As a luthier, I have a very skeptical eye when it comes to guitars. I
was intrigued by the features of the "Bop" by Victor Baker and against
my better judgment, decided to take a chance on a guitar I had no hands
on experience with. The information you provided me, and my talk with
Victor, gave me the confidence to pull the trigger, and I thank God
that I did. I opened the box to find the guitar perfectly packed, and
protected. Then I opened the case and all I could say was "WOW". I
was looking at a guitar that was even more beautiful than either of you
could describe. I knew immediately that Victor was a first class
builder when I saw the perfect fit and finish. Then I picked up the
guitar, which was light as a feather, and strummed it. All I could
say was "WOW, WOW, WOW". I can honestly say that this is the best
acoustic archtop I have ever heard, and I have had them all. The
acoustic tone and volume are so strong that I would be happy never
having to plug this guitar in. Victor is a master at voicing a guitar,
and in my opinion, he is better at it than anyone carving today. Even
the greats before him never made a guitar that sang like this from day
one. Plugged in, the guitar is perfect too. He had an outstanding
pickup made for this guitar, and I love the tone and the even volume of
all the strings. The neck profile is great and makes for effortless
playing. I could start getting technical about the construction of the
guitar, but I think the only thing that needs to be said is that it is
outstanding and flawlessly executed. This guitar is so well priced
that you really are getting the best value for your dollar of any
archtop on the market. It costs less than other builder's Japanese
made plywood guitars! This guitar is better acoustically than my
$30,000.00 Gibson Citation!
This guitar features a solid one-piece select AAAA Sitka Spruce top. This is unheard of in a guitar in this price range. A one-piece top involves selecting a huge piece of spruce and meticulously carving and tapping it to produce the character of the guitar. The back and sides are solid select AAA flamed maple with a custom wineburst finish. Victor's guitars are finished to an absolutely flawless gloss level with the finest hand-polished lacquer. The fretboard and tailpiece are the finest ebony as is the face of the headstock, meticulously inlaid with Victor's marque. The pickup is an ebony-cased handwound humbucker. The edges are finished in breathtaking select flamed maple.
