Id say it sounds really bad... specially for clean sounds, they're all very dry and thin sounds, best clean sound i could get from it was neck pickup + middle pickup and you get a almost likeable sound.

For distortions id say... its not bad... but could be better.

im waiting to have some money and change pickups right away.. probably EMG's. curious about the sound change with new pickups.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion

Year...not the slightest idea at all, I've read it's made in Japan, The Neck has 24 frets, maple neck , Ibanez Jackson type of body, metallic black, has locking Floyd Rose trem. I got it for 200 used from "The Music Factory" came with a gig bag...woo hoo

Sound : 10
Wanted an ESP type guitar, looked into Kirk Hammet edition, then remembered this is the real world and I can't afford a 500 dollar guitar, so looked into an Ibanez type guitar for a nice High Gain crunch sound. Pickups seem to thrive on tapping and high key "shredding" very nice sound for Metallica, Pantera, Slayer type of music

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
Very big problem with Action when first testing it out, string kept getting caught on the pickup while playing up on the fret board, guy couldn't unscrew it to lower the pickup, but after some pushing and pulling he fixed the problem and got I a new pickup out of it. Floyd Rose system looks very nice, yet don't have my tremelo bar yet to really see how she works... :[

Reliability/Durability : 10
Very Very Durable, little childern in house always seem to knock it off it's stand when ever possible...pickup it up make sure it not dinged up too bad and it sounds just a great...been knocked over...dropped...still intact and ready to play. All thats left to do is light it on fire and or drop it in the pool.

Well since the company dosn't exsist anymore, Customer Support is a lack thereof sort of thing, friends and family have never heard of a Vester guitar

Overall Rating : 10
Been playing for a year and have not a great guitarist but getting alot better. Only the second guitar I've owned (first was a Squire...Strat) this Vester is a great audition to the knock off family...sounds great, plays great, is great, but I'd still like to know more about this damn Vester...

Just a brief note to correct misinformation. Vester guitars were made in Japan by Vestax and imprted by Midco international who also imports the Japanese Gretsch's. Vestax builds the D'Angelico guitars and I think the Japanese Gretsch's. Not to take anything away from Korean guitars but Vesters are much better.

no service vester sold out after a tiff with fender heres the story i found on the netI saw several people have had questions about the origin and history of Vester guitars. Vester was a company formed as a part of Samuel Music Company in Effingham, Illinois (USA). Samuel Music owns a string of stores that sell pianos and are best known for school band instrument rental programs. They decided to introduce their own brand of guitars. Instead of importing cheap crap (as so many companies do), they agreed to import the best line of guitars they could afford, covering a range of middle to upper-end guitars.

The guitars were manufactured in Korea by the Sae Han Corperation. Design specifcations were dictated by the guys in Effingham, revolving around most of Sae Han's top-of-the-line guitars. Through contacts they already have in the instrument sales industry, they got good distribution of their guitars. They had some contacts n the recording industry, and in just a few years had Alabama members and other bands beginning to endorse their guitars

All was going great until Fender began preparing a lawsuit based on the accusation that "Vester" was a sound-alike name for
"Fender". Without ever making it into a courtroom, Vester surrndered and sold out remaining stock. Vester (Samuel Music) simply did not have deep enough pockets to go to court against Fender.

No idea where it was made (Japan probably) or when (late 80's early 90's I guess). 24 frets, no pickguard, black with glitter crackle/lightening pattern, set neck, 1 volume, 1 tone, 1 switch, Floyd Rose bridge and locking nut. Best of all- SEYMOUR DUNCAN INVADERS!! Yup- it was loaded with those and that was the main reason I got the guitar- that and the set neck. The body style is strat-like. Average features over all.

Sound : 10
I got this guitar for a hard punk/metal sound, also wanted something not too expensive that could take some abuse and I wouldn't care all that much. The Duncan Invaders really bring out the peronality of this guitar. For what I want it for, its perfect!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
The action fit and finish are great- there is a couple of chips on the head stock, had to superglu the sharkfin inlays back down, there is a little fret wear, and I had to oil the fretboard...this guitar has some miles, but all in all, for what it is its great for me!

Reliability/Durability : 8
This thig will take abuse...

Vester=OUT OF BUSINESS.

Overall Rating : 10
This guitar is getting a lot of use as of late- I am playing some L7, some Kravitz, some Cult, and some Prince with it...alll sounds great. I had traded my Fender Standard Tele for this and I personally think I got the better end of the deal. I am very happy with this guitar.

