Classical Guitar manufactured by Yamaha in Taiwan. By its serial number it was manufactured August 5, 1978. First class Solid Spruce top, laminated rosewood sides & back. Ebony fretboard with Nato neck (have been trying to identify this wood, and can not find any information). Jacaranda bridge. Beautiful Marquettery rosette, with same pattern on binding, back stripe, and on bridge. Tuners are gold-plated with elaborate pearl knobs. Looks like a more expensive handcrafted guitar.

Sound : 10
Sounds like a more expensive guitar. Excellent for playing classical music, very rich & full sound, the one you can get out of the best quality solid spruce top.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Excellent action, fit & finish. I only find the upper part of the neck at the 1rst & 2d fret bit wide when you feel it, I am accostumed to Takamine Classics with a less wide feeling. The finish is suberb!

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar is in mint condition, looks like new. For a 24 year old guitar it really talks good of its reliability & durability.

Customer Support : 10
By now a 24 year old guitar has no warranty. But I E-mailed Yamaha asking if today they have in their product catalog an equivalent model, and got a promt answer from their guitar-guru the the closest model today to the G255S is the CG171S.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for almost 20 years exclusively classical guitars. I have own, and played Spanish made brands such as Tatay, Ramirez, other Yamahas, and currently have a Takamine Classical. Would buy it again. It feels, plays, and looks like a more expensive handcrafted guitar. Kudos for Yamaha.

Yamaha classical guitar, AAA solid spruce top, beautifull rosewood back & sides, 12 clear frets 19 total all on ebony with a rosewood bridge, fancy roset and all the binding and back stripe in roset pattern, 2-1/4 nut, open classial tuners for nylon all in gold with pearl knobs. top is colored aged amber. Made in china 1980- 1982 and happens to be a very fine instrument. Neck apears to be mahogony.

Sound : 10
This guitar ranks with the very best as far as the sound goes. you can virtualy tune it by hearing when each of the strings ring there harmonics on open tuneing. It realy has the $1000 plus sound that the pro's look for. It also looks that good.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
action is very good as it comes with the strings set low. fit and finnish are supurb and you would never believe, it was mfg'd in Taiwan.
the nut width is a bit wide though being 2-1/4". there some small finish crackeling along the heal and a small crack starting in the ebony fingerboard at the sound hole but thats nothing considering its over 20 yrs old now.

Reliability/Durability : 8
this guitar has made it for over 20 years now and was used in concert at Fivetowns music school. So I would have to say its dependable as heck. It pretty much still looks new. except for the small crackeling at the heel and the small crack in the begining of the fret board its still about perfect.

Customer Support : 5
Never had to use there warrantee but once sent them an E-Mail with no return responce.

I originaly purchased this guitar to help a friend in need. I probley wouldnt buy it again as I am not a clasical guitar player. If I was it would be an excelent choice though. This thing realy does sound great (very toneful). Very beautifull looking guitar. the rosewood is some of the nicest i've ever seen on a guitar. The nut is too wide.
I play smooth jazz and blues and if I wanted to use a nylon string guitar it would have to be electric. I've been playing for 40 years and have over 14 guitars and three Crate Amps. I use only Boss/Roland effects. I just added a Taylor to my collection.
