I bought this guitar in the summer of 2007 (or was it 2006?). It features a spruce top with beautiful sycamore sides and back. It definitely has enough frets. Everything is well proportioned. Couldn't complain about the features.

Sound : 9
The sound of this guitar is very, very, very rich. It has some big bass sound, as well as ringing treble. This is a great guitar if you are covering a wide range of sounds in your music. If you're playing in a band, depending on what part you play, this instrument may sometimes overpower the other instruments, but that as well can be controlled :)

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I've had this guitar for a few years now, and everything has held up perfectly well. I cannot complain about any physical technicality for this guitar. It has gone through a lot, and come out considerably fit and ready for another song!

Reliability/Durability : 9
This guitar seems like it is fit for anything. I've only had it around 3 or 4 years, but it is in almost as great a shape as the day I bought it. I've dropped it many times, it has fallen many times, and many people have bumped it into things. Besdies from a few incredibly minor scratches and dents, this guitar is in top shape.

This is really my favorite guitar. I've played many, but nothing compares to this one. The sound is beautiful, it looks nice, it is reliable, it feels good, it lasts, and there just seems like there's nothing bad to say about it.

As stated above + great looks.

Sound : 7
I find this guitar to have a very nice balance, although, for a dreadnaught, lacking severely in the oomph department when it comes to digging in. This seems to translate to a flabby sort of rubber band feeling when trying to emphasize bass notes or digging harder for a powerful lead. It's just not there. That being said, I never fail to get oozing compliments on the "pretty" sound (from non-musicians) & "awesome acoustic, dude" from other guitar players.
I am primarily a finger-style player - no picks - yet still feel the need for some growl when I dig in. My Yairi DY-85 had this in spades, as well as a tear-jerking, delicate, detailed tone when played lightly. I LOVED that guitar over any old Martin, Gibson, Taylor, or Larivee I've ever played & hope my dear old friend will sell it back to me one day (I was short for rent).

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Neck has an extremely easy grip. Finish/woods/overall looks are very aesthetically pleasing. Tuners have no issues whatsoever. Frets were near flawless (if you want an example of perfection, try a Deusenberg guitar). The way this particular guitar (& many others) is built doesn't leave a decent string break-angle on the saddle when the action is set properly. Could this have something to do with volume & power issues? My educated guess is that it is more to do with the top and bracing.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Hopefully, in roughly twenty years or so, this guitar will sound as great as those Yamaha FG-180 dreadnaughts from the late '60s; the ones going for a grand on eBay these days. I don't plan on waiting though....

I've been playing for about 15 years now. I've suffered in the past from chasing that holy grail of equipment pieces. My friend owns a cheap f-150 from the '80s? that I've always loved playing. Now I'm starting to appreciate the hidden gems more in life. I bought this guitar on a whim, on a Friday, on my way home from work, which was one short stop from heading out to the lake for the weekend to jam with some musician pals around the campfire. If it were lost/stolen etc., I'd collect insurance (hopefully they'd steal everything) and buy back my Yairi and never look at another woman - I mean acoustic guitar - again.

Dread body. Solid spruce top. Beautiful Sycamore sides, sort of shinny and 3D looking. The looks caught my eye. Nice thin Yamaha neck.
Tortise-like binding on body, and cool tuner buttons. Gloss finish on body, satin on neck. A simple, but very pretty guitar.
Have to add a second strap button.

Sound : 8
This is a loud guitar. I've had it for about a year, changed to bone saddle about 6 months ago and use horn bridge pins. Bright sound, maybe the new saddle, probably the Sycamore, gives it a Maple type brightness. My 25 year old FG340 has rosewood sides and back, a bone saddle, graphite nut and a much deeper, richer, complex tone. Of course it has also aged 25 years, so we'll see what time does to the tone on this one. Overall, good sustain and good sound. I just like darker sounding acoustics.
Having played a few top of the lines.....
this one reminds me more of Gibson or Taylor than Martin or Guild.

My skill level is limited, having been a Hammond player in my youth, and use this once in a while with a Dean Markley sound hole pick-up jamming with friends. When we perform, I either use the old FG340 (has under saddle pick-up installed) or a Mitchell A/E for greater amplification. In the practice room, the Markley pu is loud enough and sounds good.
For our style of playing, early Stones, Beatles, some blues, some Petty, this acoustic handles the rhythm just fine. Leads... well I'm not there yet, but some fill-in figures cut thought he mix nicely. As a one man show at a party o or at the beach, this guitar fills the venue. I think it's too nice to use as a beater, though.
I'm hoping this will age like the FG340 I've had the past 25 years. Then it would be a 10.
For the price, it's great now.......

