This guitar was made in Korea. Twin Vintage No name humbuckers, cherry red wash. Tune O Matic Bridge (No Name). Generally a cheaper SG Copy, well made.
Sound

I play metal/punk/grunge (stuff like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Sex Pistols, Deftones etc.) It suits my style very well and you can make a lot of different sounds using just the pickup selector and the knobs. Great for a bassy warm metally sound and amazing through a tube amp.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:7
Slight buzzing on third fret. Fairly well set up, knobs slightly adjusted due to strain though. Otherwise very good
Reliability/Durability

Very sturdy guitar and well built. Seems like it will last a long time and has been thrown about quite a bit in the few months i've had it. Better than half the guitars out there and I intend to gig with in at a local music festival soon. Strap buttons are good and would probibly use it without a backup but may have a very cheap back up just in case. The finish will last. However one machine head snapped thus reflecting in the mark

A great second guitar that far surpasses the Squier Strat I had before. Everyone i play with is impressed as they think it is a #300-#400 pound guitar. Worth double its price. Great, even if it has minor flaws

I don't know when it was made or where. 22 Frets, 2 Volume knobs, 2 tone knobs and 3 way pickup selector. 2 Humbuckers. It's an SG, you no what's no it. Pickups are stock ones, I don't know bout the neck bot the body seems to be mahogany. Black gloss finish. SG style body. (I'd hope so on an SG copy...). Same bridge as the Gibson. Tuners are no name one's. Same scale as the gibson, you know all this already.

Well I play stuff from Hendrix and Led Zeppelin to Metallica and Megadeth. As I'm on a budget I needed a guitar that'd be good at both, and for 170 quid this does the job. I must admit I've yet to see exactly how much it can do due to the limitations on other equipment. It's sound however is much more than you could hope for on a budget guitar, the neck is warm and the bridge is bright with plenty of clarity, maybe a little too bright at times but adjusting settings can compensate. I've played through a Marshall AVT150 briefly in the shop and it sounded very good distorted on that. It was crunchy but clear, not muddy. My Fender SP-10 however muddys it on overdrive. A very good pair of pickups, and although I may still replace with Seymour Duncans I'm not sure I'll really need to.
Action, Fit, & Finish

Ok, this guitar was about as well finished as a Gibson (which these days isnt such a good thing). Everything fits, no noticeable blemishesin the finish, though to my suprise one or 2 dings in the pickgaurd and a scratch on the neck humbucker (how???). The action and pickups were adjsuted by the owner of the shop, rather well I might add. Reasonably no but not so it buzz's a lot. But, a the end of the fret board, it appears that it has been cut after finishing as the end is unfinished. There are also patches of slightly less smooth finish on the inside of the "horns". The inlays are plastic not abalone but who cares about cosmetics? And besides the headstock logo is abalone - I can quite easily live with it. One thing that was different to the normal SG,s (aside from the headstock) was the angle the pickup selector is mounted at. On every SG I've tried it's mounted so the switch moves vertically. On this, it's angeled so that it's inline with the my hand when i move it down in an arc from picking position. I don't know if this is an accident or ergonomics but it's kool.

This guitar would deffinately withstand live playing. It's lighter than some guitars but solid as a rock. The neckjoint is set excellently and the finish is well applied (except the inside of the horns but how muc hwear do they take?). The hardwear seems durable though will be swapped out for cosmetic reasons eventually. I deffinately feel I can depend on it, BUT i WILL have to replace the strap buttons. The jack seems a little loose but it's fine when you screw it tight, probably an oversite on the manufacturers part.

Not dealt with them, but it has a warranty and the guy in the shop seems very decent. So a 5, not because it's bad, but because I only know about the shop and the warranty.

I've been playing 6 months, which isn't long, but I've been messing around wit hguitar's so to speak much longer, 2 years I suppose. I play it through a Fender SP-10 amp. Not the best amp but it was cheap and it's better than nothing. If it was stolen or lost I would TRY and get another. I lvoe this guitar, it looks cool, it sounds MUCH cooler. I plan to put a different pickgaurd on, purely cosmetic hange, and maybe different knobs. (mirror pickgaurd and the knobs with those lil silver inserts). Before I was looking to have to buy bigname pickups to replace the stock ones, but so far these seem to be just fine, and I'll only buy different pickups to refine my sound, a preferance rather than refelction of quality. I looked over various guitars and out of various SG copies (I can't afford a Gibson!) including the Epiphone G400 and Gothic G400, and a Legend guitar, this came out as the best. Not only that, but the cheapest. Not an amazing guitar when played next to a PRS or a Gibson, but then again for a 10th the price it absoloutly anihialates them! Superb guitar to start on.

