This is an original model - no reissue here, tho' year uncertain == old!

A-10 is an 'explorer' style, but kinda funky & a hell of a lot less bulky! This is a maliable gtr - no bad backs here!!

Original finish was a very bright red, but some bright-spark decided to respray it a metallic violet B4 I got it .. nice enough, tho' the tone seems a little bass-woody, which I attribute to 'urethane' finish.

Has passive DiMarzio p/u's installed that have been there for a while, by the look. Absolutely cool shit like wood laminate electronics covers!?! weird!

Action is as good as any quality shred gtr .. think, Gibson SG, Ibanez RG series, w/ a little telecaster thrown in! Beautiful & highly slick!

I haven't played for a few years & cld really get going on it!

Has dual vol/tone pots & 3-way p/u switch. Tuners are a little outta whack, but this *IS* from very early in production cycle, so I am led to believe, & the feel/look is definately early 80's, as I have played a Fender Strat circa '68 & assorted older (& new) gtrs, this is definately one beautiful, well-kept secret!

So far everything is smooth as booty!

Sound : 8
Sound is thick but - I think - has plenty of single coil like transparency. It's a fairly syrupy sound, but I can get some Tele twang & sweetness outta it (amp == fender sidekick reverb65, avoid reverb!)!

This gtr is going to the Robert Fripp school of heavy sustained loopology! Zero noise I don't create.

Having large, 'worker' hands, I find *all* electrics hard to fit my fingers into (was a classical/flamenco player B4), but this is pretty damn forgiving w/out having railroad sleepers for frets ..

Downside is the goddamn painted neck .. i guess there's no accounting for taste, let alone tone .. stripped to the bone this gtr will sing a couple of thou' better!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
As this is nearly a vintage gtr & was dubiously finished, certain qualities have suffered. Still, this is better than most gtrs i ever played with.

Also, some poor workmanship is evident at nut where top (as viewed from above) purfling(?!) was - I guess - reattached after respraying. However, this is an *aftermarket* modification & in no way reflects on the original product!!

Aside from age to tuners (non-locking, no whammy histrionics here, u gotta know how to play) - gears a little stiff - everthing else is great, particularly the frets & bridge/string assembly; brass everything w/ that beautifully aged look.

Controls appear original & the wooden covers are a real bonus.

Reliability/Durability : 10
So long as it isn't dropped on it's head, this gtr is no less a gtr than a Les Paul. Don't know if I'd put it in Paul Reed Smith territory, but I'd rather it than most separate neck gtrs.

Everything abt this gtr is SOLID! Thanks to the 2nd coming of the spraypainter & their generous urethane job, this thing cld take a Ball Peen!

This gtr cld easily be reliably gigged, tho' I'd replace strap buttons as set-necks are too nice to risk dropping - yes, I cld duct tape it, but that is as ugly as stickers for the hell of it!

Gigging shd never be w/out a back-up, so - since these are rare off the ground - I'd have something backing up .. they are cut for relative comfort, so if another showed up, I'd certainly try it on!

I have played - on & off - for 10 years. I have owna few gtrs but never took it serious - except for when I got into flamenco.

Was in a band many moons ago & have soloed classico/flamenco hybrid. Most recently I have been into electronic/techno .. having decried gtr as outta time. This baby showing up came at a time when I was seriously reconsidering gtr for the personal touch, as well as the hands on creation - I am not a follower of others tunes, I like to write my own.

If this gtr were lost/stolen, well .. I'd shoot the bastard that took it & well, I won't be losing it!

The thing I love most abt it is is untypical look & age! A great gtr is at leat a few years old .. played in; a soul with travel. gtrs are like ppl in some ways; principally, they develop w/ age & experiences.

This is good & bad, tho' never tedious to behold!

Never look a gift horse in the mouth is what I'd like to say most. This gtr fell in my lap, as it were. For 3 hrs of my time I got back in touch w/ the natural side of music making. I *LOVE* electronic music, in all its structured beauty, however this gtr & me feel natural.

Different approach, that's all. Tho', I defy u to fall comfortably asleep with a synth or - more typically - sequencers, synths, drum machine, fx & mixing desk on yr gut; gtrs win this hands down!

It's an korean made axis. Maple top mohogany body. 22 frets. With two Washburn 600series Humbuckers. Great for about 535 us dollars( price were cut cause i found a scratch on the neck, but its really not a big deal.even isn't visible) It came with a case ,too. The only thing I got worry about is that I can't get any carry bag. Well ,I guess i can't complain since being on this crapy Island. (dont doubt. I love my country)

Sound : 9
Heavy, warm, thicky sound is what you get. Compare to my friend's JPM. A-10 is much more a kind of metal sound axis. bassy but it screams ,too. Sort of like Les paul but heaveir... Well , its it's weakness, too. you dont have much varity of tone.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Flawless!!!! worthy!!!! You're not gonna get better quality at the price..... The only thing I dislike is its finish on the bake of neck...get kind of sticky when your hand sweats!! HAHA

Reliability/Durability : 10
Like it says....Rock solid.

My guitar is a mid '90s reissue, that came a Washburn floyd-rose licenced trem, Washburn twin humbuckers and a set-neck. It looks killer with a Sycamore flame top (that looks exactly like Maple) and Mahogony back, finished in translusent red. i love the body, which kind of looks like a mini Explorer.

