It has 24 jumbo frets, with solid agathis body with a 1 volume and a tone knob.
I assume the pickups are cheap, but they do the job alright...
It's got a bolt on neck with quite nice inlay at 1,3,5,7,9,12,15,17,19,21,24 frets.
Mine has a gloss black finish which is quite nice and it has a stop tailpiece.
I got an awful lead with it that broke in about a week and 3 plectrums which were useful.

I play mostly heavy metal, in fact practically all heavy metal with my boss gt-6 I have a bunch of presets so the sound should be good, the problem is...it just isn't.
I find that its got a horrible high end and a completely indistinct low end that completely ruins the guitar.
Pinch harmonics are hardly playable and when you get them they have a horrible tinny quality like the high end in general.
A 4 in this category is generous.

The action of this guitar when I got it was quite good and it was nice to sit down and play it acoustically, which I still often do. The problem for me, was when I got to stand up next to my amp. Firstly the guitar is severely neck heavy, making it awkward to play and secondly the sound is awful as stated above.
There are some flaws that I will go into in the reliability part of this review.

This guitar does not withstand live playing, after taking it to a handful of practices and one live performance one pickup was completely shot and another was failing. This was partially to to faulty wiring on the latter pickup, but on the broken pickup, it was sheer lack of quality pickups.
The finish however is good and I think that it would hold up in a live environment, though it's about the only thing that will!

I have been playng guitar for 5 years, and I've not come across a less reliable guitar, I know it was cheap but that doesn't mean that it should be allowed to be built in such a careless way.
I would never recommend this guitar to anyone.

2005 Model I presume, made in Britain. 24 medium sized frets. Simple controls are one volume and 3 way toggle switch which operate two unbranded ceramic white coloured humbuckers. Solid Agathis hardwood body with a bolt on maple neck. This version as the gothic name suggests it finished in quality glossy black paint and its body shape is like a BC Rich Mockingbird (a crossed Gibby Explorer and SG hibrid) which is very eye catching- provided youre not wearing black!
This model has a standard tuneomatic bridge and stop tailpiece and the tuners are a diecast Korean-spec chrome plated type.
The neck was a really nice surprise it is really chunky- like a Fender Strat feel with a nice rounded back and a very fast 24 fret rosewood fretboard which is bound and has some nicely designed pearloid inlays- these only go up to the 19th fret though.
Comes with an Allen wrench and guitar lead.

This guitar is very heavy metal. I play through a Marshall Valvestate 80w combo with Boss SD-1 Overdrive in front for extra sustain and Ibanez FL-9 Flanger>Marshall ED-1 Compressor>Marshall SV-1 Chorus>Marshall VT-1 Vibratrem>MXR EVH Phase 90>Boss GE-7 EQ in the effects loop.
Playing it clean you can get a very Les Paulesque bluesy sound quite easily especially in middle position.
With distortion the humbuckers put out high gained edgy sounds good for heavy metal and shredding. Mostly noticable when playing in the bridge pickup, the guitar has its own unique tone, must be a combination of the pickup response and the large hardwood body. The lovely new selector switch has absolutely no crackle and is a pleasure to use.

The Guitar arrived already set up and the strings were new. The action is medium/low just how I like it with some fret buzz on certain strings. This could be because the frets are brand new and seemed to reduce as I played- probably from wearing in the frets.
All of the harware IS perfect and well aligned and the tuners although cheap are very smoothe to operate. The finish is lovely and glossy but ISNT perfect although you have to really look for these inperfections. Budget quality tuneomatic bridge which does exactly what it should and seems to be intonated well so I really cant complain. I'll give this a 7 because of cheap hardware but you do get more than what you pay for from this manufacturer.

The bolt-on construction of this guitar is very sturdy and the guitar is reassuringly heavy so I would take it to a gig-if I played a gig!
All the hardware is so well fitted and would take a beating without a doubt.
The Paint job is nice and thick and good quality and I dont have any doubts of its longevity.

John Wesley www.wesleyguitars.co.uk although he probably sells hundreds of guitars more than anyone else was very attentive to answering emails and was happy to tell me which wood type the body was and assisted me to be confident it would be a secure transcation which made the buying experience very easy. Very good personal service from this bigtime seller.

Ive been playing for 12 years and play top of the range guitars such as Washburn and Jackson all USA models.
Once upon a time you wouldnt touch cheap brand guitars unless you were starting off but John Wesley makes them unbelievably.
The one thing I love about this model is the chunky radius neck and the cool body shape. One thing that takes getting used to is the edge of the guitar pokes you when youre sitting down with it at first (if you place it flat against you it doesnt happen).
The instrument feels evenly balanced when you place it on your lap. Im gonna change the pickups to Seymour Duncan & Bill Lawrence and upgrade the the bridge to Gotoh but will not rush into this because the guitar has a unique sound which Im enjoying at the moment!
If this got stolen Id buy another straight away. If theres one thing I wish it had, Id say a set neck and a smaller headstock.

This is a very metal looking guitar and looks great! It has 24 frets, two humbuckers, Tune-o-matic ith stop tailpiece, bound neck, Perloid Inlays and is finished off in a very nice black colour
I also recieved a free lead with this guitar.

Well, I only bought this guitar as another guitar just to "mess around on", but since playing have fallen in love with it.
The two humbuckers give plenty of dirt and sound very nice distorted, and are not too bad when clean. But as you can expect, for the price, the humbuckers are really not that great, compared to my Dimarzio equiped les paul, but then again you have to remember the price and a pickup change is not out of the question.

I have been playing for two years. I curently own a Epiphone Les Paul special with a Dimarzio Tone Zone at the bridge, a Peavey Studio Pro 112 amp, an old acoustic and a Behringer V-amp 2.
I chose to buy this paticualar guitar because of the price, and you get alot of guitar for your money!!!

(I'm mainly writing this review so as other people can get an idea about the quality of Wesley guitars in general. This model seems to have been discontinued). (Adjectives such as 'good' should be followed with 'for a cheap guitar!').
Double humbucker, with one tone, one volume, and one 3 way selector (bridge pickup, neck pickup, both). 24 frets. Gold plated hardware.
The humbuckers are really quite nice pickups, they do not buzz when you plug the guitar in like other cheap pickups, and they sound pretty good. The build quality is solid, if not fancy, although I have a little problem with the cable jack looseing, which I will see to with an extra locking nut or something. But overall it is very good.

As I said, the pickups are actually quite nice. The electronics is your basic double humbucker setup, but simplicity is often the best and it does sound great.

I found it hard to get a very low action, at the moment I have it on a medium action which is fine for me because I tend to really bash the strings sometimes!

It's pretty solidly built, and would survive a live set quite easily.

For a first guitar, it is a lot better than other more well known brands at the same price. Because it is not a well known brand, they have to put a lot more quality into them in order to sell them at the same price as more well known brands. So the guitar is great for the money.
