OK I have the VRS110c which is the fixed bridge version, all black solid colour with white bindings. Not sure of the date. 24 frets with a solid top I believe. Single Volume and tone controls with 3 way PUP selector. Bridge and neck Wilkinson HB passive PUPS in Gold.
Sound
:8
I bought this guitar as I already have a HSS strat and wanted and rockier sound for playing 80's brit pop/punk and classic rock tunes. This guitar has it in spades. Playing through a Spider III 30W combo on Clean/Crunch/Metal and Insane produce great tones. As I am still a novice player it is rather noisy but this is my fault not the guitars.
The lower notes are a bit duller that further up the neck.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:8
As far as I can tell the action and intonation are spot on. Played it in the shop, boxed it up and then played it at home with no changes to the tuning. The action will go lower but thats for when I get better/faster at playing.
I cant see any noticable blemishes or faults in the set up. I bought this guitar with Tarnished PUPS/hardware. The white binding is yellowing too and this was reflected in the price (25% lower than the cheapest online price). Everything else is pretty good for the money. With the cosmetic blemishes the guitar already looks old/aged, without any knocks or dings.

Whilst I have never played on stage, everything seems solid and built to last. I'll post no opinion as due to my lack of stage experience I cant justify a grade, but I do intend to use it in anger at some point as this will be my primary guitar for a while now.

Not had to call on them yet, but I've got a 6 month guarantee with the shop I bought it from.

This guitar is far and away a much better instrument than my Westfield HSS EH1000 Strat. As soon as I picked it up it just felt right in my hands, not heavy like an LP, it just suited me I suppose. I also looked at and played the Vintage V100 LP copy and I have to say this guitar felt, played and sounded better to me.

I found this in a Stagebeat sale. Set neck, 24 frets, contoured body, Wilkinson pick-ups, all for 120 pounds (it normally is about 180 pounds). Absolute bargain surely!
The neck felt smooth and easy for any type of playing out there. Where's the catch? I would say that when playing basic chord shapes it felt rather "Encore-ish". However beyond the 5th fret and when soloing it is hard to distinguish it from an expensive model.
Sound
:9
With the set neck there was a lot of sustain and deep tones with this model. A couple of minor snags: It was very bassy which required me to adjust the amp setting when swapping guitars at a gig. My other niggle is that the bridge pickup is quieter than the neck pickup so when it came to a solo I lost volume and needed to either lose volume previously or use an effects pedal. That aside, it sounds great. It is great for Eddie Van Halen stuff and being decorate in a George Harrison (Sexy Sadie, Got to get you into my Life) manner. The treble pick up can give quite a good Hank Marvin sound.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:9
It was really well set up and no action adjustments were needed. I did give the fingerboard a few squirts of furniture polish to increase the smooth feel.
Reliability/Durability
:10
Although I have only had it for a few months it immediately became a guitar for gigs. The machine head hardly ever needs adjusting and the tremelo does not put it out of tune. Unlike my other set neck guitars I have no worries with this one if it falls over as I have every confidence it will not crack.

This guitar is I think the best Vintage guitar available. Their metal styles do not really compare to the Ibanez guitars but this certainly is as good as a PRS SE guitar. In fact it could even hold its own against an actual expensive PRS.
If you have always wanted a PRS guitar but could not afford one this is a good (and cheap) alternative. The price range of this guitar varies considerably but if you see it under 180 pounds it is a steal! It looks good too!

Mine is the discontinued Satin Tobacco Burst that has a flame like top. It is very close to a PRS in style. Mine has the fixed bridge. All hardware is WILKINSON. There was not a blem to be found.

I kove the sound of this. The Wilkinson Pickups are a bit on the hot side, but that is expected with this type of guitar. They are very articulate when played clean. I play through a THD Univalve into an Avatar cab with Celestion 70/80's in it. It will cover all kinds of rock and blues. It excels at stuff like Rush and even stuff like Creed.
Action, Fit, & Finish

This is tough. The first time I tried it, I might say it was a 7, but only because it came to the store set up a bit high and needed a slight tweak. I knew the shop well, and knew it would not go out the door without a tune up. Once they worked their magic, it was a solid 10.There were no issues with hardware or finish. The neck always felt sweet and the top is beautiful.

