Transparent gloss finish, Les Paul DC (double cut) like body, stop-bar tune-O-matic bridge, 24 frets (rosewood ?) neck, 2 high-power double-blades humbuckers (looks like DiMarzio X2N ?), each with a serie/parallel switch and volume and tone buttons, plus a Les Paul like 3-way master switch. The (very nice) neck is going thru the body. I don't know which woods have been used, but boys, it's incredibly heavy.

Sound : 10
I'm mostly playing blues and 70's rock, and I'm more than fully satisfied. Plugged on my JCM800 Marshal, I've an incredibly hot and rich sound, a wonderful sustain, and the guitar's responsivness is a pleasure - even if it took me some times to master the beast.

I also sometimes play other styles like funk, reggae, and a bit of jazz, and except perhaps for jb-like funk (where I failed to get the sharp, cutting sound I'd like), it has proven to be a very versatile instrument.

For the record, by the time I bought this axe, I was working as second sound-engineer in a 24-track studio, and quite a few great professional guitarists had a chance to give it a try - they *all* wanted to buy it to me, whatever their favorite style !-)

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
NB : I got this guitar second-hand, but the friend that sold it to me told me he never changed nor adjust anything on it, so I guess it was the original setting.

What to say ? The action is very low, and (I was not a great guitarist by the time) I first had trouble to avoid a bit of fret noise. But once I did find out how to master the beast, it proved to be one of the most confortable and easy guitar I've ever played with. The frets never come in the way, the neck is just great, the guitar is well balanced, a real pleasure. The only drawback may be the weight...

Reliability/Durability : 10
What to say ? I've made lots of gigs, studio sessions and whatnot with it, I've been using it for years, and it's still here, pretty clean and in perfect state. Rock solid is the word.

Bought it second hand, so I can't say. But one thing is sure : the manufacturer seems to have forgotten it had once built one of the best electric guitar ever. Too bad :(

Overall Rating : 10
I'd certainly feel very depressed if it was stold or broke - since it's almost impossible to find another one, and it's been my One True Love ever since I first laid my hands on it some 20 years ago. I've played with quite a lot of other guitar (I really like the Telecaster and some Gibsons), but always sold them after a while. I've only kept this one, and will not sell it whatever the price. No way, never.

Best guitar I have ever played and I have played them all.I didn't buy this guitar because it was a name brand guitar,I bought it because it had a soul. I,m not one for feature ect. So see a previous review for that

Sound : 10
I play my own style which is a cross between Blues Rock and Folk.Regardless of what amp I use I am still awed at the infite combinations of sound i can get. This guitar makes any one soun good.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I have no Idea how the factory set this guitar up originally since I bought it used. There is no fret wear on this guitar and absolutley no fret buzz.the action is second to non.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar is one tough customer. It is solid. It is over 20 years old and still plays like new. It's only flaw is its weight because it is built like a Brick S House. This guitar has never let me down. Why take two guitars to a gig?

Customer Support : No Opinion
Like i said previously this guitar has never let me down.so this rating does not apply

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for 44 years.I have a Japanese Srat,an Ovation Bread winner. a 12 string Woodie Guthrie, an Ovation acustic and a washburn Traveler. All but the traveler where bought on how they sounded and how they played. This guitar is irreplacable and if it went missing I would be very upset. I saw an ebay option to buy on this guitar in the U K for 20,000 Pounds. It is very rare and if You have one do not sell it. If anyone has one I would like to hear from them rileyl@tbaytel.net

This model has 24 frets on a rosewood neck with mother of pearl inlays and a brass nut. It has two twin Di Marzio pickups with an 'series/parallel' switch for each and a separate three-way pickup selector switch above the pickups (bridge, neck, bridge + neck). There are two sets of volume and tone knobs, one for each pick-up. It has a sort of Gibson SG body shape. The headstock is rectangular with a nice notch at the top. The neck is a 'straight-though', running all the way through the body with two separate pieces glued on the side. The body and neck is hard rock maple and it weighs a ton. The bridge is a fixed string-thru type with individual string adjustment, so the harmonics are perfect.

Sound : 9
It is a great-sounding guitar. Nice rich warm lows and a sharp attack with the bridge pickup. There is a strange phased zone with the middle pickup selector setting which is quite useful. It is very quiet, no hum at all. It's great for blues and rhythm, but also excels as a lead guitar. If you run it clean into a good amp you can get an almost acoustic sound out of it. All-in-all a very versatile guitar.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Action is VERY low with no fret rattle. Together with the string spacings and thin neck make this makes it a good guitar for lead work. I got this second hand so I can't comment on the factory set up. I set it up myself and it really is a reliable instrument. It will stay in tune for days (I'm not kidding!). The finish is really very good, and where i have chipped it in a couple of place you can see that the laquer is very thick.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I've not had a problem with this guitar in fifteen years. Built like a tank. I have used it live and it is totally solid.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I got this second-hand in a guitar shop in Brixton London. So, no guarantee. It needs one machine head replacing because someone dropped it, but I haven't got around to it yet.

Overall Rating : 10
Vox doesn't have it listed on their site, but that's pretty standard for their '80s guitars. They were made in Japan between 1982-5.
I have been playing for 25 years. This is the best guitar I have played (except for a sixties strat a friend had). If I lost it I would be distraught. If I could save one object from a house fire it would be this guitar. I have been trying to get another similar model (a Standard 24 or one of the 25s) recently - I tell myself it's for a back-up but I just love these guitars, and they are now rocketing in value. The last C24 on Ebay went for ??400(UK).
Overlooked in recent years because they are not as trendy as the earlier Vox guitars, these are forgotten gems. The Vox Story book describes this series as 'the best guitars ever made my Vox'. They're not wrong.
