2 pedals in one. This is the new one(V2)The first is an overdrive with a bass boost switch, tone knob, etc. The second is an distortion with a sharp/blunt switch ie. mid-treble boost/bass boost. Pretty sturdy box but i have only had it a couple of days

I run a Peavey XXX(plexi modded by a local dude)I run the J/H, Bad Horsey Wah(Front)Moog 12 Stage Phaser, Visual Sound H2O(original), Keeley Katana, Artec Analog Delay, Lexicon Reverb, DBX EQ, BBE Sonic Maximizer(Loop)I am a gigging musician in a prog-rock band. I bought this pedal after my Zoom TT died, probably for the best. I have always stayed away from outboard OD's because they just cant replace a good tube amp OD. I now stand corrected. There is a little mid/low freq muddiness but then again I have only had a day to fiddle with it. Though within that day I gigged with it and it performed like a champ. Im sure if i spent a little more time with it i could work it out. The main thing I like about this pedal is that it works extremely well with your natural amp OD. Most OD pedals get in the way or try to overtake your amp drive so its difficult to stage them properly without loosing all the harmonics and dynamics that only tubes can deliver. Another awesome thing about this pedal is that you can adjust the internals to create your own unique J/H. In fact, they encourage you to do so in the manual(adjust screw X to affect frequency range A and so on)This really is a fantastic pedal that emulates an 808 very well and completely blows away any Boss POS distortion.Dont buy those pedals unless its a tuner or DD5. To sum up this is simply the finest outboard OD/Dis I have ever heard. Well worth the $160.00 I will follow up this review later if it happens to explode and set my house on fire or sleep with my girlfriend. Otherwise, I have nothing but good things to say about this wonderful piece of equipment. Cheers

I have the newest version of this pedal (the V2) only a few differences here and there.-- definitely looks cooler that the older ones. It has both distortion and overdrive options, which you can play at the same time, essentially creating a 3 in 1 pedal and you can get lots of different sounds from this thing. This is by far the greatest pedal I've ever used. It will make your solid state sound like a tube amp on overdrive. It kicks ass!

The sound can go from melting butter, to boiling a live lobster, and morph into a growling wolfman with a raging hard-on for buttered lobster. Seriously it has a rich and handsome sound. The scoop on the overdrive side comes in handy and so does blunt/sharp switch.

Looks great, very sturdy, and easy to understand. The new V2 model has something in it to keep it from frying if you use the incorrect power source or phantom power. Also the face of it comes up over the knobs to protected them from dancers smashing the knobs in while you're playing and also from changing around when you move this to your next gig. On the older models, people had to draw a diagram of where the knobs were and reset befor3e each gig.

I would use this without a back-up. I like to live dangerously. It's very sturdy, so you don't need a back-up.

Haven't needed it yet, actually before I bought the pedal I called the makers with questions and the guy I spoke with was very knowledgeable and helpfull. I've also heard great things about the owner of this little boutique pedal.

I play through a Gibson SG Special and Line 6 Spider II 212 amp with the fbv floor pedal. While my amp is plenty loud, the modelers sound like fart- see below. After I got this thing, it sounds great through my amp, just like tube overdrive. Or distortion, whatever gravies your biscuit.

Red as and looks cool.
gains, levels, eq knobs, bass boost, sharp/blunt switch.
Green led could have been blue for ultra coolness

First let me say this there seems to be two kinds of guitar players ones that like the overdrive/distortion that comes from an amp/head by switching channels and ones that like to get a good clean sound and then effect it wil pedals. I definately live in the later category I have yet to find a good amp overdrive sound that you can color as good as you can with pedals. Although i enjoy the Mesa triple rec sounds I still live for that great crystal clean sound that is just about broken and then driving it with overdrive pedals. Insert visual sound here.

Two pedals in one.
First side is just like a tube screamer but better because it has a bass boost on it and sounds epic. I run a Voodoo Labs Sparkle Drive before this pedal and layer my gain stages. The sparkle drive does do a better job at creating the sound it was created to do which is that cleanish sound with a kick, sonically the best overdrive pedal in the world hands down, and it has a clean boost feature which is unreal.

Anyway the overdrive section of this pedal (J&H) is great on its own and great as a second gain stage also. The thing i like about it is I can still hear the guitar through the pedal which is critical (Epi LP and ESP PC-1V). The tone knob is not as diverse as i would like but it does the job just like most tone knobs on these kinds of pedals. The bass boost function really helps to get all the low end that you need.

The distortion side of this pedal is the real magic here cause it can help you create so many different sounds. Firstly the sharp/blunt switch is more then just an EQ isolator it really adds a third pedal to this two pedal combo. And the tone knob and eq knob allow you to get a lot of different sounds by controlling mids and the like.

I play rock and church music and this pedal covers that with ease

I have been playing for 15+ years and have tried it all. After all that there are a few things that i know
1. modeling is only because you cant afford the real thing
2. Digital overdrive/distortion will always suck and sound like a fart
3. Boss is not the king except when it comes to easy use delay pedals BRING BACK THE DD-5!! HOW HARD IS IT!!!
4. 2 pedals for the price of one is good
5. Get this pedal if you want real tone