I have a number of other brans of guitars, from USA Gibsons to USA Fenders as well as Minarik and Godin's. This ranks up there with all of them I wish they had a 9 1/2 rating. This is very close to a 10. If it were stolen, I would cry since it is the discontinued color and I doubt there are more than a couple of these in the US since they currently have only two dealers in the US. I will get another Vintage. Probably the Icon Series Lemon Drop LP clone. I tried one and it was awesome also. I also tried a couple VRS 100's with trems in black and green. The Green had the PRS FAt wide type neck. Mine is a little smaller and more comfortable. The black was awesome and real close in feel to mine, but it was adorned with gold hardware and some nice binding. At around $650 US these things are a steal. They blow away the PRS SE models and are as nice as many of the USA lower end PRS models at less than half of the price.

Pretty good. The Wilkinson humbuckers are a bit on the hot side, but nice and warm. I have a Vintage strat copy (the V6) with very nice pickups also by Wilkinson. Good stuff.
I tried a VRS110 (fixed bridge) from before they had Wilkinson pickups etc, and it sounded rather muddy and uninspiring. This one is good.

As supplied it was poor (got it online), but I set up my guitars and after a little work on it it turned into a very nice guitar. If you're not comfortable with set ups, get the shop to do it for you!
The finish is not great, a few very minor cosmetic flaws here and there... but the fretboard is very nice and the frets are nicely finished.
The trem works, but it wasn't very well fitted in the factory (claw off-center, screws badly inserted into the wood...)... again, after a little adjustment it works well, but you've got to watch out for it, and make sure you get the guitar set up properly.
After set up I'd give it a 8-9, but as supplied, just a 3.

I've been playing for longer than I want to admit. I was looking for a cheap twin humbucker guitar after I decided to get rid of the Ibanez RG548. I wanted something more Les Paul alike but without the weight and with better fretboard access. The VRS range looked ideal and I am very happy with my other two Vintage guitars (a V6 strat copy and a jazz bass copy). I first tried a VRS110STS, beautiful instrument, but thin frets and the pickups were very uninspiring. This one didn't have Wilkinson hardware. So I had to find one with Wilkinson stuff... and on my way I got distracted and thought a trem would be nice after all. My favourite guitar is a white Richie Sambora Fender Stratocaster, and I thought the white VRS will look good next to it :-) The golden hardware makes it look a bit like a "pimp-guitar", if rappers played guitar they'd play a white guitar with gold hardware! But I actually like the way it looks. Most importantly, after I set it up, I love the way it feels (very nice neck, a bit chunkier than the previous non-Wilkinson version, but better for it!... nice medium frets, good weight and balance...) and the way it sounds. For the price it's a good guitar, despite the minor cosmetic flaws. I guess if I could find a similar VRS in a local shop I'd have got one that was well set up, and cosmetically in better condition... but it's really minor stuff nobody would noctice unless they look for it, and I lke to set up my own guitars... Structurally looks sound, and the hardware is good enough. Money well spent, I think.

Poor finish to body. Diabolical piece of rough-hewn wood for a fingerboard. The model it replaces had a fingerboard smoothed to perfection. The trem did not budge- it was set like this by the factory, apparently. The guitar no longer has a coil-tap sound achieved by pulling on the tone pot. They've just magicked it away without a word in their advertizing.

This guitar used to be the best-priced, best-sounding budget guitar available anywhere. It used to offer sound and quality far beyond its price range. I would now consider it to be as cheap and shoddy a piece of work as you would expect for half the price. The party's over folks. These new Vintage PRS copies are utterly worthless and I wouldn't have one as a gift- I don't want splinters in my fingers from that cheap fingerboard. What a travesty !

My old Vintage guitars ( one cherry sunburst with gold hardware and one black with stop-tail bridge) were wonderful instruments, and did me proud right up till I bought my genuine PRS Hollowbody II. I can honestly say I have never seen such a drop in standards in the space of less than a year. The UK importers JHS should be utterly ashamed of themselves. I have been playing for 35 years, and I would still use my older model Vintage VRS100's if I still had them. These new ones? Never!

Vintage VRS100, black or blue version which is mine. It looks incredibly good, has 2 capped humbuckers, a tremolo I think I'll leave off because I don't have a reason to use it yet (did use it though, and it's good as it is), 24 frets, 1 volume and 1 tone knob. It has a 3-way switch which really does make a welcome difference and the humbuckers are splittable by pulling the tone knob up. This is no joke - you really hear the difference and it works...
the guitar is an exact copy of - i think - the PRS CE24, and the body is well-shaped (glued in neck), the only difference in looks being the headstock, and i think that's just because of the legal issues involved :D
there's nothing in the form of accessoiries, except a few tools to adjust the action on your guitar - I'm still looking to fine tune it to a supersensitive action configuration.
The finish is amazing, the knobs feel real and the switch takes getting used to, but now that i'm used to it, I love it. the thing with it is, it's quite a small overly sensitive switch, making you feel as if it could fall back to middle position any second. It NEVER happens, I must say, and as I said, I've come to like it.
I think there's a nice rawwy rosewood neck on it (the dark version - I get confused with names, sorry) and it's very well cofigured.

