This is a pretty good copy of a Gibson SG - it has a wine red finish with a rosewood fretboard, tune- o - matic bridge, same tuners and so on. the attention to detail is great. it has the usual humbuckers and control knobs and everything is made quite well except for the fret markers which are not mother of pearl and are starting to disappear on the higher frets. oh - it has set - neck construction, too.

suits my style well. i play mostly blues, so i can get a clapton bluesbreakers type tone or a more trebly, cutting sound. it is not noisy. i set the neck pickup to a bassy sound and the bridge to a twang, so i have the extremes. can do good wes montgomery impressions with the neck pickup, too. i play it through a marshall bass amp at the moment, with some overdrive and reverb effects (courtesy of boss 506 multi effects) to beef up the sound a bit cos the pickups are a little weak.

well i got this guitar from a hock shop so i don't know what it was like new. i set it up myself and replaced the missing neck pickup, and raised the action a little so i can play slide on it. there were no sharp or dangerous bits.

yeah, this is dependable. it holds tune very well and is solid as a rock. it has been pretty well used and it withstands string bends, quick pickup swithes, etc. very well.

i've been playing for about 7 years, as a bass player mainly. i'm very happy with the guitar as it was a cheap buy and i'm not afraid to really play it. i would never abuse an instrument, but i love the feeling of not having to worry about playing them hard, and with this i don't. i love the look and the feel - i love gibson - style humbuckers but i hate the feel and the style of les pauls, so the sg shape is great. i wish that the neck wasn't warped, and that the pickups were more responsive, but i can change that. i compared to the other guitars in its second - hand price range, such as strat copies, but for sound this won hands down. its just so playable! i probably wouldn't buy another if it was stolen, as i would now get a new guitar, but if the vester sounded better new then i would get it !
