this is a martin D-45 knockoff, or so close its scary. It is a mid 70's model produced in japan alongside of many contract guitars made by Matsumoku at that time. I bought mine new in '75. It features a solid spruce top, three-piece rosewood back and sides, Koa neck (I think) and as much abalone as a guitar can hold, a fixed bridge, gotoh tuners and hexagonal fret markers. After 31 years of constant string tension, the neck is unmoved! virtually no buzz to speak of with the string height at the last fret about 3\32" clearance. Remarkable to say the least for a $300.00 (in 1975) acoustic guitar. The neck is very comfortable for any hand, the fretwire is medium and finished. No!, it is not a D-45,
But if you were blindfolded, you may be fooled!

Sound improves with age on most solid wood instruments, this one is no exception. responds noticibly to different alloys unlike cheaper guitars with ply tops. pros: full rich or bright (depending on strings) neck feels perfect, intonation is right on the mark, finish is still beautiful no cracks or checking although top has yellowed just a touch from new, (it is 31 now) cons: I'm afraid to take it out on gigs and risk scratching it!

all but perfect! I did shave the bridge saddle about a 1\16" to better suit me, I like the action close. the top nut is synthetic material, I prefer a denser material such as deerbone, but I will not change it now & disturb its originality. the bindings and abalone are far to detailed for an instrument in this price range!

None, The distributor was C. Bruno & Son (no longer with us) the last known parent company to hold the rights was Kaman International.

I have been playing for 35 years, it was love at first sight (this was my first real acoustic guitar) if we are ever seperated, it would be difficult to find another at will. I love most everything about it, I don't know if I would rather play it or look at it, so I do both! I compared it to all the big dogs and some others in its price range as well, the closest runner up (Considering price) was an Ibanez
Artwood (don't remember the exact model), I wish I could have bought both! but the Ventura was a beauty! hands down!

Built to be played . It had to built to last to look and sound this could without any problems so far. I would not be scared to take it and play without any back up . It is built like a tank.

I have been playing about 40 years. I have been fortune enough to have the chance to play alot of different instruments in my time and this one rate right up there at the top. IF it was lost or stolen I would hope i could be able to find another one. It would be a tremendouls lost if I could not. I love the looks durabilty and sound of this. dislikes I would say would be none. Buy one if you can find one.

I would rate this guitar a 10 with the workmanship , sound, and quality. If it were lost or destroyer I would try and find me another one ( which I would have a hard time finding one, (since this is the only one I have ever seen). If you get a chance to play one or buy one jump at the chance you won't regret it.

This Guitar Sounds Very Much Like A Martin! The Sound Is Very Familiar To Me, For My Father Used To Play His '73 Martin D-28 To Me In The Womb. It's In My Blood! It's In Everyone's Blood!

As Far As I Know, Ventura Stopped Making Guitars In JAPAN A Long Time Ago . . .
(Their New Guitars Are Made In Korea Of Cheaper Materials and "Not-So-Fine" Craftsmanship Compared To The Older Japanese Models.)

Simply Fantastic Sound And A Solid Built Guitar That Sounds So Close To A Martin It's Scary! I Am Currently Looking For Another Older Japanese Ventura Guitar Just Like This One!
