I am unsure of what year this guitar was made it is made in Japan
20 Frets, 14 before the body, Solid Spruce top, Solid Mahogany sides/back. Satin finish on neck glossy finish on body open gear tuners with common mounting. I bought this guitar with the original Tag that it would have hung in the store with and also the original hardshell denim covered ?? case.As near as I can tell this guitar seems to be a copy of a Martin D18 even the rosette design and purfling design is exact copy of what martin did on their D18's. The only thing that I can see that would make this guitar better would be rosewood sides/back.

Sound : 10
I would give this guitar much praise for its sound. I have a nice takamine acoustic with a solid spruce top and while the tak is a little easier to play it doesn't sound anywhere near as nice as this guitar does. This guitar has a very full sound.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
I have no idea how this guitar was when it was new because when i bought it from a pawnshop it was a basketcase. Someone had changed the nut and saddle and done a very poor job, the nut was the wrong size for the guitar all together and the saddle was milled down too far, the action was low but almost every string buzzed all over the neck. with some work and a new bone saddle and tusq nut it sounds much better. I would say this guitar is about 25+ years old and it has no problems with fit and finish at all. the finish is still perfect just as new. It has aged very gracefully.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar was built too last there are no signs of stress or abnornal wear at all on this instrument.

Customer Support : 2
This instrument came with a 1 year warranty from Great West Imports LTD in Vancouver British Columbia, Canada. The company is no longer around. I don't think this instrument will ever need to be repaired unless it's abused or kept at a poor humidity.

Overall Rating : 10
When i bought this guitar I had no idea what a Yamaki was. The only reason I decided to buy it was because it had a solid spruce top thats all i knew about it at the time. The people who were selling it had obviously never heard about it either since they sold it to me for $125 including the hardshell case. I still like to play my takamine a little more beacuse it is a cutaway design and a little easier to play but for sound quality this guitar cant be beat. The only guitar that I have played that I liked better than this was a $5000 Taylor.
