My first guitar ever was the 112.
In my opinion it is the best guitar I ever bought.
The neck and the 22 frets are easy to get around. The body is solid and durable which is good for beginners and really aggressive players.
The pickups are a S/S/H configuration and all three have managed to last me 3 years.
Sound
:8
I play a sort of heavy metal style.
The 112 has the ability to sound extremely heavy while maintaining the high notes required for solos, which is good, because it suits my style, heavy and aggressive.

it will definetly withstand live playing, it is a cheap guitar that sounds and looks expensive.
I can really depend on it, if I want to learn a new song or play in front of a crowd I will go straight for the 112 it has never let me down.
I wouldn't use it at a gig without a backup though, I wouldn't risk damaging it beyond repair.

I have been playing for 3 years it is the best guitar I ever bought. I love everything apart from the pickup selector, mine is just tempermental, it works when it wants to work.
When I first seen it, I asked to try it out, I walked out the shop with it. It was almost like I was drawn to it, like I was meant to buy it and it has never let me down and it is extremely reliable.
Overall, A good beginner guitar, won't break the bank and good for experienced players too.

Bought mine in 2001/2002, it's the 112M, alder body with maple neck. A 22-fretted maple fingeroard, the build quality was good.
Strat-styled, but it's only got a volume-tone config, with a 5 way switch, and an S/S/H configuration.
The stock potentiometers and the 5 way switch were kinda noisy after about 2 months or so, thus i got them replaced with something better. The 5 way switch was changed to a GOTOH made in japan, the pots, i forgot.
Mine came with natural finish, and the tuners....well..the tuners are kinda crappy too. I hunted for a suitable set of machineheads at the beginning of the year, and I ended up using a set of Gotoh tuners
For this amount of cash, i think it's worth it though.
Sound
:8
I play mostly blues and rock, and this guitar suits it just fine, AFTER i changed the bridge to a seymour duncan SH-11.
I'm currently using a small crate amp with it, and a Vox Wah, Visual Sound Jekyll and Hyde, DOD Stereo Phaser and DOD Digital Delay. In the jamming studio, the guitar sounds good on the SH-11 when ran through a Marshall Stack, only thing is, the guitar sounds quite 'thin' when using the single coils when run into a high-gain amp.
I'm planning to retrofit the neck with a Seymour Duncan JB, and get it rewired for a push-pull pot.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:7
Initial action was good, but not to my liking. It was further set up by my good friend at the shop, and it was better after that.
Flaws wise, i think i couldn't realy find any except for the noisy pickup selector and the crappy machine heads.
Reliability/Durability

This guitar is built to take it.
I'm not one who's very careful, and even though i try to be as careful as possible with my guitars, i still knock them around.
This one's withstood about three years of live playing, and as mentioned by the previous reviews, it does seem to be built well like a rock.
Hardware wise, the stock ones wouldn't last long, and will undermine the actual tone of the guitar itself.
The strap button gave way within a year or so of me playing, so i replaced them with the locking strap tuners, and it actually became loose as i continue to play. Ended up using a wood filler to fill the hole and then drill the hole again. Now, it is solid.
Depend on this? yeah. week in week out, so long you replace the stock parts with something better, this is dependable.
The bridge isn't that good too, not heavy enough, and i replaced mine with a heavier one. Sounds much better.
Gig without a backup? I used to dare, but not now, for any gigs, i'll get a backup just in case, but if there's no way to get one, I'll gladly get on with this.

22 fret, got mine with the rosewood fingerboard, also available in maple. One tone control with a five way selecter. Pickup configuration S-S-H. Though change the Hum for a Piezo if you have the money. Solid alder body with bolt on maple neck.
Sound

The guitar features a solid alder body, which in conjunction with the powerful bridge humbucker and two single-coil pickups produces an impressive palette of vintage and rock sounds. Great for people with varying tastes in music. The humbucker does the job quite nicely. Has a full sound, gives out a variety of great tones.

