An SG-copy. y'all know the features. Just about perfect for my purposes.

When i first played it acoustic i was positively suprised. I did't exept much from a guitar at this price range but this one just felt like a real electic guitar, great strong acoustic sound. But when i plugged it into an amp i was totally amazed. It sounds just like a gibson sg, if somebody tries to claim otherwise just play a blind test on him/her. The wilkinson humbuckers are really versital, they go from raw beatdown hardcore to classic rock. Cleans are good as well, love the way both pickups sound when doing some upstroke reggae stuff.

got it second hand, so i don't really know how it was straight outta box. The previous owner used pretty slinky strings, wich are great for exemple on bluesy stuff, but i like a bit more punchy feel so i got an 11-54 set and the guitars rock-potential really came alive. There was some flaws in the finish, pickguard was finished poorly as well as the little piece of plastic between the neck and the neck pickup. A little sanding and it was better than new. Electronics seem flawless, no extra noise in any occasion.

SG:s have a weak neck, and that's a fact. I wouldn't put too much faith in it's reliability but so far no problems. I have locking strap buttons on this one. Still I could easily use it without a backup, thisw guitar hasn't even broke one string since i got it.

I've been playing for 8 years now, more or less active, and have owned all kinds of guitars. From Gibson USA to Fender Japan to Epiphone to Tokai to.... you mention it. This is a guitar wich really is worth the money. If it was stolen or broken i would definetly get a new one, because these don't cost really that much, and because this is the best SG style guitar that i have ever laid my hands on. Love the slightly more wide neck than in gibsons i've played. Epiphone G-400 is really nothing on this one, even with seymour duncan pickups installed.

The guitar has many good features including the pickups which are really good. The tuners though arena;t the greatest and I have foudn the guitar doesn't stay in tune for very long - This is not me putting the strings n wrongly because I have got the guitar shop to do it and exactly the same result.
Sound

The guitar has a really good crunchy rock tone to it which is why I bought it so that's good - although if your loo kin to make a clean sound don't bother a start sound miles better. I have a line 6 spider ||| 30 watt.

The guitar really looks great hanging on my wall next to my 2 other guitars and takes center stage - although thats about it. After 4 months the 7th Fret on the D string wouldn't play (just made a twangy sound) and when took to the music shop I was told I would need a whole new fret board cos the frets were of many different heights cost to me would of been 65 POUNDS!

I dont know what year my Vintage SG copy was made, It has 22 frets, it has a black laminated body(which looks kick arse!), 2 x volume + 2 x tone controls for 2 Wilkinson humbuckers in the usual positions,The neck is mahogany and i think the body is as well but im not sure..., the body style is bat wing and it was the cool style of the guitar that drew me to it, it has a stoptial bridge and wilkinson "Clover drop" tuners, the neck is ery similar to a squir strat which was good because that was my last guitar!, this made the switch over much easier, the only thing that i can say is bad about the body is that the strat button positions take some getting used to and ur arm will ach for a while at first because the neck is a little heavier than the body which means u have to hold it up as u play.

I was pleasantly surprised when i played this guitar because no matter what type of music i played it would sound brilliant all i had to do was make some minor tone adjustments and it would fit the song perfectly!, i was also surprised at how clear the notes were.

I have not gigged with this guitar but as everyone does i have dinged it against things on several ocasions and surprisingly it hasnt got a scratch on it, it also managed to stay in tune for ages, the lacker is strong and scratchplate is as strong at arnald swartzenegger on steroids.