Not sure exactly when or where this thing was made, Korea id imagine.
Its got 22 low profile frets which are extremely well finished for such a cheap guitar with the usual SG traoezoid ( i think) inlays.
The body is made of mahogony, the neck is maple and the fingerboard is rosewood. It's the usual SG config. with 2 humbuckers and 2 vol/tone controls and a 3 way switch which pretty much gives you everything you'll need. The pickups dont have a name i dont think and they are passive. My one is the gloss black finish which is absolutely flawless (the whole guitar is absolutley beautiful). the bridge is tune-o-matic and cant see any reason why its any different from that af a #3000 Gibson. I was very impressed with the machineheads on this thing, for #120 i was expecting shitty plastic things that slip out of tune all the time, these ones however are excellent, they stay in tune and are made of nice chunky chrome (better than the epiphone tuners any day).

my musical style consists mostly of blues , punk , rock and hard rock, this guitar is perfect for all of these , It gives an excellent tone form both pickups, the bridge has a lot of bite and gives great mid and treble definition, the neck is extremely clear and un muddy and gives a nice balanced sound with more emphasised bass. I'm using it through an avt15oh and 4x12 cab and sounds perfect for me, I can easily go from jimmy page to tony iommi to angus young without any drastic changes to the amp or guitar, if however you want a hendrix type tone then its not perfect but still does a good job (I use my strat for this so its not a problem for me). oh and when played clean the sound is totally different from my strat nowhere near is good sounding (although this sound can be good for certain sounds e.g the green manalishi) so in other words it doesnt sound like a strat does clean but is a lot better for overdriven rhythms and screaming leads
Action, Fit, & Finish
:10
when the guitar arrived I was amazed at how well it was set up, the intonation was spot on and the action only had to be lowered about 1mm to suit my taste. It was out of tune but that cant be helped. liek I said before , the finish on this thing has to be seen to be believed , the finish on my particular one is up to gibson standards (apart from the 3ply pickguard which is a bit ragged round the edges) apart from that though there are no complaints whatsoever with the finish

I've only had it for a couple of days but i dont see why anything could go wrong with it in a hurry, all the parts seem to be put together very well.

I've been playing for 4/5 years and this is my second electric (my other is a mexican strat) , I have a AVT150h and 4x12 cab , and no pedals (keep it simple). If someone stole this guitar or if it broke I'd definitely buy another one coz lets face it there are no other guitars on the market at this price that come close to this (Epiphones are twice the price and in my opinion are pretty fuckin lousy compared to the vintage)

This guitar was aqcuired by me by swapping it for a Hifi system which i paid a tenner for, it was brand new and boxed in the shop, and the owner offered me to swap as i sell wholesale items.
First, its a two way switch with the usual four controls for an Sg. The pickups are silver humbuckers, the body is close to the original shape of the SG to but not perfect. I own a Gibson SG special so it was easy to make comparisons.
The main difference is the the point at whcih the neck is joined to the body, the Vintage is joined 2 or 3 frets higher making the neck feel really long, but its just a matter of getting used to it.
Its in a cherry grain effect, it seems a very good finish, although it does look quite nice, there does seem to be a slight cheapness to it, but who cares really??
Also the scratch plate isnt up to much really, with an extra small piece being screwed to the body between the neck pickup and neck to fill the gap.
It is nice to have the Gibson logo at the top of your headstock, bt if you gave this to a blind man he would have trouble telling the difference.
Sound

I play mostly blues/rock - Hendrix, Lynyrd Skynrd, Cream, Creedence etc etc. I've only used it with a small fender frontman so far, but will be rehearsing shortly with a JCM marshall.
To be honest, there wasnt really much differnce between my Gibson and this, the Gibson did have a slighter warmer sound on the neck setting though. There may be some larger difference when playing with the band when its turned up to 11 on the amp.
Overall i thought it was an excellent sound, i may even start using this more often and use the Gibson just for gigs.
Infact yes i have just convinced myself, i am not going to sell it on i am keeping, afterall it only cost me a tenner.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The action was slightly high when i got it, but not sure if it was the factory setting or the shops. Slight alteration and it was OK. Pickups were good (but there is a slightly large movement to the bridge pickup.)
The glued neck did look slightly shoddy as in a bit rough, but its only a small blemish on an otherwise nice guitar.
Reliability/Durability

Seems like a nice strong guitar, and at the retail price, i saw one on the net for #143, theres no worries of giving it a bit of hammer.
I probably would use it on a gig without a backup, although a point about the toggle switch it did sometimes pop out of the rythym setting.

Obviously if your after an SG copy this is ideal but SG's do have a lot of tone, and Les Pauls offer a bit more variety, but overall a very nice guitar.
Excellent beginner guitar, excellent SG copy - only worries might be the vintage transfer on the headstock but apart from that very good.
I have a Gibson Les Paul studio, Gibson SG special, Epiphone Riviera and now this and to be honest, its not out of place.