My msic style is rock, blues, hardrock, some metal if it still sound like music and anything with a lot of energy and/or emotion in it. I use this guitar through a VOX AD30 amp which is an incredible amp with amazing versatality and sound production for around 250 dollars/euro's - I really advise it to many players.
The sound is amazing. Anything you want will be possible, whether it's ranking chords, fat solo's, a les-paul style impression, a strat style hendrix ripoff, a PRS style santanasound, any form of rock absolutely anywhere will deliver. The action is adjustable to play better making it sound better to whatever your playing grip likes, and the pickups are amazing. they sound very clear, but very full as well. you want it bright? pull the knob. you want it muddy? up with the tones. you want to cover the big solo-guitarists out there? no problem. the sound is flawless, and I love the guitar for it.
I think that, what many reviewers stated for it's extremely well price/quality value, is right. It really feels as if it is a far more expensive guitar, ESPECIALLY after you hear its sound. DO NOT, reapeat, DO NOT replace the pickups. would be a shame about the neck, its flawless sound and its perfection.
well done vintage.

Factory setup was good, but not perfect. the lower e-string was to low making it sound louder than the others, so I fixed it even before I plugged it in. the tone and volumes will be adjusted straight when you plug it in, and you'll come to like even the factory strings - I can't wait to make up my mind about strings and replacing them, it's going to be even better!
There's really no adjustment needed for the pickups, the bridge is good, I don't know what one of you were talking about bad tremolo system because it didn't ruin my tune, and in my case, there's no fret buzz anywhere. Its only flaw, which happens with every guitar, is that a perfect tuning makes the lower same notes (like play a high E and pay attention to the low E, same with A) resonate. I had it on every guitar I tested, and trust me I'm picky, but then again, we're talking about a difference of around 1500 euro's or dollars. I tell you, it's the only thing I could find on it - those gibson and prs fellas rob you!
the glued in neck is extremely well done - take a close look and see its gentle loop over the top the further you look: it guarantees an evenly divided action and in my case, not a bad fret anywhere!
due to the stupidly small action flaw, I can't give it 10.

This thing will definitly be a live guitar. the looks, the sounds, the reliability - can't have much better. the hardware looks very good, the finish will last for sure, the switch is easy to get used to and everything on it will last and last. extremely playable very nice sounding superb looking allincluding superguitar, this.
But, dear harmony-central, gigging without a backup is like throwing yourself to the lions. I think it will last any of it, though.

I'm not that much of a player, but I know my way around in the guitar business. I've got the Vox I mentioned and I like it, especially since my other second hand starting amp I've been stuck with for over 2 years is crap. It's overdrive is a simple clean - it "ploings" every sound...
The gear now is the vintage guitar and the vox, and I like it. It makes me able to play anything I like, and it's very well done alltogether.
If this guitar was a 2000 bucks guitar, I would give a 9. since it's a simple less than 400, it's definitly a 10.

Sounds like a PRS! I use a Marshall Valvestate 8080 and it sounds very good, clean aswell as distorted. Dont expect a "les paul" kind of sound of this baby, more of a strat sound. Altough, this guitar has alot of variety on sound.

This guitar was setup up ok. Action is great. No mistakes in wood or anything else. With alot of budget guitars you can see where they glued the neck to the body, but you can tell with this guitar. Good hardware, altough I miss the caps on them, but the black and blue version have caps. The switch seems a bit dogey but its still working fine. You might have to replace that one, it looks like its breaking at any time. But still im giving it a 10

Les Paul style tones, I prefer playing this clean using the neck pickup, it has a very sweet tone. I play Progressive Metal such as Opeth, plus some metal such as Metallica.
When played with overdrive/distortion this guitar can play heavy riffs as well as wailing solos with ease.

