I purchased the PS2000B in November 2000. The guitar was made in March 1999 at the Washburn Chicago Custom Shop. This guitar comes with the Buzz Feiten tuning system; construction is mahogany with a solid maple top; the neck is a 2 piece mahogany w/ebony fingerboard; scale equals 24 3/4" 14" Radius Nut Width: 1.6875" 22. The fret Inlay is a pearl and abalone blocks.
As for the pickups Washburn and Paul Stanley decided on Duncan Pickups w/ a chrome cover (Bridge Custom Custom, Neck=`59). Washburn is also selling the bridge pickup calling it "Black Diamond Distortion."
Additional features include a star tailpiece, a mirrored pickguard, and an autographed truss rod. The guitar is an upgrade from an old Hamer Explorer design Paul Stanley used during the Unmasked tour (1980).
The guitar features two volume controls and one tone control which you can change by the 3-way selector switch. The tuners are Grover and the frets are Jumbo.
This guitar came with a signed Certificate of Authenticity by Rudy Schlaeher, Ceo., Paul Stanley, and Larry English, Director of Manufacturing. It also came with a hard cover leather case made especially for the PS2000B.

Since I'm a huge Kiss fan I bought this guitar as a collector item, however, I couldn't resist plugging it in. I grew up with Kiss but I also love Van Halen, Metallica, STP, and a lot of softer rock bands - so I wanted a guitar that could handle a wide range of sounds. This guitar plays Kiss, Van Halen, and Metallica very well, however, I have yet to obtain a great clean sound out of the guitar. Washburn says that it's the same guitar Paul Stanley uses in the studio and on stage but Paul is able to get nice clean sounds in both venues that I cannot duplicate.
I run the guitar through a peavey 5150 half stack and during my personal practice sessions I use a peavey bandit. When I push the guitar on the 5150 and I can get a great distrotion sound with little noise. The sound is full and clear. When I play loud I can still play with clarity. The neck pickup is muddy and I have yet to get any sound from the neck pickup that I like. Even with effects the neck pickup lacks any clarity. I may have to find a better neck pickup to solve the problem. If I had to rate this on the bridge pickup it would be rocking but since the neck pickup is muddy I cannot give it the maximum rating.

I've heard a lot of problem with Washburn and how they setup their guitars. Well, sure enough the setup was bad. I had the guitar tech, at the store I bought the guitar, try to fix the problem four times to no avail. Intonation was off and the action was either too low or too high. I ended up taking it to my trusted guitar tech to fix it right. Once I got it back the guitar palyed itself, smooth, and fun to play. I also had to raise the pickups to my specifications. The construction was excellent as I did not see any imperfections with the construction. The finish was a different story. Since this was the top of the line of the PS series guitars you would think the finish would be perfect - NOT! I found several paint runs that went into the white binding. When I was shopping for this guitar all of the PS2000B's that I looked at had the black paint runs on the white binding.

This guitar has made its way into my gigging rotation. I now use this guitar as my main axe for all the harder sounding songs that I play. I've played with it for a year now and have very little wear on it. The guitar still looks new. I depend on this guitar since I open up with it every time I gig. I would never go to a gig without a backup but if I had to I would feel comfortable doing so.

This is the worst customer support system ever. Where has all the great customer service companies gone?? I have e-mailed Washburn seven times and never got a response back. I didn't bother calling them. Find a trusting guitar tech and have them make any adjustments. If you need warranty work use your best judgement when using Washburn.

I've been playing for 17 years and own two Les Paul's, a Standard and a Studio. I also have a Peavey Wolf Gang and an Oviation Celebrity Series acoustic guitar. As for my amps I have a 5150 half stack and a peavey bandit. My effects include a Yahmaha 550 effects processor and a Dunlop Cry Baby. If this guitar was stolen I would replace it. I love the sound of the bridge pickup and the way the neck plays itself. Some people say that getting a lead out of the guitar was hard but I haven't had any problems ripping out a classic Ace or Bruce solo.
The only thing I dislike about the guitar is the sound of the neck pickup - maybe it's just personal taste? My favorite feature is the warm sustaining sound from the bridge pickup and the looks that let everyone know that this guitar is different. I did compare this guitar to other PS series guitars and neither the PS500 or the PS100 compare to this guitar. I'm a big fan of a mahogany body with a maple top which led me to the PS2000 instead of the PS100 or the PS500. I would love to get the PS2000FML with that AAA maple top and a hint of a sunburst oh man!
If you're looking for a guitar that can rock - this is it. I'm a huge Les Paul fan but this guitar has lived up to the standard that I place on guitars. I would recommend this guitar to anyone.

This guitar is just great; I rate it an A. I got it 2 weeks ago and I am really impressed. It goes for $1,830.00 and it's well worth it . It has the same weight as a Les Paul, and is solid mahogony with an ebony fret-board. I got it in black, but it comes in a variety of colors. The thing I love most about it is the neck; from top to bottom the words "play me" kept ringin in my head,( I couldn't put it down !) Let's not forget the pick-ups...awesome; Seymor Duncans and they sound great. Very versital; you can get the sound of early Beatles to modern day KISS in a flash !

This guitar sounds great coming out of my Marshall 100 watt head and bottom...you can play any style out of it, but it sounds better for straight rock music,( good old fashiond R'N'R ). For blues it just makes it, whereas the Gibson Les Paul would rule in that category.

Whoa, that is the best part; I love the fact that I have easy access to the 22nd fret and it feels comfortable. That's the draw back of the Les Pauls...that heel, but Les Pauls will always be my favorite axes,( sentimental ). The Washburn is built to play...NO FLAWS ... perfecto !

Highly dependable...no, I don't need a backup...but I kill my strings so that would be the reason for having one just in case ! The hardware is great...it's built like a tank. And the shape...the shape...is wild ! It's one of a kind and really catches your eye . The finish is as good as it can be ; almost like a mirror .

I've been playing for 25 years...since I was 12. I own 3 Les Pauls, 2 Heartfield electrics,( remember them?)and a Fender Acoustic. I have a Marshall 100 watter, a 60 watt Ampeg,( VT 20 )and a Fender practice amp,( about 25 watts that kicks so I gig with it ! ) I love my Les Paul Standards, but this new Washburn is just as nice...I love it too. One of my Pauls is an Ace Frehley Epiphone...I paid $ 800.00 for it and it's cool ; 3 Dimarzio SD's...got it yesterday !