Mine's a mid 90's model by the look of the aount to screws in the pick-guard (8). Its got a natural satin finish and a rosewood fretboard. 22 frets. S-S-H set-up.
Basicly when I got this guitar, it was in a mess. The guy before me put stickers all over the place (I hate Stickers on guitars), the pick-up selector had fallen apart, the bridge was half way to the neck and there was half a ton of crud all over it.
I started moding this right away. I placed a Dimarzio Fred in the bridge possition and a bridge pickup from a Honor guitar in the middle possition. I left the neck pickup in place because i like basic pickups in the neck. I replaced the five-way selector switch with three on/off switchs (one for each pickup) and a cut-off button that only engages when pressed down. Fixed the bridge down. Put some 11's on it (with a wound G string), then tuned the whole thing to standard C, Kyuss style. This guitar is very scary.
If this were a basic Pacifica, then I'd give it a 5 for features. But since my mods, I'll give it an 8.
Sound
:8
Before, this made no sound (yes it really was that broken). But now it really kicks out the jams. This guitar is made for stoner rock, and fits it very well indeed. I can get a hollow growl or hair-metalesque wail out of this with a simple turn of the tone (and thats just with the humbucker). The Dimarzio Fred really does let you govern the sound with pic attack, and gat easily reach the high gain settings without sounding like a shred guitar. The middle pickup gives out nice harmoncs and can give you feedback that can be controlled easily (I like anti solos). he neck pickup is nothing special, but can offer acoustic like tones or fatten up the sound of one of the other pickups nicely (and I really like the sound of single coil neck pickups anyway). The cut-off button is useful for getting those stop-start style riffs that i like.
If this was a basic Pacifica (I've played my freind's) it would get a 6 because it's basic but very vercitile. Mine gets another 8 (mainly because it's just what I was looking for).
Action, Fit, & Finish
:9
When I got this it was in dia shape, with no fit, action and (because of stickers) finish. I spent a good hour or so just making this look nice and the areas offinish that were not covered, look really good. I adjusted the action to the way I like it, not to low not to high, and buzz free. The nut didn't even need cutting for the fatter strings. All in all Pacificas are very well made for their price. I own a #560 Squire super sonic (a fender in all but name) and that's made of cheaper wood. An the neck is amazing, with smooth frets and nice depth. In the end a 9.
Reliability/Durability
:9
Well it was basicaly dead when i got it, and it's still ok. With a natural finish, you can't really chip the paint, so I guess you would never know. I might gig with out a back-up because the strings aren't under enough tension to break easily. But saying that anything could happen (I which case I need a new guitar). Stays in tune very well, so I'll give it a 9.

This guitar is a dream to me. I don't like the look of strats and this let me have a cheap guitar to work on without looking like something I dont want. I worked out that all the parts new (including the guitar) would cost #300, and with it all being used (including the Dimarzio Fred) I spent #100, thats a third the price! If I unwantingly parted with this guitar, I would be heartbroken, and try and put another one together. This guitar is certainly greater than the sum of it's parts.
I usually play this through a Yamaha amp i found (yes found), and i Goes through a Marshall "The Guv'nor" (origial, not the reissue), and it sounds so dark and scary at times. I love this guitar to bits and it often ends up showing me something new to do with the guitar everytime i pick it up.

Well, you know the spec from the other reviews. Mine is one of the later ones (2003) made in Taiwan, I think, and is in metallic red with a bubinga (!!??!!) finger board, which is a kind of rosewood apparently.
It actually came with a nice little owner's manual and all the necessary Allen keys, etc, to adjust it.
Sound
:8
I play mainly rock music, and I bought this as a back-up for my Fender US Fat Strat. It's got a more toppy sound than the Fender, but I'd say its just different, not necessarily worse. It clearly isn't going to be as good as a US Fender, but it is a very passable spare.
I use it through either a Line 6 Flextone II XL or a Line 6 Spider 112 (depending on whether I'm travelling light or not) and it sounds fine. If anything I'd say it's a bit louder than the Fender.
For the money the sound can't be faulted.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The set-up straight out of the box was fine (and I bought mine mail order, still with the rust-proof paper round the strings, so I know it hadn't been tweaked by the supplier). I tweaked it a bit because I put 10s on it and blcoked off the trem (which, incidentally was perfectly set-up to float properly (once it was tuned up) straight out of the box - amazing!) and it is very comfortable and nice to play.
The trem is of the "vintage" type, so it's not going to compete with the Fender US standard Strat bridge, or Wilkinsons, or that sort of thing, but it does the job OK, and tuning stability is OK. The nut was cut fine, if perhaps just a whisker too high, and the frets were all nicely polished. The whole feel of the thing is very vintage with high, skinny frets, vintage-ish neck, vintage trem, etc. The only thing giving it a more modern twist is the neck humbucker, and I like that.
My only gripe is that the string height adjustment screws stand too proud of the saddles and so it can be uncomfortable to rest my hand on the bridge. Some time I'll get round to shortening them.
The finish on the body and neck are nothing short of miraculous for the price, it all fits together perfectly and the hardware, 'tronics and tuners are all fine. Hell, it stays in tune whatever you do to it!
Reliability/Durability
:8
I've played this guitar with my band, and it stands up to it fine. I'd be quite happy to gig this guitar without any backup at all. A friend of mine's son has one which he's really badly mis-treated, but is still plays fine, even though it looks like a piece of garbage!

