Made in 1983 in Japan for St. Louis Music Company
22 frets, solid body made of ? Heavy Wood!
Three controls. Bridge Vol, Neck Vol, Tone - all are push/pull pots -
one turns on the center pickup, one splits the two humbuckers, and the third -phase reverses the bridge p/u
Pickups H/S/H make unknown passive electronics
Three way switch on upper horn a-la Less Paul.
I added Sperzel Tuners, Graphite Nut
Bridge is floating tremelo thru-body style
Neck is thin, smooth, and verrry fast.
Hard shell case.

Sound : 10
Very diverse style. Pop, Blues, Folkrock, some metal
Used with Korg A-3 pre-amp to FET stereo amp & custom speakers.
Very quiet, a little noisier when coils are split.
You can get a huge variety of sounds. I'd compare it to a Strat (I prefer it to the Strat) any day. Not quite as fat as a LP, but close.
For me this one does it all. My hands have never felt a better neck

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I bought the Electra used, damaged. Replaced the 3-way switch. It had been dropped on the plug inserted into the vertical jack. This broke out the wood around the jack. I installed a black strat jack-cup - this covered almost all the damage and looks really cool! The guitar is red with black neck and all hardware is black. I love the look. I replaced the Shaller type tuners with locking Sperzels.

I bought it's sister, the Phoenix, new in 1983. It is dark gray-black metalflake and is configured like a LP H/H with split coils, and phase reverse push-pull pots. I added my preferred Sperzel Tuners and graphite nut to make the tremelo more useable. When I found the Electra cheap, I fixed it up because I thought I would set it up for slide. I just fell in love with the Electra's looks. Red with black hardware. Cool! The Phoenix went under the bed where it has sat for the past 19 years (in mint condition with OHSC).

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar is a rock. Totally reliable. The finish is great. This is a little-known jewel.

Customer Support : 1
They sent me new knobs that were missing when I bought it and the tremelo arm. They were great. They are now gone. So - you're on you're own. There are readily available parts to replace anything on it though.

Overall Rating : 10
I own a Rick 12, the two Westones, a Martin D-18, Taylor 812, an Alvarez-Yari Classical, and a Korg 01W-FD. I'm just playing for fun now. So I'm selling off everything except the D-18 and the Electra - I just can't part with it.

I assume it was made in japan, year unknown...Ser.#103197.
22 Fret, solid top.
Controls are Vol, tone, active tone/volume?...3 micro switches, one for active system...other two seem to be for tone and a 3 way selector.

Dual Humbucker, unknown maker, active circut is mounted on the electronics cover plate.

Both the neck and body seem to be maple....(i have the racing stripe scheme) Wood grain matches all around.
Body is a strat-esque style bridge is strat style.
Tuners are sealed schaller style but have the electra logo on them
Neck is thin with a standard frets.

Sound : 9
I play mostly Irish "Rock-N-Reel" but also blues(a-la David Gilmore) and some surf-style...the broad range of tone i have achieved with this guitar is amazing, suits all my playing styles, Ballsy as a gibson...clear as a strat.

My Gear consists of a digi-tech RP-12 effects board, played through a pair of miked 38w fender practice amps...have a home studio and occasionaly run it through a home-built modular analogue synth.

The guitar is amazingly quiet...i've had strats that hummed like crazy, This one is quiet as hell on all settings.

As stated before i get a diverse range of tone with this guitar, full and rich...but bright and clean.

Oddly enough i lke almost everything about this guitar...i have replaced the jack, knobs, and put in a brass nut...might dig into the elecronics soon.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
The action is low, i assume it was a factory setup...i am happy with it.

Had to adjust the pickups myself....needed tweaking.

Top is almost flawlessly bookmatched
The only flaws where a few usual pre-owned dings, and a bit of buzz on the high-e....fret file cured this.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar Has been from Arkansas to Boston to Texas, Ireland on two occasions, and finaly to Ohio...Played live in all locations...very durable.
Finish has held nicely, no new damage.
Replaced buttons with Schecter strap locks.

I have depended on this guitar for five years now, it hase been solid and reliable, i regularly play with out a backup guitar with no worries what-so-ever.

Customer Support : 1
no support...Electa is out of buisiness.

Have not needed major repairs.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for about 20 years, i have a midi setup on my pc, and own a few vintage analogue synthisizers...as well as an ever expanding homebuilt modular synthisizer, I also play the Uilleann Bagpipes(main Inst.) as well as the low whistle and Irish keyless flute.
I have played electras in the past and was not satisfiedwith them...this seems to be a one in a million guitar, bought it mainly for the price....but when i got it home it proved itself a fine guitar.
If it were stolen i'd probably not find another one as well made...probably go back to a Strat.

Probably made in 84', 85'. 22 frets,3 pull pots, h/s/h, I pulled out the brg. hum and put in a Dmarzio Tone Zone. I would swear the neck is graphite or something weird-----very fast. Fire red color, bent in tips. Non locking tuners. Bought with hard case.