There is no history of when or where this guitar was made. It has a serial no on the back which seem to suggest it was made in 2002.There are 22 frets on a rosewood neck. Solid top guitar. Two stock wilkinson humbucker pickup. Comes with two tone and two volume controls for each humbucker. There is a 3 way switch. I dont have to go on about style do i , its an Sg copy !!! It came witl all black finish with chrome hardwares and electronics.
The purpose of me buying this guitar was to well buy a cheap shell and put up electronics to make it a mega monster. THe stock guitar was ...well if u are a beginner looking for a new guitar this will suit u. But soon u grow out of that phase and u have expecations from your guitar. Expectation like stay in tune !!! stop buzzing !!
Like i said this was to be my little guitar project. After a while i changed the tuners to GRover 18:1 ratio tuners. i got them for #20 off ebay. infact that fitted in like a dream and it keeps the guitar in tune no matter how hard u strum or bend the strings. Ah initial problem solved.
I was satisfied with the pickup but one day i decided to explore and took off the back panel to explore. the volume and tone pots lokked outdated and the electronic work looked like as if it had been done by a pregnent monky high on ganja. anyway i decided to change the pickups aswell. I got EMG zakk wylde passive pickups. The set came with its own high end pots and switches. Infact i managed to change the whole electronic ....every bit of wiring from the EMg zakk wylde i got. THese go for about #90 on ebay.
now remained the trouble of finish ......all black ....well i needed a bit of colour. So i got the templates and stuff to make it like ZAkk wyldes Bullss eye guitar. Cost me about #15 from ebay.
NOw lets review shall we. I got the guitar for #125...grover tuners #20...pickups ...##90....Finish ....#15. Alltogether i spent #250 on this guitar and what have i achieved ?? I got myself a ZAkk wylde configurated guitar at only a tenth of the price of original with matching everything. So u see this is how u save money ....u pick up a good standard guitar and u innovate it.
I adore this guitar for its solid built and its weight. THe only problem is its weight. Generally heavy guitars are good but this thing has got neck which is heavier than the body so it takes a bit getting used to.
Now in terms of rating the guitar i have managed to achieve is 10 out of 10...the guitar that i initially got is worth 8 because of its non locking tuners and crappy electronics
Sound
:

THe stock pickups are rubbish. when i wah new at guitars i could never work out why cant i get the notes or effect i was after and it mostly does comes down to your pickup. Also the guitar never used to keep in tune .
After the upgrades i mentioned above its a beauty and works like a charm.
i would rate the sound of the originl guitar with its stock pickup 5 because it simply is bad.

THe original finish was really good. Shiny black , black scratchplate , chrome hardware. Looked beautiful

THis guitar will last , no question about that. Its built like a tank. very strong with glued neck . That was one of the main reasons why i got this guitar.

Overall its a good guitar if u are planning on investing on it. My guitar is setup like a les paul zakk wylde which costs around #1500. so basically u can see that that i managed to get a great guitar and save a lot of money.
as a guitar on its own if it just had locking tuners it would be so so good
Anyhow it derves a 7 for its overall performence

Well, I aint no expert but the features on this guitar r pretty good. It has 3 way selecter (bridge, neck&bridge, neck pickup)with 2 humbuker pickups.I think it has a tune-o-matic bridge and non locking pickups.

For a begginer guitar the range and quality of sounds is incredible. The treble is a little fuzzy but much better than my strat copy. But wot really shines on this is the middle range of sounds which are very crisp. I'm not in a band but im sure this'd suit a rock/punk style of music great and, on rhythm setting and the tone turned low, u can get a good blues type sund from it too.

the action is a good hight, low but not too low and there is also no real fret buzzing tha ive noticed. The finish is great and pianted and polished well and evenly all over. Surprisingly good quality for the money

Just as a genuine sg- two humbuckers, abr-1 stopbar bridge, two volume controls, two tone controls, 3 way selector, all work great! Non locking tuners, seem to keep the guitar in tune for quite some time. Good neck, not too fat or thin, just comfortable. Not sure where it was made, 22 frets, solid top. Neck is made of mahogany, body is a lighter wood- which causes the odd problem as the neck weighs more and, should you let go, flies towards the ground! Small price to pay for a great instrument!

it suits my style of punk and rock, the neck humbucker can sound a little dull, but the bridge humbucker sounds absolutely great! Has such a crisp, lovely sound. There is a good variety of tone, though I generally use the bridge pickup with the tone and volume on 10- this tone is amazing! I use it with a bradley tube amp, and it sounds great!

I brought my guitar from regent guitars, where they do a big quality control and set the action, so my guitar's action has been PERFECT and I mean that, absolutely flawless. The paint job is okay- I found that inside the horns the paint is a little rough, but no one else would notice, and the guitar sounds incredible, so don't let that put you off. The pickups (as part of the regent guitars setup) were adjusted very well. Straight out the box it was amazing!

Well, its now put up with over a year of my playing (I go a little mad onstage), so it's gotta be pretty solid! I wouldn't use it without backup at a gig for the simple reason that a string may break- apart from that it has been very very reliable. The finish, fit and whatever else seem perfect to me, very durable!