Sound : 8
i've been playing for 5 years and and have owned about 4 electrics over that time. i play straight into an older Marshall 2x12 80 watt Valvestate amp, with a Boss EQ pedal in the effects loop to boost my solos. The stock Washburn Eliminator pick-ups sounded damn good, but i replaced them with Seymour Duncans for added warmth and a phatter sound. i mainly play punk/thrash/hardcore and a little bit of blues and this guitar suits my style well. The only thing is, it looks a little too classy for the falling-down-drunk-punk my band plays...

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The guitar was reasonably set-up when i bought it. The floyd-rose was a bitch to set up after changing the strings and tuning it up to pitch, though. As i said before the book matched top is flawless and the cream binding around the body looks very classy. The frets were well finished and the action was pretty low with out buzzing excesively. The only quelm i have about the guitar is the back of the neck is finished in the same lacquer as the body, and i prefere a natural raw wood feel, on the other hand it looks really cool.

Reliability/Durability : 8
The thing that really sold me on this guitar was how solid it was. This guitar is built to last. The guitar itself is heavy, but i prefere it that way. The strap buttons are wide and solid, and the Grover tuners have 'dependable' writen all over them.

Customer Support : No Opinion
i didn't get any kind of warranty with the guitar, but i doubt i'll ever need it. Anyway, i live in South Africa and i seriously doubt Washburn have a customer service division here.

Overall Rating : 10
i bought this guitar used but it could have passed for brand new. i have no idea why they sold it so cheap. When i bought it, it looked like it had just come from the factory. The only other guitar i compared it to was an Epiphone Les Paul Standard, and the Washburn blew it away. i checked out a '95-'96 Guitar World buyers guide and these guitars sold for US$850 new so i got a killer deal, having only paid the equivelent of US$300!!!! If it were stolen i'd search the world for another one...

I think that my A-10 was one of the originals made in the 80's, Has 22 frets, Has 3 tone knobs and 1 volume knob obviousley, 3 way configuration, The configuration is dual humbucker, My finish is black with a creame outline. THE BODY STYLE ROCKS IT IS LIKE AN EXPLORER ONLY MORE ROUNDED AT THE BOTTOM AN ITS LIKE THE FIN IS JUST CHOPPED OFF ON THE UPPER LEFT HAND SIDE. Neck is very fast with normal frets

Sound : 7
This guitar fits my style, I play mainly hell raising metal but I usually go off on my blues trips, I use it in a Karea amp or a Squire Champ. Its not noisy at all compared to my old strat is relativley quiet. The only dislike I have about its sound is the tone really sucks its due to the low action but its not a work out on the fingers.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
I bought it used so had no idea how it came from the factory, Action is extremly low resulting in a bad tone, wood is good

Reliability/Durability : 9
It takes a beati'n and keeps ticki'n If it were my only guitar I would gig with it but I would rather gig with a Ibanez, I put strap locks on it because the originals were kind of crappy. INCREDIBLY DEPENDABLE

Customer Support : No Opinion
Havent had to deal with them

Overall Rating : 7
I really like the guitar, If it were stolen I probably wouldnt get it agian i would probably get a Ibanez Destroyer or RG770 but is you like low action and kind of crappy tone then hay this is the guitar for you, I wish it had a Floyd Rose, and triple humbucker.
LISTEN TO A.K.A. THEIR A GOOD BAND!!!(They rock like nobodys business)

This guitar is an awesome guitar. I have never seen another washburn A10 in a store before. I have had it for about 1 year now, and it is great. It has 22 frets, the frets seem to be a little soft, but are still good. It is a blue, maple, flame, trans top that is great. One great feature about it that i like the most is that the wood is the same on the bak of the nek, as the the body. The pickups are made by washburn in a h/h position. I love the meaty, metal like sound that you can get from them.

Sound : 10
Sounds great. Fits alternative and metal styles perfectly. I use a crate GXT100 amp w/ flanger, od, and wah. The sound ranges from nasally treble to a thick, bassy, syruppy sound. There is not noise- i think it is due to the humbukers- they r great.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
It was not setup well from the factory, but the music store, Victor Litz, was very helpful and let me take it bak the day after the sale and they set it up 4 me. The finish is great. The tiger stripes are perfectly matched. The guitar feels really good when u play it against your body.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I would definatley gig w/out a bakup- 'cause i kant get another and this guitar is perfect. This guitar feels like it was built to last a long time.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never did. I hope to receive a copy of the warrany info, because i lost it. We will see how that goes.

This guitar was made a long time ago (70's-80's) and then re-issued in the mid 1990's. The re-issued version is what I have. It has 22 frets (i'm think), one volume and two tone controls, two Washburn Humbucker pickups, quilted top finish, and is shaped like an Explorer only a little more radical. You just have to see it. It also features a lock-down, Floyd Rose liscensed tremolo, Grover tuners, and came with a Hard Case. With all of this, I have to give it a 10.

Sound : 10
The guitar sounds great at any setting. The shape and versatile sound really suitas my musical style (everything from Hendrix to Pantera). It is not noisy at all. It can get anything from a thrash metal dark sound to a jazzy sound. I really like it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
It appears to be made pretty well. I haven't found any problems yet. The pickups are adjusted perfectly, and the bridge is great. I couldn't finad anything at all wrong with the guitar.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I haven't had the guitar live, but I'm pretty sure it would make it. The hardware seems to be reliable and the finish doesn't get messed up very easily. I can definitely depend on this guitar.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've never dealt with the company, but it has a lifetime warranty.

Overall Rating : 10
I only have one thing to say, I love it. I've been playing for a while now and have never played a higher quality instrument. I would definitely buy it again.
