Japan made 22 fret semi-hollow passive guitar with a volume, tone, 3-way pickup selector, and a 3-way tap per pickup. Very nice body style single cut with a unique back bent contour to hug the body. This model is all mahogany and also has a bone nut, newly designed "S" shaped tuning pegs and a genius bridge system that offers the greatest amount of intonation adjustment ever and has full contact with the large posts that anchor into a tone-bar system comprised of mahogany. 25" scale neck and a really nice velour interior hardshell case. The unique pickup system has 3 rails. Can't say you've seen that anywhere else. This thing has several features never seen before....hence the 10.

Sound wise it suits my 70's type Zep sound very well. Can also get very modern sounds as well. Playing it through a Vox AC30, Nick Greer Sucker Punch Distortion, EH Phaser, Digitech Whammy, EH chorus, EH tremolo, and Eventide Time Factor delay and it sounds excellent with this setup. Roll off the tone and you get that mid pronounced "No Quarter" type tone. I haven't detected any noise with any of the pickup settings. The P-90 settings and humbucker settings don't sound too tremendously different from one another. Too slight to really matter...especially with the band in motion. I would have preferred a better neck single coil instead. It's my favorite clean setting and it sounds kinda marginal on this axe. Nothing really special. I do like how this semi-hollow sustains like a solid body guitar. Fixes the main problem with semi-hollow guitars. Overall, the guitar is more mid scooped than other semi-hollows....which is nice because that kinda honkey semi-hollow tone is tamed by this axe.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The guitar was setup quite well. Action was set well and everything adjusted pretty nicely. It plays quite nicely. Only thing is you can see the wood junctions through the finish on the top. There's a slight indention where the wood joins. In addition, the bone nut is terrible. The guitar pings on the high strings indicating sticking...in fact most all the string are sticking. Needs a nut job right off the bat, hence the 7.

Other than the sticking nut the guitar seems extremely reliable and durable. All the hardware seems top of the line and I mean top of the line. I replaced the strap buttons with Dunlop strap locks but I do this on all my guitars. I'd say the guitar is put together better than 98% of guitars these days. I always use a backup not because of the guitar but because of the strings....they don't last forever.

I've owned a slew of other guitars and I'd say soundwise this axe is closest to the Carvin Holdsworth H2. This is an extreme compliment as that's one of the finest guitars I've ever played. Playability wise it has no peers. When sitting the body just wraps around you and makes you want to keep playing. It negligible when standing though. Especially if your guitar hangs low. This guitar really loves some distortion...which is atypical of a semi-hollow. It think it's close to a home run. Maybe a few neck pickup tweeks, a better nut, and some closer QA on the tops and we've got a slammer. I have to give it a 9 for the sake of them trying something new and really offering a unique guitar. It truly has features offered on no other guitar.

Picked up my Vox DC in cherry red 2 months ago from a guitar shop in New York City. This one has the lot. The possible combinations on the two pick up selector switches and the main selector are amazing. Everything about this guitar is absolutely beautiful. Made in one of Japan's top guitar factories (FujiGen Gakki) that has produced the best of Ibanez and Yamhaha (and I believe )Fender. It is one of the lightest guitars I've played and it is sculpted to fit the body whether playing standing or seated. Aluminium bridge and semi hollow body means it can be played acoustically, although without the volume obviously. The neck is 25 and 1/4" and smooth as silk. Beautiful inlays and binding. Finish is immaculate. A real gem.

Using it through A Vox DA15 and a JamVox. The sustain is awesome. Very full sound. I play mostly rock and blues and this guitar is capable of anything. Literally.

Top quality timbers, electronics and fittings make this a real stand out. No flaws in the construction whatsoever. Slight buzz on low E string, which is just some final set up I've yet to get around to. 3 coil DiMarzio pick ups are versatile. Action is fast and easy.

This is a light guitar but with the feel of quality timbers combined with craftsman construction. Rare these days. Everything about it is solid. Professional grade instrument easily up to live performances.

Been playing for over 40 years, seriously again for the past 3 years. Love everything about this guitar. My other guitars include a Gibson SG, Dan Smith era Fender Strat, 2004 Fender Tele, Yamaha SA1100, 1978 Ibanez Musician MC 500 and a Hohner G3T. If this baby was lost or stolen I'd definitely have to get another one. Not the cheapest guitar around, but you have to compare it to the best there is, ie Custom Shop guitars at the top end, because that's the league the Virage is in. Try one and you will see the value.

OK..... IT"S HERE!
I just received my Vox Virage. Black double cut. Let me start by saying that it's everything Vox said it would be. Unique in many ways. First looks. IT'S BEAUTIFUL! all the hardware is very cool, even down to the "S" shaped tuners. Yep... S shaped. Your thumb and forefinger fit perfectlly to adjust. Actually, fits so well, that I felt I had even etter fine motor control of the head. Jut the way it fits gives excellent leverage for fine adjustments. Never heard abbout this and didn't expect it. The plastic covers for the three blade pups, that some people didn't like, look extremely cool, and match the volume and tone knobs. Very different look. The bridge is also a real looker, very different and extremely clean. The craftsmanship is excellent. No flaws of any kind. Excellent inlay and fret work. Solid wood throughout as promissed. Inside of body is very clean, without the normal bracing structures. The guitar is extremely comfortable and light as hell. It fits right into your mid section/rib area and feels very natural. Puts your picking arm and hand a really good angle.
The action came adjusted just where I like it, right from the factory. I appreciate that.
Cool little extras like two three way switches to change voicing of the pups. With 3 pups and three that works out two 27 possible settings PER PUP!

The Dimarzio 3 way pups sound great. With the pup switch and two tone changing switches you have an amazing combination of voicings, with out adding any pedals. Can't wait to start playing this bad boy through some of my pedals."NO MUD" on any setting, and I tried them all. The tone is excellent, with exceptionally nice sustain. All tone settings are sooooo clear. Now one thing I didn't expect.... the tone switches both work in combination to change the sound, regardless of where you have the pup selector set. I expected that each pup would be effected in some way by one switch or the other, not all pups effected by both switches. Can't wait to here my Octafuzz, Tue creamer, OCD, POG, etc, with this baby.

Been playing for 40 years to the day. Own 15 other premium level guitars. This one ranks right up there and will probably be the most comfortable to play. I love it, would gig with it for sure, would replace it if stolen. It's a 12 out of 10 so far. I love it! THank you VOX and designers, you rock.... hard!
