This baby is loud, mostly due to the internal baffle design that Wechter puts in, a Scheerhorn innovation. I bought this over ebay and the seller promised me this baby would be loud and boy is it ever.
Very full sound from bass to treble, the strings supplied are the Scheerhorn cryo strings, with a heavier 1st and 2nd then usual. But the combination works on this model.

Setup was perfect, the spider and cone were fine on arrival, the seller had slacked the strings and all was well. I think this is the first time that I've received a resonator via shipping where there wasn't some kind of set-up problem with the spider/cone.
The wood, finish and color is perfect.
The string action is a little on the high side, so can't use the usual Shubb resonator capo, have to use a "suspender" kind of capo, like Beard or Flux.

Since receiving the guitar, I've played it almost daily for 1 or 2 hours and it sounds great. I'm sure it will hold up to gigging. Hardware is good and well plated. Finish is also very good. I suspect the finish is plastic/urethane but it's hard to tell.
Strap buttons are solid.
I'd use it on a gig without a backup, it is that reliable.

I've sent a couple emails to the company with questions about the guitar and they've always responded promptly. I get a sense that Abe Wechter is definitely hands-on with all of his products.

I've played for 35 years and own tons of gear. Even though this guitar is China-made and then adjusted in the U.S. shop, it is one of the best sounding resonators I've ever played or owned. I'd stack this one up against guitars that sell for 5 or 10x more then this one.
If stolen, I'd replace ASAP.
Wish I'd had a pickup installed at Wechter but it sounds good miked as well.

I've a 6510R that I purchased on eBay for $650, brand new, picked a few times in the store. This guitar is LOUD. Tobacco Brown. Mahogany laminate throughout. I've always been shy of buying laminate top guitars, but not anymore. Came with a gig bag.

Sound is exactly what I wanted and expected. It's a dobro, what do you expect? Very full and bright and LOUD.

Action is high, no frets - cuz it's a DOBRO, Hello!

I've been playing this guitar constantly since I got it, it's still breaking in so it tends to slip a little out of tune after playing. But I've been playing it HARD and it seems to stand up to it well. Did I mention it's LOUD.

Probably won't ever need it because I do my own repairs, but I've heard nothing but good things about Wechter.

I've played for 36 years. This is the second resonator I've bought and I'm happy. I own too many guitars to count. I'd buy another one of these, maybe the higher end but this one is great.

Just recieved delivery of the new Scheerhorn/Wechter import dobro. It's body was made in China, assembled and set up by Wechter in Michigan. This is Tim Scheerhorns design and has his obvious blessing. The only name on the head piece is SCHEERHORN. TOO COOL!!!
It is a Mahogany laminate with the Tobbaco finish. Absolutely gorgeous. The fit and finish are first rate. The tuners are smooth and have a much more solid feel to them compared to my Regal RD-45. It came with a semi-solid case. I read a review that stated the case was pretty cheap. Maybe so, I think it's just fine, but then I've never had a really nice one. All I know is that this guitar looks awesome.

I have a Regal RD-45 that I upgraded with a Quarterman cone. I have gotten numerous comments on how good it sounds, especially the bass.
Right out of the box (case?) this Scheerhorn is a bit louder and has WAY more sustain. The tone is brighter and this is with new EJ42 strings on the Regal. This Regal was my first dobro and has served me well, but there is simply no comparson on quality. Sure the Scheerhorn is 300 bucks more, but man, what a difference.

It has a much higher action than the Regal. The string alignment is really good. The Regal has always been off due to the either the tailpiece or center hole being off of center. As stated earlier the fit and finish are really nice.

Since I just got it, hard to say, but then I don't have a problem with tearing a dobro apart and fixing what ails it. This one is so pretty though, that I will be a bit more careful with the screw driver. lol

If this dobro were lost I might try out a Beard/Goldtone just for fun, but otherwise, yea I'm on the horn ordering one just like it
