I am unsure of the year of this guitar- but I've had it for 3 years now and purchased it used. It had a lot going on that I liked at the time, solid spruce top, good medium neck, and Of course it is a basic unadorned dreadnought, with pickguard, and little else. No electronics, gloss finish, and it came with nothng else. my rating here is based on the price one of these runs new which is about 200 or so it seems. At THAT price this thing is awesome, due to its great sound potential.

Sound : 9
I due a lot of picking even when I'm just playing chords cuz I play lots of bluegrass- or really bluegrass influenced stuff. This guitar is damn near perfect for that, especially now. I got it used for 150, and bought it SOLELY on the basis of how it sounded. 3 years later it has really come alive. Now I do have to say that just for strumming I've never been that big a fan of a dreadnought guitar and prefer to use a folk guitar due to it's brighter character. this gutar is very bright- but is no exception, I find I have to play REALLY carefully to get a sound that thrills me when strumming this guitar- but if I am giviing it a lot of accent and not just pounding away this thing is great. Very full- but so much brighter than I ever thought it'd get, you almost have to hear it to believe it- I only play it thru a mike right now and need to get a pick up for it I guess because i do find i play it more than i thought i would.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
I like a satin finish more than a gloss finish, so this guitar isn't what I would call beautiful- though it is put together well, and the finish is good on it. I need to get the action adjusted now after three years of humidity and getting played with all kinds of different strings and so on and so forth, I'm getting a little fret buzz from about the 10th fret to the 14th fret when playing leads- still sounds great everywhere else though. also it seems the pick guard is sepersting from the body just a little at the bottom edge

Reliability/Durability : 9
My 18 month old son PLAYS this guitar really hard- yanks on strings adjusts the tuners, it lived in no case or even gig bag for a year has traveled ALOT etc. It has gotten dinged a little thru use- all guitars do. And I have used this guitar without a backup plenty, It's just that good. Overall I'd call this guitar a great value. ANd feel fortunate to have stumbled onto it cuz I doubt I would have looked at it new. I've been very pleased with everyaspect of this guitars performance. And my ratings reflect that. Also understand that if this were a 1000 dollar guitar I'd have different expectations of it and would have scored it differently.

I've been playing for 11 years. I own a seagull acoustic and 2 electrics an sg and an ibanez artist. I'd probably try one of these out at a store again if it were stolen but At this price point I feel it'd be dificult to expect a guitar that sounds as good as this one. I would expect a wider variation in sound from these than from higher end acoustics- due to the more inconsistent materials used. Which is to say because this is a well made and longlasting guitar you can go play 20 of them and then basically walk away with a real winner tht no one would expect to have come in at this price point. As I say I bought this used and of the 5-6 guitars I was looking at that day this was far and away the better guitar- in every aspect.

I picked mine up in August of 2001. I didn't really know what I was doing, and I was just headed off to college, and wanted a guitar to learn on...just something to play around on, and have fun with. It's just a basic accoustic 20-fret dreadnought. Came with nothing.

Sound : 9
I started with this guitar, and had some problems getting the right sound out of it at first. This was due to the fact that I was awful at guitar...but during the summer of 2002, after the tone had warmed up a little, since the wood had settled, I took it to a repair shop to have the action lowered. Yes. Lowered. I had been using medium guage strings, and this bowed my neck and fingerboard so much, that they had to re-do a lot of the guitar. After I got the action fixed, she was a dream. Fantastic tone, that I would expect to hear in guitars that cost three times as much.

Everything was aight out of the factory, but the action had me troubled...as i said, once the guy played around with it, it was awesome. HOWEVER. Over the winter of 2001/2002, it got a little dry at my apartment, and i developed a thin but long crack from the bridge to the bottom of the spruce top. It didn't change the tone at all, and at first i was pretty mad i had a crack on my baby, but now i think it adds character, and have learned to like it almost.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar will follow me anywhere. I love it. It lasts, but I have a bad tendency to break my D and G strings. Maybe its justh how i play. The finish is good. I'd play it anywhere.

Guess I should have thought about using the warrently on the action thing, huh? Whoops. Didn't realize it existed.

Overall Rating : 10
I'm looking now at a Taylor guitar, but only for the purpose of playing gigs. My washburn will go wherever I go tho. I've learned on it and tho i know very little about picking a guitar, I'd call this a great beginner or backup. Any day. As for right now, its my main guitar, and I'm always getting compliments on what great sound it produces. I love it. Get one.

This is a Washburn D10S, manufactured for marsmusic.com.

This is a solid spruce top, dreadnought, with 14 frets clear. The sides and back are mahogany. It's a straight acoustic w/o electronics. The neck is also mahogany. The finish is gloss. Tuners are gold colored Grover style. The neck is a medium thickness.

Sound : 9
It has a bright treble with a resonant low end. It's suitable for strumming and fingerstyle; less so for slide (the action is a bit too low). There's no fret buzz. The sound is a bit punchy for my taste -- a function of its newness. I expect the top will mellow with age.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The action is somewhat lower than average for a factory setup and there seems to be plenty of saddle for future adjustment. There are no flaws (that I'm finding). The only improvement I can think of off hand would be the tuners: they're okay, but I prefer a higher ratio (I think these are 12:1).

Reliability/Durability : 9
My son takes this guitar to the park now and then and I see no dings or scratches (yet). It seems pretty solid.

Dunno. I haven't needed them.

Overall Rating : 9
This is a decent player for tossing into the car or going to the park. It sounds good, it's loud, and it plays easy. And it's not bad looking. It's definitely a good value.

First of all let me tell you that I'm new to the guitar so take my review for what is worth coming from a beginner

Dreadnaught body with 20 frets. I wanted a guitar with a solid top and this one is solid spruce with mahogany sides and back and mahogany neck. This guitar is "exclusive" to Mars and is basically the same guitar as the 10S except it has gold plated Schaller tuners.

It's ypur basic acoustic what more can you say?

Sound : 10
Being new and not a good player I had the salesperson play a number of different guitars that I had picked out after strumming them a little myself to get a feel for them.

The D100S has what I would call a good balance between a full and bright sound. There were a number of D100S's there and there were even slight differences in sound between these. After listening to all of them I chose one that was bright yet had a good bass sound also. To me it sounds great!!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The guitar has a very nice gloss finish and the overall workmanship look good. I was more concerned with getting a guitar that I like the sound of that the look of so the wood top has some weird grain in it which actually gives the guitar some character. The only flaw I could point to is the pickguard which seems to be set ever so slightly askew.

From the very little I know about action to me it seemd comparable to the Martins I picked up, low and easy to play. Tuners do a good job of holding in tune and I can go a couple of days before having to re-tune. So far it seems to fit my style, if you can call it that, well.

Reliability/Durability : 10
The guitar seems durable. I have a 4 and 2 year old and they love to bang on it will daddy "plays". My 2 year old is facinated by the guitar and he is really the reason I got interested in playing. We bought him a toy guitar when he was one and he won't put the thing down!

If you would call a gig playing "Twinkle, twinkle little star" for a 2 and 4 years old then yes, I would definately gig with it. :)

Limited lifetime warrenty is nice but I hope I never have to find out how good their service is if you know what I mean...

Overall Rating : 10
I can't think of a better guitar for the beginner that is under $200. For those of you just beginning like me I would highly recommend this guitar. Solid top, sounds good, looks good, what more could you want.

If some one stole it today I would go right out and buy another one. In a few years when I'm a better player I may go out and buy a bette guitar. But, if I had a expensive guitar and was looking for a "beater" this would make the top of my list.
