I have this great looking and sounding Monarch made in the 1980s by the Motsumoku Co. of Japan. Mine is a yellow/black striped monster Wedge guitar. It has the modulus graphite neck with 22 medium frets and two humbuckers and a center single coil. The humbuckers have each a coil split switch via tone knobs(push/pull) and the volume knob is a phase shifter(push/pull knob). It has a durable 3 way switch and the body is a heavy solid wood. The best whammy in the world is the Kahler mounted here with a locknut and the action is at its lowest without buzzing.I have the original Westone Monarch case. I can do Hendrix type dives on this jewel, easily.

I wouldn't trade this axe for anything. The Japanese are superior in making cars, electronics, AND guitars! The Monarch has many tones and sounds with its circuitry and pickups(blade & regular humbuckers)and you can go from tinny surf riffs to heavy bassy laden /distorted gothic chording. It replaces three guitars at once,as far as I'm concerned. Fender sucks!Fender hasn't advanced in 4 decades as far as I'm concerned.(Freedom of speech here folks.)I use it with a Peavey Concert 100 watt amp head through my 1974 Sunn Lead bottom with 3 12 inch Celestions. Can't beat that!!!I also use a Chorus and Wah-Wah pedal. And the circuit and controls are still whisper quiet!Only draw back with a Wedge guitar is you can't play it sitting..who cares???

Sorry, this guitar has NO flaws, or problems for me and I've played it for 1 year now with 3 sets of strings replaced. It is a very well produced and taken care of guitar.

Heck, I would play this on Mars without a backup (but I always bring another couple axes to show off my collection).Let's see you all do that with a Fender log. HaHa.

We have 60 guitars and basses here and all 1980s models. The Westones seem to be one of the few guitars that don't arrive with pot problems(scratchy). I only wish that English Co. that bought the Westone name would quit putting out crappy guitars and quit calling them Westones.I compare this baby to my Jackson Warrior and if I lost(forget it) my Monarch..I'd find a twin eventually. It has all I will ever need for rock and blues.

its an 80's guitar all the way. 22 jubo frets, hsh configuration wich coil splitters on the humbukers, it looks like a flying v but with a notch cut out of the top the coolest looking guitar ive ever seen. it has a vibrato bridge and a loking nut, but it stays in tune butter w/o the nut on! its insane I can bury the bar and stays in pretty good tune. it was red but some idiot repaited it, it looks better but the crappy paint is comming off. Master volume controll and 2 tone knobs 3 way pick up selector. I love it!

Its got a really fat sound untill you turn on the splitter then it sounds terrible, :( , it doesnt have have alot of gain but that can work to your advantage(you dont always need 100% distortion all the time anyway. Its my best sounding guitar!
