OK, this isn't the coolest looking Vox on the planet, but it's one of the better playing models!
Mine was pretty much new old stock when purchased, glossy finish. Nothing flashy, a guitar to get the job done.
Made in approximately 1966, mine came with the whammy bar. Nothing else. No case, nothing. Everything on it is original.

I bought this guitar because you can get that nasty Arch Hall Jr. crunch outta the thing. Plays surf music like it should be played. I play it thru the various Vox amps we have around the house but I want to play it through a Fender Princeton and see how it sounds.

The action on my guitar was OK, but I needed it set a little lower. So after 20 years of playing the thing, I'm finally getting that done!!
The pickups are like a dream, the the bridge needed to be fixed.
One pickup selector has been noisy, it just needed to be cleaned. Everything on this guitar still looks and plays almost brand new. 2 dings to the finish. Only two people have ever worked on this guitar. Only those who would honor the Vox in all it's original glory!

This guitar is built to last. All but the darned whammy bar. I'm very VERY careful with the whammy bar.
I would never use a Vox at a gig without a back up. Even an Italian made model. Just don't stay reliably in tune.

I've been playing this guitar for 25 years or so. I own other original Vox gear. Only Vox.
I love this guitar because not too many people have one. I've at least never met another woman who has one!! People who collect Vox usually don't bother with a Hurricane, I think that's partially why I think it's cool. It's underestimated.
I really can't compair this guitar to any other "normal" guitar. The only other electric guitar I owned before this was a Sears Saturn. The thing had a neck like a 1/2 of a baseball bat!! That was the worst guitar EVER to play, so this one naturally seemed like a dream.
I wanted an accoustic/electric to play folkrock on. The guitar fairy brought me a mid-60's Vox model one year for Christmas! Now I want for nothing but maybe a Fender Princeton.

This is a mid 60's guitar made in italy. It's got a really nice glossy finish that still looks new. This vintage guitar is funky and great with a real "surf guitar" look; similar to a jaguar or something. The tuners, cause of the age, are pretty tough but with a bit of oil is fine. The whami bar is broken, most of these usually do on the hurricane. It sounds great and pickups provide a lot of variety in sound. You can get the low muted tone, a sharp rock tone and a really cool treble tone which sounds more like it's coming through a radio. In conclusion, this vintage guitar is still in great shape with dings and cracks from wear.

I play classic rock and blues and this guitar holds up. It can go from any style and really holds up to fenders and gibsons with its pickups. Sound is very good, with a marshall or fender tube amp especailly. It has a lot of variety for most styles.

The action is very good, although I had a couple problems. For my guitar, this might not apply to all, the g string was a bit of a pain to bend, just because it easily slips. I slips out and sort of rubs, hard to describe. It's not a really big deal, action is very good on most frets. The way the neck is set up it's a bit harder to play highest frets: don't expect to absolutely wail. The store did the action etc... and plays very well. The finish is great, wood notso sure. Everything just plays well.

This guitar I've only had for a couple weeks, but seems like it will last. The fact that it's a vintage 60's with little work, and still plays and sounds great proves something. It doesn't seem likely for it to short out at this point. The finish is good to last, it hasn't worn after fifty years. I would depend on it for live and studio playing.

Not sure, I would imagine it's not great cause it's not made.

I've been playing about 2 years and play blues/classic rock. I have a large marshall amp and rent a 165 watt for stereo in performances. This guitar looks awesome, it caught my attention immediatley and is a perfect vintage guitar. It looks like a jaguar or something funky like that, without the huge price. I have a 2 gibsons, sg and les paul; 2 fenders telecaster and stratocaster. This guitar holds up to all and more, the look and sound really make it a bargain.

this VOX isnt even a VOX anymore. it has Carvin tuners, the electronics/ pickups are from a 80's Ibanez EX350(which actuall gives it a killer sound). no pick guard, all my stuff is glue-gunned in. the neck was taken out and the cavity was enlarged to fit a bigger neck. i ended up putting the original neck back in and glue-gunning it so it wouldnt move around. i put alot of glue in front of the neck heel to make it a "smooth" transition to the body.

sounds almost like a strat with a touch of IBANEZ goodness. i play good ol fashoned rock and roll. and a little bit of blues, and metal. in my opinion, this guitar could SMASH a fender!

60's made in italy, twenty two frets, solid body, two single coil vox pickups, bigsby-like factory tremelo, factory vox tuners, the hurricane looks like a cross between about 3-4 differnt fenders...jag,mustang,strat, and duo-sonic. neck feels similar to a gibson, due to its size. one volune 2 tone knobs, 3 way selector switch soun is completely differnt from one to the next.My guitar has seen its better day- alot of little dings etc...but it also ads to the mojo of being a vintage guitar, your not afraid to play it.

I use a vox pathfinder to power up my old univox minimax 15" speaker. I get a great sound out of it. has a nice jingle, rickenbackeresque sound. suits my style

Action is good but I have alittle too much fret ware at #2 and I play the d chord alot so that bugs me. guitar is solid. The rating i'm giveing is for my guitar

Seems to hold up good to play my trem spring is too weak to use, but with proper spring i think it would be fine. The hollowbody vox guitars cost alot more than the solid bodys, but i dont think their worth it. most of them are very cheaply made (however some I've played are great) most are kind of crappy. The solids are made pretty good so save your money and buy a solid, not a hollwbody. This is my back up guitar, could be an everyday player but I have some better guitars as well