Sound : 10
Effectively using all the pot pulls and switch allows for great range in tone, from deep crunchy chords, to ear splitting solos.Played through a Crate G50-C, and RP 1 Digitech. Other then the re-wire nightmare, excellent sound range.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Setup was adjusted by dealer before pickup, but the action was beautiful, the paint to this day is mint, and the frets have only needed filing once. The pickup cavity had to be enlarging for the DMarzio.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I'm the original owner, and other then the wiring, this is as rugged as they get. I've played it for 16 yrs, but it has been my backup to a Peavey Vandenberg for the last 4 yrs. Dependable, but dont use the tremelo too much or she won't stay in tune.

Customer Support : 2

Overall Rating : 10
The looks sucked me in back in the hair metal days, but I got lucky with a great guitar for the dollar, any ORIGINAL owner who plays fast would have to agree.I would play this over a Jackson, Ibanez, Fender, or Washburn any day.

I bought this guitar 15 years ago I assume it was several years old at the time. It has a rosewood fretboard, 22 fret scale, solid maple body, SG horns that or offset, locking tuning keys, neck and bridge hummers, two volume controls, two push pull pots, a three position selector.

Sound : 7
I play rock, blues, and country. The multiple tone settings gives me some range but I still use effects. The 3-way is not noisy but the pickups are not the top of the line and it shows at higher volumes.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
Only a few flaws. The saddles are a little cramped making it impossible to get them aligned perfectly. the finish, however is equivelent to much pricier guitars. The real reason I'm still playing it is that it has a great feel in my hands.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I have gigged with mine off and on for years but I would never gig without a backup no matter what guitar I owned. The hardware, though not top of the line has been reliable. I feel I can depend on it. Also the most important aspect of this guitar is that it stays in tune longer than any guitar I've ever played. I play 10-46 Ernie Balls and use a 1.00 mm Clayton picks and I have been known to bend a string or two.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I don't know of any... If there is such a monster I would really like to know how to contact them for future reference.

Overall Rating : 8
I have been playing for 17 years. I have a Lotus acoustic with pickups, a Palmer Strat, and Fender Telecaster. For effects I use a DigiTech Rp2000. I play through one of two amps depending on the size of the room. (Small rooms Danelectro Nifty-50, Larger rooms Marshall AVT100 combo).

I found this guitar online thru a pawn shop back east. Read reviews about how well made Westones were so for the price, decided to buy one. Not bad, SG style horns, black, 1 humbucker only. Standard strat bridge. Black chrome. 1 vol. and 1 tone. A split coil switch here, a nice feature. Sounds pretty good when set to single coil mode. The neck feels thin for fast action and playing. Thin frets, so shredding could be achieved. The guitar is basic, but in this case, feels and plays well. However, buying used has setbacks. There are 2 chips in the paint/body. So I deduct for that...Pegs are of grover quality. Good.

Sound : 7
I just practice anymore. Am looking for some kind of style. Use a fender super reverb. Not noisy. Split coil feature is handy. Very good...the humbucker is stock, and not that great. Could be swapped, and should. So...

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
When I received it thru the mail, the action was pretty low. I changed strings to a set up of 10-38. The bridge was fine, as were the saddles.

Reliability/Durability : 7
Might be ok to play live. Seems to be a solid guitar, reliable. Hardware has lasted this long, finish other than those chips is ok. Strap buttons are solid. Don't gig without a backup!

Good, basic SG setup with strat bridge... just like it's basicness. Plain and simple. The reason I chose it. Won't sweat it if it were damaged/ stolen. That's it...

I got this guitar as a birthday present about 2 yrs ago. It`s really hard to find out info about this company, but from what I hear they were a japanese company that made these things in the 80`s (Reb Beach from Winger had a sig. model). The guitar has SG style 'devil horns' but they`re not level with each other, they`re like strat things. (did that make sense? :) ) the pickups are H/S/H, and I guess they`re made by Westone. the thing has a volume and two tone push-pull pots, so the thing has some tonal options. I have absolutely no idea what kind of wood this is, but it`s HEAVY! I have an Epiphone explorer and this thing is way heavier. I really don`t know about the other hardware, like the tuners or the Pickup models. sorry.

Sound : 8
I play this through a Boss Metal Zone and a Crate G120-C. It works pretty well for my Sabbath-on-Motorhead brand of thrash, which is pretty suprising, considering it`s a cheap foreign thingie. There`s some tonal variety with the Push-Pull pots n` all. It`s pretty warm and bassy, which isn`t suprising considering how Friggin heavy it is.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
Action`s pretty low. Not much in the way of glaring flaws for this Price range.

Reliability/Durability : 8
The thing really shines here- I don`t know how many times I`ve beten out For Whom The Bell Tolls or Paranoid on this thing, but it keeps going. Crazy but true.

Customer Support : 1
The company`s dead, so you`re on your own. But I haven`t had any really bad problems.

Overall Rating : 7
Crazy thing won`t die. It ain`t the Hetfield V, but in this range, what do you expect? The guitar has served me well, and it served others well before me, and if somebody stole it, I`d track him down and ask him nicely to give it back. :)
