Solid cedar top, ovokangol body, rosewood bridge and fingerboard, gold plated tuners with plastic (pearl) knobs. Gloss finish is very nice as is the rosette around the sound hole. Case bought separetely.

I've been playing guitar for 35 years, mainly electric and steel string acoustic, and purely as hobbyist. This is my fourth classical guitar, and thus far the best I've ever owned. The solid cedar top can't be beat for its booming lows, mellow highs and very well balanced mids on all frets and all strings. Yamaha seems to have put a lot of thought into this guitar, and priced it as a good entry level model for beginning or intermediate guitar players. In short, it's the kind of guitar most players aren't going to out-play, unlike cheaper plywood topped guitars that sound so awful they can actually discourage practice. I tried pricier guitars in the shop, Cordobas, Ramirez, Contreras, and I preferred the sound and balanced range of this Yamaha CG151C.

Excellent intonation. Slightly oxidized strings from hanging in a music shop in Hawaii, just a mile from salty ocean water, but I always put new strings on every guitar I buy first thing. The D'Addario Pro Art EJ45s (normal tension) sound a lot better than the strings that came on it. For a brighter sound which some players might prefer, I'm sure bronze wound nylons would work fine.

This guitar is built to take it. A heavy laquer finish doesn't seem to have affected the sound, and I wouldn't hesitate to take this baby on the road. The tuners are very stable and sensitive, despite their "toyish" appearance.

Never dealt with yamaha, but every product I've had of theirs has been worth the investment and hasn't required any maintenance.

I definitely would replace this guitar if it were lost or stolen. I'd like to see sturdier looking tuners on it, but as far as sound quality goes for the price, this guitar is a bargain...no, it's a steal.
