitar isn't that good a bargain to Filipinos. But if compared to Fender Strats or other big name guitars, this guitar can really hold its own.

I bought this guitar new in 1981 (about $900US). It is a double cutaway with a solid thru the body neck. The finish is clear over what looks likd a teak body. 2 Humbucker pickups. Three way pickup switch. It has a switch to cut the Humbeuckers to single coil and another to invert the polarity of the coils (interesting effect). Another switch turns on the preamp. Three knobs - 2 volume (each pickup) and 1 tone.
24 frets on a rosewood fingerboard, very fast action. Brass fittings with excellent sustain.

I play mostly rock, blues and country (sort of). The fast action and sustain make this a great lead guitar. Its versatility in setup makes it very good for rythym as well.
It can sound soft and mellow or very bright. The only thing to dislike is the weight (1-2 tons).
I play with a Digitech Artist 2200, but it sounds great with no effects at all.

I am interested in learning the specific model.

I honestly have no idea what model this guitar is. I bought it used for $200 in the summer of 1999. I was informed that the previous owner had switched the stock humbuckers (one at the neck and one at the bridge) with a differnt brand. My guitar is a double cut-away style with a brass nut and a non-tremlo bridge. Three knobs (they switch since the previous owner changed the pickups and therefore messed up the circutry. Two switches underneath of the knobs also have unknown functions. There is a toggle switch near the strap button at the top (les paul style). A clear finish on what i believe to be a mohogany body, with a neck (nice and medium) through body design. the fingerboard is a dark wood (perhaps rosewood) with 22 frets. Honestly i LOVE this guitar; and i want to find out as much about it as i can. (i wish guitars had vin numbers like cars do) the only markings are the Vantage signiture on the headstock with a Cursive V underneath that. The tuners keep tune almost perfectly and bear the cursive V on the back of each individual tuner.

I play mostly rock but i love to play the blues and any old R&B and i am trying to get into jazz. This guitar does not let me down in any catecory i believe it can play just about any style you want. The tone is supurb. The brass nut lets me sustain for an incredible long time. I test guitars for their resonance by playing unplugged and i can get an incredible amount of sound with no amplification. there is never any buzzing (thank God) and a medium rich tone that is pretty bright too. i use this guitar on a peavey half stack (transitube) and a polytone amp; a taurus (unknown year).

The finish is nice. a clear coat on a mohogany wood ( i belive that is what it is) the only flaws are from the previous owner and from the abuse of daily playing ( without a case for about a year) The wood is what brings out the guitars sound and lets it carry it's tune. the pickup slector is virtually noiseless. the brass hardware is one of the amazing features. Perfect action and easily ajusted at the bridge.

very relable guitar, this bavy could last as long as time will allow (given no one tries to end a set cobain style) The strap buttons are some of the most solid i have ever seen and the finish looks to last very well, a few scratches from playing (belts ets.)

I don't know when or where this guitar was made... can't find anything except the name on the headstock. 24 fret, natural finish, neckthru body design, brass hardware (this sucker will sustain forever), mahogany and maple body, rosewood fingerboard. It's got that Artist-style body with a tunomatic brigde, locking gold tuners, medium neck with frets a little on the small side, and (dat-da-da-Dah!) and active preamp system, with a parametic EQ (pot for frequency and a pot for cut/boost), 3 toggles that shape the tone, and a master volume and 3-way switch. It's got generic humbuckers (2).
Sound
:

I play rock, blues, jazz, everything. It'll shred and crunch and then get as sweet as a bluebird. Humbuckers are completely quiet, nothing but tone. The PARAMETRIC (got that?) EQ gives you any tone you can imagine right off the guitar. I love this sucker to death. The only thing I could ever imagine wanting to change would be the pickups, and they're almost perfect-almost.
