Royal Artist Model. There are two stamped signatures on the label, one of which covers the model number so it is either a V-20 or V-22 Serial number 32563. The signature that I can make out says by Kasuga.
Have no idea of the year made. From what I've read about other Venturas, it was probably in the 70's. I bought it about six years ago at a pawn shop. It is really a beautiful looking guitar. It is a tan/burnt orange color, there is a dark brown plastic pick guard tightly glued to the body. 21 frets. Appears to be inlaid with mother of pearl or a close imitation. The bridge appears to curve slightly to help fingering I suppose. The real kicker of a feature, and the reason I originally purchased it is because of an adjustable metal bridge- this is an acoustic guitar mind you. It also came with the original case which is somewhat munched, but easily fixable. (I usually just wrap a belt around it because I'm too lazy to fix it.)
Sound

This guitar has an incredible tone. It is almost haunting. I sometimes forget how great it sounds then I'll play it for someone else and they always remark at the tone. Some people have been taken a back by how great it sounds. The mid-tones seem to dominate.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The action is low. Up to the twelth fret it takes no effort to play a note. A little more effort is needed higher up.

The guitar is straight and solid. I've played three live gigs with it mic'd and had no problems. The strings never go out of tune. The metal bridge seems to have no affect on string wear.
The finish is hard. There are a few tiny dings. There are two very narrow splits towards the bottom under the bridge plate to the bottom of the guitar. One appears to have been filled. The splits have remained the same size in the seven years I have had the guitar. If they have any affect on the sound of the guitar it is a good affect.

I've been playing for twelve years and have played and bought many acoustic guitars- Martins, Gibsons, Ovations, Yamahas and many others. I currently have an electric Gretsch historic series hollowbody beauty and the Ventura. This Ventura is a very high quality guitar.
I'd love to learn more about it. I have only read one other posting two years ago from another person had had a V-20 and they knew nothing about it either.
I owned another Ventura electric hollowbody a few years ago. It was a copy of a Barney Kessel Gibson made in the 70's. Some people think they're ugly but I thought it was a beauty. It played beautifully too. Unfortunately I had to sell it.
I think Ventura's are special guitars. Someone posted somewhere that Ventura lost their licenses to copy guitars because their copies were starting to rival the originals. I wouldn't doubt it.
If anyone has information about Ventura, and particularly my guitar please email me. Also, if anyone would like to see a picture of this guitar feel free to email me an I'll post it on my website. It is not for sale!
