1978 Westbury Performer. Dimarzio type pups, 1 volume 1 tone and a 3 way toggle. Very basic. the toggles in a weird place(right behind the bridge. Great finish and some odd scallop around the body.

Sound : 10
Killer sustain. Stock pups are Ok. No feed back.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I love playing this guitar, it's sad because I'll probably end up trading it again for another shred guitar. It's a blonde finish. Beautiful!!!!

Reliability/Durability : 10
for a guitar as old as this it's in near mint condition, with the exception of the tuners.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Vox has some stuff on their site, I found an old ad for the same exact axe on Ebay.

Overall Rating : 10
I'm old as ***, been playing for 25 years. I own a crapload of guitars and basses, mostly Ibanez, Jackson, and the like.

A late 1970s (probably 1977ish) set neck SG type guitar but having an original enough design to easily distinguish this from any Gibson. Two DiMarzio super distortion humbuckers that wail. One volume and one tone, a feature I do not like. I would prefer two of each like the later Westbury Standard, but for what I paid I can't complain. It has a wrap around bridge/tail piece like some of the early SGs and Les Paul Juniors, which gives it wicked sustain. Unmarked Shaller tuners that keep it in tune fairly well (the G slips sometimes). Overall a very good quality instrument. It feels solid.

This is the sustain king! The vintage DiMarzio's scream and this thing sounds just amazing. I play mainly blues oriented music (in fact a lot of straight Chicago electric blues) through a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe and this guitar sounds as good or better than any SG or Les Paul Junior I've ever heard. Not quite as fat a true Les Paul, but then again my aging back is thankful since it is not as heavy. The neck pick up is warm and rich and the bridge pick up just rips. I can cut through just about anything with this guitar. What can I say, for the money this has got to be one of the truely great values out there, if you can find one. Everyone I play with is amazed by the sound quality and tone and asks what this thing is. The only issue is sometimes with extra gain added the lows can get a little muddy. Sicne I mostly just play clean this never really is a problem.

When I bought this (off ebay) it needed a new nut, so I had a graphite nut put in and had it set up professionally (neck adjusted, etc). The action is wicked fast and smooth and the neck on the narrow side for my small hands. There are some finish issues that 25 years of what looks like much use and love will show, but not that detract or impact use.

Reliability/Durability : 8
This guitar has been played A LOT over the last 25 or so years and it is a survivor! When these were made that firm that produced them in Japan made some great quality instruments and this was built to last.

Customer Support : No Opinion
This firm has been out of business since liek 1982 so who cares.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing on and off for about 28 years. I have played many different guitars and have always been sort of partial to Gibson for that fat humbucking tone. This Westbury is about the best value out there, but quantities are very limited so if you see one, grab it. The reputation is growing (belatedly) so demand is starting build. If it were lost or stolen I would be heartbroken and would look far and wide to replace it. I would also be willing to spend considerably more than my lucky price of $150 off ebay.

Not positive of what year it was made but this one was actualy made before univox split. It is still, however, a westbury. The body is simular to a melodymaker, but it has thow humbuckers stock dimarzios, bridge PAF neck super distortion. The performer has only two knobs, master volume, master tone and one three-way switch. It also has an odd wrap around tailpice that provides great sustain. It would be nice to have a four knob setup.

Sound : 9
Those dimarzios sound great. Perfect for blues to southern rock to AC/DC or even megadeath, lacking a little beef for some of the modern "metal"

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Great action. this thing plays better than any gibson or fender ive ever played.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
Very well built. no problems so far.
