I've had my FG-460S for about 30 years and it still sounds good.
Mine is a solid spruce top, mahogany sided dred with a Martin style bridge. MOP inlays with abalone rosette add to the unique look of a vintage guitar.

I strum and pick and my Yamaha sounds good doing both. The sound after 30 years is rich but still bright. About 20 years ago a leather strap that I used broke and the 460S bounced once on a concrete floor (we were playing X-mas eve at a nursing home)I've had it repaired and it is none the worse for wear- the sound is the same!

The action from the factory was set high. My set-up is low-I've replaced the plastic saddle with bone which really brightens up the sound. From the factory the fit and finish was fine. After all of these years my Yamaha has taken on "charachter".

I've played in front of live audiences and it has never let me down. This guitar is one of my back-ups that I sometimes use just for a change.

After 30+ years of strumming and picking, I am satisfied. I own 2 Martins (D 16RGT and an LXME), a Gagliano 6 string beater, a Fender banjo and the Yamaha FG460S. I wish there were built in pickups and EQ in the Yamaha. I love how it feels and plays....I have gotten my monies worth.

It's a nice guitar that I bought new back in 1984 and it's still going strong.

One of the best acoustic guitars I've ever heard.

Since I've played the guitar for 20 years now, I've had to periodically make adjustments to keep it sounding and playing properly.

I've been playing this guitar for 20 years. That alone speaks volumes for durability.

I've been playing for 25 years. Shortly after I bought the Yamaha FG460S, I installed a pickup under the bridge. It still sounds great through the right amp. My only wish is that it had a pre-amp with EQ and volume control but that would involve making cuts in the body of the guitar that I just don't want to do. That guitar has literally been around the world twice and has had more beer spilled on it that I care to think about... yet it is still in excellent condition. It plays better and sounds better than many of the newer guitars I've heard recently.

I play all types of music and this guitar really makes me proud
it has a very well rounded sound to it, its rich and full. I couldn't explain how much i love the sound. i had a bone saddle put on it so that made the guitar compete with any guitar i've played (except for the more expensive Martins)

I bought the guitar used so it was already set up really well. It has a slight buzzing on the top string. It had some playing scratches as well as a flaw in the top of the soundboard, but other than that its a very handsome guitar.

this guitar list for around $800 new and i feel that I got a great deal. I feel no shame when i am playing with someone who has a guitar worth 4times what i paid for mine. other than a few cosmetic flaws its really a great guitar.