A good allround setup catering to most tastes, I guess. It's made overseas (but I have no idea where), nor do I care really since I have never dealt with the company directly.
It's a solidbody guitar, with a completely flat top (no little "Declination" where the right arm elbow sits), with an ivory outline and Trans-Indigo front w/ black back. Pretty thick solidtop body, a bit smaller than the norm. Shape is standard Jackson/Ibanez metal type.
It has a 24 fret neck (accept no less), custom made for whoever bought it directly, but pretty good for me. Bolt-on, unfortunately. The fret metal tracks are very thick and wide, and very high, so string height above the fret metals is very small, but the height to the frets themselves it BIG. This gives the neck a scalloped feel, it gets easier to grab the strings, really changes the guitar's play. It has the thickest neck I have ever seen on an electric guitar, which makes it great for my type of music but may be really irritating to others. Good tone inside the neck, the truss arcs it slightly backward for the best results. Rosewood for a good, round, mellow sound (I don't really like maple, but if You do, choose another guitar). The neck cutaway is fabulous. You can play the 24th fret without even touching the body in any way.
As far as built-in electronics, two knobs and a switch is what You have. Volume and tone for the general guitar tone, no scales or numbers, but it gets intuitive. Volume knob not close enough for speedpicking volume swells a-la- Yngwie, however it's fairly close for slower tones. Five-way selector for the three pickups (neck single, middle single, bridge Humbucker) w/o coil tapping. So far I've changed no pickups, however the middle one is useless as far as tone is concerned, and I'd recommend anyone higher outout single coils (like S/D Hot Rails) as replacements. All P/Us are passive.
The bridge is a double-locking Floyd Rose (don't remember model) with fine-tuners on top of the unit. The handle goes slack, don't bother stiffening it, just pull down once and it'll be flopping around again. Most players find this tremolo unstable. Partielly, I agree, however loosen the screws and easy up the resting position and the guitar shouldn't give You any problems. It will also give the guitar Dimbag Darrel-type bendability. And with that neck... the sky is the limit as far as upward bends go.
Good head, huge tilt angle, very good for tone. 1/16 machine heads seem very precise, no complaints there.
I got it with a Vester Maniac case which is very sturdy and good. I'm very happy with it. It takes a while to grow on You but after a while no other guitar is alike (especially the neck).

Sound : 7
Well, like I said earlier, this guitar really suits most players, if You know how to set up the perifery. Sonically, this guitar is all about what You surround it with and the other equipment You use. It's almost like the instrument itself doesn't matter as much as e g the string brand or pick size. So grnerally, it will shape itself after Your style of music quite well. This of course makes it nonexpressive by nature.
It has a very naturally twangy tone, not plonky bends like a Strat or tele, but more like an SG with high settings. However, I've managed to shape the tone into what I want, which is basically mellow, almost classical tone with the right amp settings. Very versatile in that respect. However, don't even think about changing pickups witout distortion. Going from humbucker to singlecoil is like turning off the amplifier. With distortion, it just gives my pedal a good tonal range to work with, since the neck singlecoil sounds clean and smooth, and the bridge humbucker has a greater output and therefore adds to the overdrive. The pickup settings offer infinite contrasts, however there is very little between the extremes.
I play arpeggio-oriented Yngwie-style metal, and the tone suits me for it. I've always used it with the DOD FX-86 pedal (which I have also reviewed). The partnership is very good and what one lacks the other has. All in all, I've managed to create the sound I had in my hjead when I started playing, and I guess it doesn't get any better than that.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
This guitar is visibly a custom. Everything works smoothly and is shaped well. The neck/body joint is very good, once again the neck is absolutely the best one I have ever played.
Overall, the guitar has low string action on the player's part and rather good sustain. I had the pickup height altered when I changed the tremolo settings, but that is just a matter of consequence. String height is good, neck radius well tapered (radius can be a bit small near the head though).
The pickup selector clicks when slammed, but is silent when caressed. I caress.

Reliability/Durability : 9
As far as the guitar goes, I've owned it for two years and bought it used, so it's very likely to have been through a lot. I have scratched the paint job and loosened a strap holder in my days, but then again I play it all the time. I practically sleep with it, so cosidering that it's been very reliable. For live playing it is very good (It's called the Concert Series). The first piece of hardware to go will be the Floyd Rose. That wasn't made by Vester. Need I say more?
The finish is not Strat-like, the guitar has no pickguard and I have never scratched it there. I banged it into the ceiling once and chipped off a very small paint fragment off the head. So play it and it'll last forever. Live with it and it probably won't. But the pain job will be there as long as the guitar is, at least it seems so.
The strap buttons WERE not solid, since then I've had them epoxybonded to the screw holes. I was told this bond would be the last thing to go if the whole guitar fell apart. So far it's been true.
It's never let me down, basically You always know where You have it. My biggest problem as a player is I love that neck so much I overuse it, and break strings bending. Therefore, I'd probably have a backup, but as far as the guitar goes it is a very reliable and forgiving instrument.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with Vester, if I ever find them I'll tell You how nice they were.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been living and breathing this guitar for two years, and it really has enough unique features for me to always long back to it if I'm playing something else. It's no Gibson Black Beauty, as far as sound is concerned, but it gives me what I want and what I need. I'm glad I bought the guitar due to the neck (I could write a book about that neck, just ask my bassist), it really suits my playing style, and I feel I have evolved since buying it because it has allowed me to do things I couldn't do before. I asked everything before I bought it, and I knew what I was buying when I did.
If it ever got stolen, I would curl up in the fetal position and sob until I died crying "my neck, my beautiful neck". I would probably get a Vester again, since I have become so accustomed to it nothing else would be me. It's not the best guitar ever made, but it's me. And as long as it can provide me with what I want, why would I need anything else? If I could just get this neck glued on a Black Beauty, we might be seeing the perfect guitar.
When bying, I had a choice between an Epiphone Les Paul, an Epiphone SG, about 75 Strat copies and this. None of the others came close to this guitar. Whoever built it know exactly what they were doing, whoevr ordered it knew exactly what I wanted. I love its neck, I hate its middle pickup, my favourite feature the extreme playability. This guitar can follow me through any style.
If I have a wish, it would be for three S/D humbuckers and a brand new Floyd Rose. Otherwise, she's my baby girl and I love her with all my heart.
