I just recieved my Wayne Guitars lap steel and it THROWS DOWN!

The guitar starts off with Sperzel locking tuners, which is a great idea for a steel because accurate tuning with locking is superb when you're talking about the various open tunings you encounter, and making changes on stage, the better the tuner, the better off you are!

Normally on steel guitars and lap steels, over time, the fret markers which are usually silkscreened on the fretboard will wear off. Not the case here...the fretboard is a plexi sheet with the frets printed underneath! Nothing to wear off!

The strings are suspended over the fretboard by a wonderfully custom-machined billet aircraft aluminum 1 piece bridge and nut they both resonate equally being the same material, and the strings are strung through the body for maximum sustain. The guitar is fitted with a 1 ply pickguard, keeping the scratches from your thumb and fingerpicks from digging into the mahogany.

The electronics are straightforward. It's got a rocking Seymour Duncan p90 pickup in the bridge position, which sounds as smooth as you want it to be or as nasty as you want it to be. I play it through a Roland JC120 for smooth silvery country steel or through a Budda Twinmaster for that rippin' blues slide. Either way, it sounds KILLER. The single volume control with silver top knob and side mounted 1/4" jack add the allure of simplicity.

The guitar also comes with the old school Wayne Guitars wooden cases...just like back in the 70's!

If you're looking for a ROCKIN' lap steel at ANY price, this is the one. You can see more at www.wayneguitars.com

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
The one piece body is superbly done in oiled mahogany, and vs. the Chandler lap steels, it's shaped like a guitar. There's no useless shaping or materials. It's straight ahead.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
1 piece construction. Doesn't get more solid than this!