This guitar is incredible! Durable, sounds great, easy to play, I've owned epiphones, washburns, and other 'budget' models like stagg, this one wins over all of them. If someone stole it, I'd congratulate them on stealing such a great guitar- then buy another one (or smash their face in and ask for it back) AMAZING!

not sure when it was made, probs about 2001, and i have no idea where it was made either.
22 frets, very cutaway body
2 tone, 2 volume controls, for each humbucker pickup
not sure on the wood but seems like an expensiveish one
cherry red with 2 ply scratchplate
not a lot to say... its like a gibson sg?

i'm not going to lie... i dont know that much about guitars, not as much as some of the people who have reviewed gear on here anyway. i'm into alt/indie/rock and its suited every style ive tried to play... from feeder to oasis and many more.
i'm just using it with a squier 10w crappy practice amp at the mo but i'm pretty sure it'd sound very good through a good amp as well as this! the 3 way toggle swtich allows for a range of different sounds, and i find it sounds good on distortion as well as clean. it sounds very bright and pleasant.

the guitar seemed to be set up very well indeed, the action was nice and quite low and its very easy to play. it had no flaws at all... the pickups were good, the bridge was good.. it was all good.
the only complaint i have with it is that its started rusting at fret 15 but i have had it for over a year now and i think it was in the shop a while before i bought it. there was also a tiny knock on the side of the neck but this is just cosmetic and the guy in the shop knocked #40 off its original price for me because of this! :-D

i think the guitar would withstand live gigs... i've not gigged it yet myself as i love it too much and am scared to damage it lol!
however, i think it'd take a LOT to damage this guitar... the hardware is solid, the paintwork is fabulous (even all over the body and very thick and a lovely cherry red!) i've banged it against tables and walls and stuff a few times and the paint still looks solid to me.
the strap buttons are ok but my strap has came undone a few times on it... i'm not sure if this is because ive just got a cheap and crappy strap though, but even still, i'd be careful about this bit. but i suppose most guitars would require a strap lock, just in case.
i would definatley depend on it and i'm sure i could go a whole gig without a backup but i'd take a backup just in case anyway!

havent had to take it back in the year ive had it so far so i dont know... i had the link for the vintage website before but i havent had to deal with them.
the place i bought it from was lovely and helpful though. i was looking for a westfield sg that was in a week earlier (the cheapest sg lol) and the only one they had was the vintage, which was #30 more than i had :-( so the guy knocked #40 off it for a tiny dent and coz it had been there a while and coz i'd come all the way looking for one! result!

i've been playing guitar only for 4 years... i own a crappy acoustic so this was my 1st electric but ive played many electrics before. this has been one of (or just) the best of them all! it sounds nice, it looks nice and does the job v well indeed! its good for starters AND people a bit more experienced and i think its a great alternative for people who cant quite afford a epi or gibson.
if it was stolen, i wud definately buy it again... twice, one in red and one in black if i had the money! even if i had more money than i do now, i'd rather get 2 vintage sgs instead of 1 epi sg as i know it does the same job and just as good at half the proce of an epi!
however the only complaint i'd have is that i wish the inlay makers were pearl like the epis but i'm just being picky now!

this SG has really got some oomph to it which im sure the epiphone does but not like the vintage. i mean, i like to play a lot of mettalica and the vintage is great for that sort of thing. for e.g when i play one by mettalica. i raised the pickups on my guitar and now it sounds great when i play any mettalica song or any song of the metal genre because its just so much louder than it was previously. anyway its a great guitar however like most guitars it does have its flaws. for e.g. the way you have to put the strap onits a little awkward if you have never had to wear a strap like that before and can take a little getting used to. another flaw would be that its not the most versatile guitar as you could probably only get away with playing a few types of music where it would come off sounding great, such as metal, rock and maybe a bit of blues and soul (you'd be lucky). oviously you can play anything you want to play but if you want a really great sounding guitar for rock, metal or punk ECT then pick up this guitar its a good one.

when you but the guitar the strings do need to be played for a while before thay set in properly. its just a few hours more than normal i suppose. about a days worth of solid playing set them in. the pickups are two humbucker pickups in the usual place and were not tilted in any way.

personally i dont think you would see to many proffesionals playing with one on stage to often as vintage mainly concentrate on making bass guitars (so im told). however you could use this on a live stage and it perfrom really well on stage but when you make it to the recording studio and are making that no.1 hit i dont think you would use it. you would more than likely get out youre gibson or ESP. but there is no reason you can't use this guitsr to get noticed because it wont let you down.

I love the colour finish to this guitar. Rosewood with a black scratch plate. Only bad thing about the black sratchplate is that it shows all scratches u have made pretty clear. Pickup selector is not too bad has a easy change from channel to channel. The bad thing about the strap is that if you let go of the guitar, beacause of where the points where you fit the strap, it falls to the ground so you need to be holding on to the guitar most of the time.

I have used this guitar once live and it was fine. But i would always take a backup guitar aswell just incase. I have had this guitar for about 3 months now and it more unless looks the same as i bought it. only difference is, is that there are a few scratches and thats it.
