Never had a problem with it. The music company sold me oils to keep the finish brite, and it has worked great

I purchased this Ventura V-14 special back in 1976. It sounds and looks as great as the day I bought it. I spent around $150 back then and have had no problems. I am wondering what it is worth today?

My v-14 Ventura is a 70-s model?? And has pearl fret markers (mother of) and Abalone sound hole trim as well as edge of top. Solid spruce top. I don't know the side and back woods..(someone help) But it has a very unique look ( long dark grains against honey brown)..gloss finish. Dreadnought style,,adjustable bridge (very beefy) My tuners are good but probably not original (weird black and crome) Black Fretboard.

Wonderful tone matches anything that I've played in the 1200$ range. Really fantastic!!

I bought the guitar in 1980 from the parents of a student for
$100 with case. It has mother of pearl fret markers and I guess
it's abolone inlay around the hole and around the edges. Binding
is white around the guitar and neck, and from reading the previous material, I assume it's rosewood back, sides and neck. If anyone
knows what the binding and trim are made of, please say so. The
string heigt is adjustable. Looks like grover keys. Inside it says
it's a Ventura V-14 serial # 21039, made in Japan, and designed in America.

I have always played it straight with no pickup, and it has
a nice balanced sound, but not real loud and strong, but then
I use light strings. I have been looking to buy a new and high
quality guitar, and played Taylor's, Takamini's and some Gibsons,
and cannot find a guitar under $1000 that plays better than this
Ventura V-14. When I asked the store owner about adjusting it,
and what he thought of the guitar, he was excited when he saw it
and played it. I may be harder than most because I'm looking for
the perfect sound...I still haven't bought another guitar because
I can't find a better one than this Ventura without paying big
buck!

I had to adjust the action originally, but it has adjustable
saddle. It plays very nice and the finish was great when I
first got it. i have some dings, and scratches from playing,
but it still in great shape.

Reliability/Durability : 10

I"ve played this guitar for over 20 years and it still looks
great, plays great. It's ready to go on any gig.

I've been playing about 35 years, and I would buy another V-14
if I had the opportunity. I'm not perfectly happy with the action,
but I'm picky. I love the look, sound and feel of this guitar.

I was unsure of the particular type of wood that makes this guitar extremely beautiful until I read the other review.
It has an adjustable saddle, pearl purflings and all around quality craftsmanship. The neck has a rifled appearance to the back of it when shined towards the light. The back and sides are made of beautiful rosewood that has an amazing look to it.
Overall this guitar has character. I would rate this guitar higher if it had a built-in pickup and equalizer.

I have 4 different acoustic guitars (ex. Fender, Washburn, Asbury, Gibson)one 12 string, 3 classical guitars and an electric. I have also played friends guitars and expensive guitars at music stores, and this Ventura has beat almost all of them when Compared in sound and beauty. The richness and fullness in tones and quality of sound. Even though the guitar is quite old it held it's tone well

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
One of the reasons that I love this guitar so much is that the action is set in a way that it plays like an electric guitar but doesn't buzz! To this day there is no free play in the tuning pegs, no rust on the frets, there is a little bit of discoloration in the "ivory" trim but the guitar is 30 years old.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I was not sure of the age of this guitar but I knew it was around the late 70's.
When I had found this guitar there wasn't a mark on it. I have added a few (and I was clenching my teeth as I wrote that). This guitar has a quality finish, durable hardware left and right. I would trust this guitar before I would trust any of my other guitars for live play. In fact, for the quality in sound I would only want to play this guitar.

I am so glad that I found this guitar. I found this Guitar at the Good Will 5 years ago. Practically Brand New!!! It came with a hard case, what seemed to be a collection of strings(all from the 70's), a strap, all kinds of retro picks, slides and an old electric tuner (in original box) with a receipt in it from Sam Ash dated from 1981!! The tuner was bought for aroung $50.00 then.

I had to pick my jaw up from off the floor when I first strummed an E cord and heard the guitar for the first time, then when I found out it was only $80.00 I was estatic.

I've got a v-14, it has rosewood back and sides ,spruce top and rosewood neck with teardrop mother of pearl , mother of pearl purflings, and the same for the sound hole, the neck itself is honduras mahogany. I bought it new in 1977? i'm pretty sure it's got Grover tuners from the factory.

Sound : 10
I recently added a fishman saddle transducer, on top of which it has a ebony saddle I made for it, the sound is very rich and clear. I use a combination of a 60 watt transistor amp and a 60 watt tube amp, with effects via a digitech RP-6 .

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
no flaws on this one,the action is great, I prefer it over my les paul and hollow body electric.

23 years and played it a lot with no problems.

32 years, I've had 2 other venturas both 12 strings, one was exactly like this one and another " basic" 12 string, both stolen before I bought this one.
