This is a super axe...dont know why all the rave about Ibanez and Jackson. Yamaha is a serious axe
with all the same quality as these two mentioned.
It's a Japanese made guitar so the quality is there
it's H/S/H with a wide flat maple neck with some cool Z neck black inlays. It's a Tele type body with the older "2" bar bolt on neck supports instead of the usual neck plate. It is cool.
NOW HERE IS THE WIERD PART, I am NOT a rock player. I am a Jazzer and find the neck perfect for full 6 string jazz chords, I dont like the weenie 3 or 4 string chords some jazzers use (or any other players use for the matter) I feel you lose a lot of tone and fullness if you use less strings. I have other guitars but I like this one. I blocked off the whammy mechanism and dont ude the bar at all. I also play a lot of chicken picken stuff and the bends would cause none bent strings that I do use (I use as many strings as possible while playing) to go out of tune.....so I blocked the damned thing. The natural vibrato is so much better sounding and I dont dive bomb. I like the Stevie Vie's of the world but I dont
play it.....It seems kind of "contrived" and not "real"...kinda like singing in a "falsetto" all the time ---I think I screwed up the spelling..

Sound : 10
GREAT SOUND !...thats why I put up with the ribbing from the other jazzers when I use this kind of guitar, It's worth it. I use my Guild hollow body also, just shut them up.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Very good quality, and no flaws anywhere, even at joints where you usually find the messed up stuff,
like on my strat (70's quality was NOT that cool---but still cant bear the thought of selling my
strat)

Reliability/Durability : 10
Now, just what can go wrong on a guitar....I've yet to own one that the neck fell off when playing..
this guitar is no exception.

Customer Support : No Opinion
who knows ??

I've been playing for at least 35 years. I started out in rock bands, country groups, and finally now in real music: ie. JAZZ !....actually all music is cool
just some music requires more ability..Try some jazz chordings with finger picking and no pick and good tone. Add alittle delay-reverb and even a little creamy bit of bite (little overdrive) seasoned with compression and man thats music. You can hammer all you want and EVH DOES sound fantastic !..but it gets a bit old after a while...also picking the same note over and over in fast fashion is NOT the same as picking at the same speed but DIFFERENT notes of an intelligable scale. That is an art. It's something you grow into, kinda like a progression......anyway
this Yammy is a real steal...I have other Yamahas.
I am a proud owner of late model SA-2200 with all the fancy quality detail that Gibson doesn't even put into their super high end hollow body models.
Yamaha is very under-rated....they make great quality
guitars and the prices are just fantastic.
It's the actual real raw quality of the instrument
NOT the "brand name" and it's the talent of the musician that brings it to life and to it's true potential.......
