This is a solid topped, nylon string cutaway that sports active Fishman electronics & a satin finish. It has everything you need accept for a built-in tuner. That seems to be the standard these days.

Sound : 8
The sound is precise, pure, and as even as it should be. The satin finish has a lot to do with it. There is no thick, glossy laquer to muffle the resonance. The solid spruce top and solid mahagony back & sides produce enough volume for satisfaction, but it won't floor you like a hand-made classical from Spain.

I play live~electric~Latin~jazzy~flavored~songs with a 5 piece band. For solos & rhythm, this guitar cuts through and gets the audience ready to shake their ass.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Great. Walden sets their stuff up so nice. This is what made me purchase the guitar without a second thought. Play a Walden and you'll buy one. I guarantee!

Reliability/Durability : 8
Because Waldens are inexpensive, they tend to use a fair amount of plastic hardware (such as plastic tuning pegs & nuts). Plastic can crack or get weak over time, but it is inexpensive to replace, so it's no big deal. Other than that it will be nice to you if you are nice to it.

Scratches in the satin finish will be inevitable, so don't purchase a Walden if that is an issue for you. This guitar is perfect for the working & recording musician on a budget. If you are a name-brand-collector-snob that really doesn't play the guitar as it should be played (with vigorous passion & sweat), then the a Walden may not be for you.

Customer Support : 10
I have not dealt with the company directly. I purchased it at Gorilla Guitars (formerly known as Nineveh Guitars.)

Gorilla Guitars is partly owned and operated by Walden dealer: Glen Giles. He's a great musician and an honest salesman, and I take pleasure in doing business with him.

I wrote two songs in two days after I purchased my Walden. It was the ultimate cure for writers block. Simply ask some Walden owners and they will tell you how much they love their guitar.