But then there are the Guild's....so I'll stay with an 8

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Right off the shelve, everything was fine. I have a funky swirly grain pattern in one small spot, and minimal grain runout shifting the color of the two halves as you twist it in the light, but I saw that going in, and compared side by side to the 4 on the wall at Guitar Center, I liked the sound of mine the best. They all had a bit of runout, not prefectly bookmatched. Most websites I'm researched on this say it seems to be mostly cosmetic. Overall, not being picky picky picky, this is a nicely done guitar.
One problem, the bottom strap button kept popping out, reglued twice, then finally put in a plug and a screwed in metal bottom starp button. Prpbably could have taken it for warranty, but......

Reliability/Durability : 10
I beat the hell out of my FG340 these past 25 years. It's like a Timex....keeps on ticking. I would expect this to do the same. And as I am now older, wiser and less prone to play for large rooms full of drunks (only small rooms full of drunks) this guitar will probably see less abuse, digs, falls, etc.
And I bet The Beatles never gigged without a backup.

I am strictly an amature guitar player, having retired from the Mighty B3 when my back, and my band mates backs, gave out. This being said, I have been playing professionally in one form or another for over 40 years. I've heard some good and some awful guitars. I've played some good and some awful guitars. My guitar player best-friend band mate whose back is damaged from lifting the BBoy, has a $3,500 Taylor, a vintage Martin, a '72 Les Paul. I own the 25 year old Yamaha acoustic and a '62 Guild Starfire III electric, among others.
This is a good quality guitar, and for the price I paid (special sale at $300.00) it was worth it. There are some that may sound better out there, (the Epiphone Masterbuilts, and the new Washburn Jumbo's come to mind), but add at least $200 - $400 bucks for that darker, complex sound. If it were stolen, I'd be pissed. If I could get the same deal, Id buy another FG750. But I might go for the bigger sound of a Jumbo, as the OLD FG340 has tone deluxe.

Well, I think any level of player can appreciate that this is a very nice, simple guitar that w/ Sitka top and Sycamore body and sides is very pleasing to the eye......the neck is firendly, the tuners are functional - yet basic.......just a solid guitar -

I play Rock/Altenative/Folk - sound is very full - just an absolute 10 right off the rack.......

Again.....at this price point - the fit/finish is wonderful....no excess glue....sturdy....fabulous finish......well constructed and well detailed

Reliability/Durability : 9
I will definitely gig this guitar, have had no problems playing it everyday........very dependable.........I always have a back up - no matter the instrument being played

Customer Support : 10
No warranty needs - I understand it has a lifetime warranty

Overall Rating : 10
Been playing about 2 years.......have shed all othe acoustics for this one....my next will be a Breedlove - only other guitar I have played that sounds better (although it is twice the price) in the sub $1000 price range. Looked at Martin, Breedlove, Fender and Taylor...

Wish they made this exact guitar in acoustic/electric.....probably the BEST guitar under $500.......

Made 2006 in Taiwan, features as described elsewhere. Mine is now set up for fingerstyle play and has unbleached bone saddle and nut. All the basic dreadnaught features and well done. Sycamore works well for back/sides and Sitka spruce top is a good one.

Sound : 10
At a discount from GC, it was under $300. This guitar is amazing at that price range and beats all but the best Gibson and Martin as well as Taylor models in the $1500+ range. Very strong sustain, beautifully balanced and separate string to string. Responsive, loud enough, and a 'modern' and versatile sound. No boominess or tinny sound to this one even stock.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Excellent build inside and out. Good woods and nicely trimmed neck and ehadstock (narrow white stripe). Very impressive flame in the sycamore sides/back. Everything is tight and right and it played really well from the factory. A '10' becasue ther is nothing to fault and everything to love! Finish lets the grain show through.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Definitely a well made and sturdy guitar.

Easy '10'. It's in the same league with the Guild GAD25 (all mahogany) and priced similar (GAD25 is $500 w. nice case..also from China). The FG750S is spooky good for the money. It's almost in there with my luthier's new Dove, but not as warm and smooth. But it is 1/5 the cost of a dealer cost! That is getting weird! But grab one of these and you'll be sold on it. Add a K&K Sound Pure Western Mini and you're set!

THERE IS AN OLD FG-750s and a NEW FG-750s. The new one has brown tuners and this review is for the new one.

This guitar was made brand new for 2005.
Top Solid Sitka Spruce
Back & Sides Sycamore
Fingerboard Tortoise/Black/White
Body & Neck Binding Black/White
Tuners Diecast with Vintage Plastic Pegs

Absolutely beautiful, durable and professional looking guitar.

Sound : 10
WOW. This guitar resonates LOUD!! I find that when i play chords, the sounds all blend together really nicely. This guitar would suit any acoustic player's needs in terms of sounds. It has a more rich and full sound than a bright sound (due to the woods). I find nothing wrong with the sound. Its awesome.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Guitar set-up from the factory = LOW action. No flaws whatsoever! If you look inside the guitar, everything is neat and tidy.. no glue or loose ends. Really quality craftsmanship. The finish is nice and shiny, really durable too.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar could do a live performance in a small, quiet room. You could always turn it into an AE with a pickup. The hardware will definately last because the finish is quality. The strap button is solid, havent had any problems with it yet.