Ok,this is just a quick review based on playing this for 15 minutes, while shopping for spares..Features as below.
It was Black-as-night-Black.
headstock looks a little naff if you're into cosmetics,if it plays well-who cares.
Sound

I play all styles and usually use Gibsons and Yamahas, mostly blues,rock,bues/rock,rock'n'roll,heavy rock.
I think the amp was a 30 watt Marshall. It sounds fine and does a very nice Gibson copy, clean and dirty sounds ring out true. the humbuckers are a little bright, but if you change the capacitors you'll be able to change that. The range of sounds it made was as good as am Epi LP special, twice the price- tested a couple of months ago.Absolutely adequate and with some tweaking it would make a fine backup for my Gibson. I maanged to play some low volume clean blues,Zep and a bit of Sabbath - which it handled very well.
Action, Fit, & Finish

Damn fine little guitar everything worked well, the pots had a good taper -responded smoothly, switch seemed quiet.Finish was fine apart from the dodgy looking plastic inlays looked a little like smeared butter at the first fret, but that's a poser's worry and again that Epi was worse in the finish department.Nut well cut and the guitar had a low easy playing action and the neck appears to stand up to Gibson profile quite well, tuners seemed a little weak, but what do you expect.
Frets well cut,no rough ends,no choking, although this was a limited test as i've got a cold (diddums) and did'nt do a really exhaustive test.
In a nutshell there's room for improvement, but, you won't get much better quality up to say #400.
i'll give it 8 as you always spot something when you get them home.
Put it this way,i'm going back to buy it ASAP

Yes, I think, seems tough..yes, hardware up to good standard...Finish,difficult to tell..seems ok...This sectiion is all a guess so i'll try 8,pretty darn good all round.

I've been playing too long to bother with absolute tat [18-19 years if you must know how old a fart i am),and though it's a little bit ho-hum,I've played enough piles of shite in my life to be able to tell a nice guitar. Currently own,Gibson,Yamaha,Kramer,Fender and Cheri guitars.
I'll be going back for this guitar for a backup to my Gibson, when i have the #$ and if it stands up to playing for a longer more thorough go, I can't say that about any other low buck guitar i have tried lately.
i played a Cox Telecaster in the shop too,(ok, it's a different syle, but a similar price) and that seemed like it was made out of plastic in comparison, although it was Okish.
The last word-if you need a cheap guitar swallow your preconceptions, and cosmetic poncyness and try a few of these - play for longer than i did though;)-.It'll wipe the floor with just about any of the well know copies up to the #3-400 mark. I'll be getting one and i'm quite a fussy old fart.
Completely recommended to beginners too. Epiphone bully? - forget it.

Made in korea, 22 frets, laminated top, 3-way selector, 2 volume, 2 tone controls. Pickups are 2 humbuckers, mahogany body,
body is SG style, close to the original but a little less pointy.
Tune-o-matic bridge.
swapped it for a gordon smith GS-1 and got a case free with it.
All the usual SG features apart from a whammy bar.

I must admit that before I bought this guitar I hadnt even heard of Angus Young or many other axe murderers who have murdered this axe.
I just bought it cos it looked nice.
I play my own brand of hendrix style stuff so you could argue that I should be playing a strat but the sound quality of Squier strats to me sounds apalling, for the same price this guitar may not be perfect but In my opinion it sounds as good as the epiphones if not the gibsons. (okay maybe a little far-fetched)
It picks up high frequency buzzing sometimes but if you take the TREBLE tone knob down to 5 its gone.
It doesnt put out much bass, not much at all, but its great for lead and crunch alike.
if you fiddle your fingers around the top 10 frets of the top 2 strings the high-as-the-sky lead parts really squeal.
doesnt sound too brilliant on the first few frets, sounds a bit thin but if you use a stomp box eq you can pull out some really full tones by just adjusting it slightly.
Action, Fit, & Finish

brilliantly set up. glued in neck and everything is smooth as a goblin's goldfish. (?) The action is looooowwww down there against the frets and ive taken it up a few mms but its still there on the E and A strings. (Im usually the kind of person who likes the strings about a mile from the fretboard oddly enough!)
(i play upright bass)

im sometimes worried about this guitar. it feels a bit fragile. could be something to do with how the neck is like twice as heavy as the body!
The finish is about an inch thick (it looks like glass) so theres no worries there.

i also own a westone thunder 1A, an Art & Lutherie spruce acoustic,
and some electro harmonix pedals.
oh yeah the VS6 sounds great with my 'Snarling Dogs' wah pedal.
I WOULD buy another if this one was stolen cos i havent seen any alternative to it for the same price.
The only thing I hate is that people keep running up to me saying ooh ooh wow an SG! and then as soon as they see the logo theyre like,
"oh,its just a bloody copy!"
