I bought this guitar to take with me on trips, it came with some nice accessoires: a strap, extra strings (yamaha folk strings), a blue plastic capo that doesn't really work, a gigbag that fell apart after a year, a stringwinder, a pitchflute and some nice picks. They are nice extras but nothing more than that. The guitar is a 20-fret natural dreadnought and looks like a standard guitar with no extra stuff. It's functional and well made.

I play mostly Neil Young songs and this guitar does a good job with that. The sound is nice and gentle, but I can't call it "rich". Of course a real rich sound can't be expected from such a cheap guitar.

For an example of what this guitar sounds like you can listen to this home recording: http://www.hayovanreek.nl/files/music/interstate.mp3

The setup was good when I bought this guitar. It had a little bit of buzzing going on the frets at first but that went away when the strings got a little older. It actually plays a bit lighter than my martin d28.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I've had this guitar since april 2004 and took it with me on many trips and it has seen many campfires and roads. Tho it made the sound a bit thinner than it used to be the guitar still sounds great (also keeping in mind I never changed strings) and the intonation is still good. I personally would not use this guitar for gigging, but that's not what I bought it for.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I never had any problems with this guitar.

Overall Rating : 10
For this price this is probably one of the best guitars you can get. It sounds and plays good and it's pretty durable too. I originally bought it just as a travelguitar, but it soon replaced my other guitar untill I got a martin. Since then it has served as a guitar for lower tunings.

i bought this guitar for my 15th birthday and i learned guitar with it and it was a godsend for me befor i moved on to the electrics especially the very rare yamaha sf1000. nice colour of body and its 1 guitar that can take a beating.

Sound : 8
when you tune this guitar you wont need to tune it again for a very long time. it is better played with plectrum as the sound is better.although the strap pegs are somewhat to be desired.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
i purchased this guitar tuned and no flaws but the outer body is a bit weak but can certainly take a bruising.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
i still have and play this guitar to this day and im sure co-owners will agree it is a more enjoyable relaxed playng guitar.

Very basic low end, laminated acoustic guitar. It's got a soundhole, strings and frets. That's really all you need to make music.

Sound : 7
For the price of this guitar, you would be hard pressed to find better volume and tone.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The playability of this guitar is as good as any guitar at 3 or 4x's the price

Reliability/Durability : 9
My 12 yr old nephew has taken 3 years of lessons on this guitar. I don't think there is one piece of furniture he hasn't whacked the guitar off of. The guitar looks like it has been in a war and yet in 10 years it has never needed and professional work.
Again, for the price, I don't think you'll find anything out there that would put up with the abuse that this guitar has.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing guitar for about 20yrs. I have a Gibson J-100 Super Jumbo an American Strat and a variety of lesser known acoustic and Electric guitars. If I was starting all over again and had to buy my first guitar on a limited amount of money, I would buy a Yamaha 310 in a heartbeat.

Sometime 2000 - 2002. Made in Indonesia. 20 Frets. To say it is a laminated guitar would be a compliment. Lets call it stiff cardboard glued together to give it wood like qualities. The neck is decent, so is the fretboard. It is a full, standard size guitar. It has a standard pin type mahogony bridge with plastic saddle and a plasitc nut. The tuners are standard grover-clones.

Sound : 3
Django Reinhart, Lightining Hopkins, or Eric Clapton could make this guitar sing, otherwise I don't think it was actually designed to be played. It was designed to be purchased by someone's parent -- and given as a christmas present -- to live its life in a closet. It sounds exactly perfect for that.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 3
It has poor quality materials, a poorly cut nut, a plastic saddle with a visible seam, and obviously completely glued using epoxy (therefore absolutely no chance of ever repairing it if it fails.) A cheap guitar using the cheapest materials available.

But it does have a truss rod. And it does not actually cause physical pain to play it -- which is not true of all guitars.

Reliability/Durability : 6
This would be an excellent guitar to smash on stage. You would not have to worry about splinters.

It probably will never fall apart -- although you may wish it would.

Customer Support : 1
The most egredious flaw is that this guitar carries the Yamaha name. Shame on you Yamaha -- you used to be a great company.

Overall Rating : 4
I have been playing for close to thirty years, and see it as my mission to steer people away from drek like this. Buy a good used guitar instead. Don't buy this guitar new. Don't buy it for your kid new. Only buy it if you can't afford anything else -- or if you want to part it out (what I am going to do with it.) Tuners: $20. Tuner Bushings: $7. Frets: $5 Bridge: $10. Bridge Pins and end pin: $3.50 = $45

Made in Indonesia, great starter guitar. Good sound and tone, especially for a guitar of its price range. Includes tuner, extra strings, picks, polish, polishing cloth, starp, softshell case. Nice finish, 20 frets, standard size dreadnaught.

Sound : 7
Very good sound, althought the strings that come with the guitar were far too thin for me, gave it a lighter and airyier sound. A new set of strings helped the sound out greatly

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Only problem is that the bridge is quite high, had to be filed down by about 1/8 inch

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
Dependable, very good finish, will last many years

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 7
I've been playing about 2 years, compared to other cheaper acoustics this guitar is a best buy. Great starter giutar
