A basic guitar when standard, I have modified mine with a Shift 2001 trem. The stock Humbucker is moved to the neck position and a EMG 81 in the bridge position. in the middle I have a single coil ARIA pickup. This setup gives me most sounds I need from a single guitar. I have retained the stock inbuilt overdrive, which is really good. I have also built in another, different sounding distortion module into the body. The nesk is slim, and with good proportions everywhere. The body is quite heavy, but gives a great tone!

In stock, it was a really good sounding guitar, with my modifications, it is absolutely great! All sounds from thin nasal Strat to Fat Gibson... Excellent sustain, The only sound I lack is the one from my Gibson Junior! With the inbuilt overdrive, all I need is a wah-pedal.

Good, if not absolutely perfect. Only minor adjustments to suit my way of playing had to be done. However, see my mods under "features". I made a refret almost immediately, since I like higher frets than standard. But that is only a personal preference.

I??ve used it for more than 20 years without any breakdown except from strings... That??s a really good rating! Ok-ok, a couple of electric mishaps have happened before it was sorted out, but this was my own fault, not Westones!

My favourite electric guitar still after more than 20 years.
It has a tendency to drop the head if I do not hold on to the neck.
I have been looking for another Paduak 1 for years, but have not found one yet. Yes, it is that great that I want one more! The next time I??m going to correct the design mistakes I made when I modified my present P1.

year/country: 1982/Japan
fret/body type: 22 fret/solid japanese ash
pcikup: DiMarzio dual-humbucker (non-stock)
electronics: active pre-amplifier
body/neck: Japanese Ash (Puduak) and maple neck
I have been playing this guitar since 1982 when I purchased it. It was my first guitar, but not my last. I've owned Strats (American and Japanese), a limited editon 1979 Guild, and a BC Rich Mockingbird. The Westone is still my favorite with the Guild holding a close second. Great quiality instrument. Doesn't mar everytime you set it down. Wished they made more like this!
As far as accessories go, I use Crate amplifiers and gold-cables. I do all my own maintenance and customizing (Setting intonation) and such, e.g. I am left-handed but the guitar is made for right-handed individuals.

As mentioned, I installed DiMarzio dual-humbucker, with the guitar, gives a rich toanl, solid notes and chords. Nothing wimpy about this sound. The guitar has a built-in preamp to buzz your distortion just that muxh more.

I bought it new. The guitar is sitting next to me, all my other guitars are stored in the basement. Does that tell you enough?

The guitar is great, as I'm sure you've already heard from other owners. It was a blessing I found this guitar and purchased it when I did (I am very happy with it).
If it were stolen, I'd probably start cleaning my gun first, just a thought?
The solid body design is flawless and delivers a solid, beefy tone.
Yes, I've compared it to my other guitars. As mentioned, other guitars are packed away downstairs from a recent move. The Westone stay next to me always, for when inspiration hits!

I got this guitar from my dad and I dont know much about it exept that it was made in 1982 in Japan. It's your standard size guitar about the size of a telecaster the neck is a comfortable fit it's about a medium size neck This guitar has german Musik Schaler tuners, I dont know if they came on the guitar or if they were installed. I did have to install new pickups on the guitar because the original's were horrible.

I play ska-punk type music (Blink 182, Lit, Offspring, Greenday) and I use a CRATE amp with tons-o-distortion. It sounds great and has awesome harmonics. The cool thing about this guitar is that you can play any type of style or genre with it. It will give you a great bass sound and a very bright lead sound. One problem is feedback it lives on it, so if your jamming at a party don't get to close to the amp you might lose your hearing. As far as metal, punk, and rock go this is a great guitar.

This is the only guitar I own and I have used it at a couple shows it is a very immpresive guitar and my friends admire it with great passion. The finish is beautifull and extremely durable. I have banged around stage and actually ripped cables out of the jacks on accident and there isn't a single scuff, scratch, or dent on the entire guitar. I did have to drill another hole for the strap buttons but thats expected with my type of playing. I have only one guitar this one and so far it is dependable.

I've been playing for three years and just started performing at shows. If this guitar were stolen or lost(which won't happen) I would cry and go into a state of deppresion and would never veiw guitars the same way again. I do wish this guitar came with a whammy bar but Oh whell.

Westone made the best Japanese guitars (I had a red one name escapes me - neck went through the body - a cross between a SG and a strat; active sound; heavy; fast; solid case and I mis it dearly - sold as I needed to eat...)