I've been playing for over 20 years and I also use a Fender US Fat Strat, Yamaha APX5A Electro-acoustic and a Fender Telecoustic. Amp-wise I use a Line 6 Flextone II XL or a Line 6 Spider 112 and also have a Zoom 505II multi-FX and a Zoom 504II Acoustic multi-FX.
The only thing I wish I'd asked before buying this guitar is that I wish I'd asked to try one out in a shop sooner before I wasted a load of money on other budget guitars as a backup (Washburn super-strat, Epiphone Les Paul, etc.) none of which have ever been a satisfactory backup for my Strat. If I fell on hard times and could only keep this one guitar I'd be a bit sad to see the others go, but it wouldn't be too bad.
If it was stolen I'd order another one before I even had the insurance money. I love the sound and feel of this guitar and the general vibe. The finish is great; very striking and it plays like a dream.
You really cannot get a better guitar than this for under #300. If you want a back-up guitar, or if you are a beginner, don't mess about: buy one.

2002 model of the popular 112M, maple fingerboard, alder body, maple neck, 22 frets, awful bridge humbucker (see later) and decent single coils in the neck and middle. Other niggles include poorly finished nut, cheap looking tremolo arm. But at the price all are easily fixed and doesn't take away from a great value guitar
Sound
:6
Played straight out of the box. Very impressed with neck and middle pickups, but the bridge 'bucker is terrible. Was the first thing to be replaced, still saving up to replace the nut, bridge and saddles and trem with Graph tecs, also replacing the tuners with Sperzels.
Overall a very impressive all round guitar, a bit light, but then that's after 5 years playing a Les Paul. The guitar can handle good old fashioned blues (SRV), to clean arpeggio stuff right through Green Day to Mark Tremonti style grunge.
The body and overall construction is superb for this price, the trade off comes with the crappy electrics, nut and tremolo.
The maple neck gives it a brighter, glassier sound than the rosewood, which to me felt too 'dark' for this type of guitar. It really does suit being thrown around for pop-punk stuff rather than striking poses liek Jimmy Page/Les Paul.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:6
Set-up by the store (Merchant City Music in Glasgow, UK), too low for my liking but easily remedied.
The main flaw is that, once I'd replaced the 'bucker with an old Ibanez stock one, the strings aren't aligned over the pole pieces of the neck and middle p/ups. Quite annoying.

Haven't gigged this guitar yet, but feel it'll be more than up the job once finished. I don't think the factory fitted hardware would stand up to regular gigging, but like I said, you're really trading excellent materials and build quality for bargain basement hardware.
Would never ever gig without my LP as a backup.

Playing semi-pro for four years. Also own a Fender Mx Tele and a Epi Les Paul, and an Ibanez Destroyer although it's had all the electrics taken out. a 15W and 50W set of Laney valve amps, various pedals and a KORG AX1000 pedal board.
Would replace it if nicked. Compared it to a Fender Squier tele, Squier Strat and 112 Rosewood fingerboard. It wiped the floor with the Fenders.

can't really say what the origional features were like, cos i changed pretty much all of them. fitted a seymore '59 bridge, rigged for series/split/phased and a lil 59 neck rigged for series/split/parallel. replaced the tuners with sperzel lockers, stiffened the bridge, and am about to replace the pick guard with a home made aluminium one. but the point is that the basic body and neck of this guitar is easily a match for any fender.

I have owned this guitar now for about 6 years. I use it through pod 2 with a floorboard and go into a vox amp. It sounds great. I dont need anything else. it can play anything and sound convincing. I play loads of stuff on it blues, metal, mainly rock stuff like led zep, u2 etc. neck pickup is great, the main clean sound i use is the toptwo pickups, position 2, its slightly warmer than just the top. The humbucker whilst bein a bit cheap is still good. I've played loads of guitars and i still prefer this one. Humbucker gives a great cutting tone, not too thin, not too warm. Personally i prefer just having one tone control, much simpler.