Yes i can depend on this guitar as i plan to keep it for a long time.

Never had to deal with C/S.

Overall Rating : 10
Fantastic guitar. One of the best in its price range. I've been playing for almost a year.. i also have an Ibanez SA160qm and a Valvetronix 15watt amp. If this guitar was stolen/lost, i'd cry but i would definately replace it with the same.

I love the sound that comes out of this guitar. Its loud and the chords blend together beautifully. The action comes low so its easy to play. Yamaha specifically designed the FG series to have great playability along with good craftsmanship and great quality.

I wish they made this guitar a cutaway/AE but thats about it.

Not much to say about acoustics, check the specifics in the YAmaha website...

Sound : 10
This guitar Sounds really good...its amazing how i got it new for free, You just really feel the Bass and the highs ringing. though not the high quality of a MArtin but it certainly gets close to the acoustic sound you listen everynow and then in recordings. It really sounds good with every note so vibrant when you strike it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
The Volume on it is nice indeed. It really puts a punch in the room, and playing it is really comfortable. a nice thin necked acoustic, the finish has no problems everything really well made.

Reliability/Durability : 9

I'm not sure in what year this guitar was made, but my dad bought it in college around twenty years ago, which would have been around 1980. I has twenty frets and looks like it's a solid top, but not sure about the type of woods used. It is completely acoustic, and I don't really know anything about the finishes, so I can't help you there. It is a dreadnought guitar without a cutaway, with the simplest bridge you can find (including bridge pins). The tuners are also Yamaha brand and are made in Japan, and are non-locking. It's a standard size neck (according to thinkness), and its fretboard is probably rosewood.

Sound : 9
I really like the sound of this guitar. I've played probably a dozen or so six-string acoustic guitars, so you can judge the reliability of my opinion. It has good volume, and though it might sound like and "average" guitar, it has better than average bass, which I prefer over more twangy acoustics. With new strings it sounds "bright," but it plays extremily well in the lower, denser areas, too. The only thing I wish it had was a brighter sound, because then it would basically become the most versatile guitar I've heard. I also believe in guitar aging, which I think also contributes to the guitar's sound. I doubt it would've sounded as good fifteen years ago.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
It seems to be constructed fine, with virtually no string vibration ever on the frets. I think I've played guitars with a lower action than this one that still didn't buzz, but mine plays pretty well considering. The bridge is very slightly off, so a few of the string's harmonics don't quite match with the twelfth fret, but it's not noticable to novices and doesn't affect its playing at all. It had its share of knicks and scratches, but I was told it's in great condition considering its age.

Reliability/Durability : 7
If you use the correct plectrums (preferably a 0.60 milimeter Dunlop Match Pik?) it resists string break incredibly. I've used Match Piks for twelve months and haven't broken a string (using them). I've had to fill with putty and then re-drill four or five of the screw holes for the tuning machines because they were stripped. There only one strap button, at the foot of the guitar. As long as I had enough picks and extra strings (just in case of a break), I would use if one a "gig" without a backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 6
I've been playing guitar for three years, I have Mexican made Fender stratocaster. I think I would replace the Yamaha with a diffent, nicer guitar if it was lost. I REALLY wish it was an electric acoustic, and at an extreme end I might have it made into an electric acoustic. I can't believe I'm giving it a six, but I guess it's the 9 in the sound section that really makes me like this guitar.

This a mid-late 70's six string acoustic made in Taiwan. It features solid spruce top (hence the 'S' designation in the model number), mahogony back & sides and a nato neck. The rosewood fretboard has 20 frets. No electronics, straight acoustic.

Sound : 10
I bought this guitar simply because I fell in love with the sound the first time I played it in the music store. It is the most balanced acoustic guitar ever. The low end is pronounced, but not deep and rich, like a Martin. The highs are easily heard, but not trebly or 'crashy' like cheaper guitars. The volume is plenty loud enough for me.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
This particular guitar is a 'factory second', designated by the Roman numeral II stamped on the sticker inside and more noticably the 2 inch crack running down from the left side of the saddle. It was cleated at the factory and I swear it has not affected the sound at all. The finish itself is natural and a bit heavier than what's found on more expensive guitars. The action was originally a little high (seems to be a Yamaha thing), but I had it adjusted and it's great.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Like steel this guitar is. I've dragged this poor old thing all over creation. I done things to it that I'm ashamed to say. You just can't wreck this guitar, short of TNT.

Customer Support : No Opinion
See above!

Overall Rating : 10
I would track down and kill anyone who took this guitar. I've had it for 20 years and along with my '72 Les Paul Deluxe it gives me about everything I need guitar-wise. For the tone of this guitar alone I have to give it the highest rating.
