Unfortunately i have no idea when this bad boy was made, but through some research i could probably say it was mid to late 80's and came from Japan. It has 24 Jumbo frets, on a ebony fingerboard which in turn is on a slim maple neck, nice. Body is likely to be alder with a figured maple top. The finish is a trans black, but with subtle colour layers, ie green and purple so that when the light shines on it just right you can pick out these colours.H/S/S set up with factory pickups, one push/pull volume, for humbucker coil tap, one tone and a 5 way switch. I have since replaced the stock pickups with an EMG-81, and 2 Seymour Duncan Hot Livewires, scorchin'. Bendmaster deluxe locking trem. All hardware is gold plated. Tuners are own brand. This bad boy is active with a 9v circuit.
Sound

I play mainly rock and metal, with a bit of funk thrown in for fun.
I play with a Peavey Studio Pro, through a cry baby, boss overdrive/distortion, and DD5. This bad boy covers the whole spectrum, good crisp clean sounds from it when clean, can get that nice tubey sound from the single coils, and a nice twang from the humbucker. Dirty this badboy comes to life, crunchy, squelchy, yet clear ringing with good sustain. This single coils did hum a little when the stock pickups were in but now they've changed and its all active it is silent. The sound im into right now is that dirty/greasy metal sound like on Metallica's Load, and this baby delivers. I love it.
Action, Fit, & Finish

When i got it, it wasn't the best but i have since lowered the bridge and adjusted the neck and now its as low as it can go which equals nice and fast. All the body work is perfect, all routing is smooth and considering its age there are very few marks on the body, the only small scuffs have come from myself, oops. The neck and fret work are spot on and i dont get any buzz from having the action so low. All the hardware is in the right place, fitted very well and is very comfortable to play.
Reliability/Durability

This guitar is old, and still looks and plays as if it were new. Everything is in perfect working order and i cannot see anything going wrong with it. The finish is very durable and has already taken some punishment without spoiling. I would definately use this at a gig without a back up, but saying that i can get a bit carried away and break a string now and then and we all know how crap it is to try and quickly change a string on a floyd.

The company no longer exists, although they did start up again in britain selling the cutlass and what not, but they dont have any info on the old skool axes. I haven't really bothered to try and contact them because nothing has gone wrong, and i dont think anything will/

Have been playing for about 7 years and also own a Epiphone LP with dimarzio humbuckers, and a tanglewood tw57 electro-acoustic. I wish i could have known more about this bad boys history but what can you do? If it were stolen, i would never lose it, i would hunt the bastard down and baseball bat his knees till they bent the other way. I would try and search out this again, have seen one or two on ebay now and then. I chose this for its metal usage, but has surprised me in its versatility. The only thing i dont like is that i find it hard to tap, but i think thats more my problem.
