I purchased this guitar new in 1978. Body tag says "designed in usa built in japan".There are 21 frets ,it appears to have a solid spruce top.no electronics no cutaway.sides and back are made of rosewood, neck and headstock are made of mahogany with a rosewood laminate on the face of the headstock.fretboard is ebony with teardrop mother-of-pearl markers. I'm unsure of what brand the tuners are.The edging is mop as well the soundhole rosette.

Sound : 10
I've played several higher end guitars and this guitar would compare to some of those.I've always heard that as the wood in a guitar ages, the sound improves somewhat. I feel this is the case with this guitar.the guitar has a rich sound to be what I would term a small bodied guitar(15 inches wide at the lower bout, 4inches deep x 19 inches long).Total guitar length is 40.5 inches from headstock to lower bout.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Action is decent, beautifully bookmatched top and back.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I've played this guitar regularly for almost 23 years with no real problems.the clear finish is worn away in a very small spot around the soundhole where the down stroke of the pick strikes the sound board. The lower bout strap button was made of plastic and is broken away leaving the scew.other than that no problems.

I'm thirty nine years old and have been playing since I was about eleven. For the money I'm happy with this guitar, and if I lost it or it was stolen I would definately replace it.I would love to own a Taylor or even a handcrafted guitar.Even though the sound of this guitar is pretty good in my opinion,I think what I love most about it is the the design and appearance. It caught my eye right off the bat the day that I bought it.