Bought guitar 2nd hand on eBay so not factory setup.
I changed the knobs to Les Paul style gold ones, just to make me think I have a REAL PRS Custom 22 ;)
Action was well placed, no string rattle. Only slight misdemeanours are: some tuning pegs are slightly lose, this does not affect tuning however.
also tremolo use easily knocks this guitar out of tuning, it could do with a Floyd Rose system.

This is a monster, a brilliant guitar if ever I layed my hands or eyes on one. It's twenty four frets of unerdulterated pleasure give four octaves suitable for new metal chops through to widdly, top-end Metallica style solos. It's also a peice of art in it's self, the lovely quilted maple top is to die for, in electric bluc, which mine is, or in sunburst its beautiful to look at. It has a double cutaway with the heel set well back so you can reach theat twenty fourth fret, if indeed you need to. It's also a solid neck, this guitar is made entirely form one peice of wood giving excellent tones. The pick-ups aren't the best in the world but for stock pick-ups on a guitar this cheap you're not gonna get much better. Theres two of em bridge and neck, a classic les paul/prs setup, the pick up gives lovely clean tones and the lead is brilliant for heavy metal riffery and general beef. These are controlled by two pots and a three way selector switch, easy enough to use but when you're reaching for the tremolo arm it can be quite easy to catch the selector switch which is a minor critisism of mine. The tremolo arm is self is fairly good, I practise a lot of metallica stuff and Kirk (lead guitar) is quite partial to some tremolo work, this guitar manages it just fine, you can give it plenty of hammer without knocking the guitar out of tune. Speaking of tune, you ought to find this guitar pretty easy to re-string, just feed the strings through the back, a doddle really, the strings will probably stretch and slip out of tune at first but they should settle after a few days and then hold fairly perfect tune. The machine heads themselves are again nice smooth quality engineered peices, they do their job just fine, no complaints there. The neck is a little small for anyone with big fingers, it's good if you've got nice thin long fingers but the small frets and close strings may prove troublesome for people with larger hands. I bought mine form Gough and Davy in Hull, it cost me #220 and came with no freebees, just came in a box naked as the day it was built. It' may be worth buying a hard case for this guitar, to preserve that lovely artwork body.

I'm a heavy metal hero, I cut my teeth on eighties metal and like nothing better than playing along to classic Metallica tracks. I have a marshall 100w head plugged into a 4x12 trace elliot cab, and from there onto my zoom 505 effects pedal and then into my guitar. I like to play on the bridge pick-up mostly with lots of gain, lots of bass, lots of trble a bit of middle and some reverb, this guitar bangs out a lovely thick rich distortion which can hand heavy palm muted runs, high end soloing, and big heavy distorted chops. Metallica is fast, very fast, and this guitar makes it really easy, I used to have a les paul copy and I found it hard to keep up on that, but on this guitar I have not trouble. But I'm not totally biased to distortion, I love to chill out with a bit of clean, Albatross by fleetwood mack sounds beautiful coming out of this guitar, as well as metallica's nothing else matters, another quality clean peice. Due to having the solid neck this guitar has oodles of lovely tone whether you want mental distortion or a classical country sound this guitar with do the talking.
Action, Fit, & Finish

To be fair when I bought this guitar it was pretty poorly set up, I've had it sent away and professionally setup, when I bought the action wasn't bad but there was some buzzing on the lower frets and the intonation was little off. Luckily with a #15 quid set up and a set of D'addario 9 gauge on the guitar lost all those small ails and really I've had no trouble since. To be fair everything else was fine when I bought, the picks ups and hard ware were beautifully polished as was the rest of the guitar. The build and contruction were and still are very solid, I take this guitar jamming weekly and play it for about five hours solid, it never looses tune, I don't have a stand and thus far it has incurred no damage. Bought from another shop this guitar may come perfectly set up, the minor problems I had were easily solved.
Reliability/Durability
:9
I batter my guitar pretty badly, I don't beleive in guitars as ornaments, mine guitar is a tool, an instrument and I give it plenty of stick. I holds tune perfectly a during live gigs and jamming alike, and holds tune just as well in my bedroom. I admit to being a bit of a nutcase at times and even when I'm really going at it the strap has never fallen off, and it has withstood a number of bad knocks and bumps in my hands and has suffered no visible or audible damage. I place alot of fair in it, I've given it a lot stick and it's been a good sport, my other guitar is out of commision at the moment and in gig's I rely solely on my vintage, in four gigs its not failed me. Grease can tend to stick to the finish from your hands and arms, but when I change the strings I always polish it and it comes up lovely and bright and as gorgeous as ever it was.
