This is an absolutely beautiful guitar hand made in Canada by the Master Guitar maker. It was made in 1999 and has 24 frets. It is a solid top guitar with a thin neck. It has unique sound holes in the guitar. It is a somewhat small and very light guitar that doubles as a piece of art. It has a solid top.
It has Gotoh tuners and Chrome hardware. The electronics are interesting in that it has a volume dial and 2-2 way switches. I am writing this critically. So I am not exaggerating the ratings.
Sound

The guitar has a clean, fabulous rock type sound. It is so crisp that it is unmatched. I have been playing it through 2 different Peavey amps; the transtube with 4-10s and the transtube with 2-12s. I also played it through a Fender Chorus and a Marshall Valve State. It sounds beautiful through each amp. It is very quiet. The sound ranges from nice and bright to rich. It is now my choice for playing rock sounds.
Action, Fit, & Finish

I am an action fanatic. The action on this guitar was set perfectly by Alex at the factory. I have not had to take it in for an adjustment. It is a very fast guitar to play and easy to move from lower frets to upper ones. This guitar contained no flaws. I gave the action a 9 because I do not believe perfection is absolutely possible given my taste over 36 years of playing guitar.
Reliability/Durability

Everything on the guitar is solid. I do not anticipate any problems playing live. Clearly the finish is so good that it will sustain a beating. I would depend on it although I like it so much I am buying another one.

So far, Alex has been responsive to every question I have had. i do alot via email and he has responded within a day. Given his responsiveness and pride regarding his products I suspect no future problems. I have not had problems so I am rating this with a 9 since a certain part of this area is untested.

I have been playing 36 years and have played professionally although now I am a professional in both medical and legal fields. This is a beautiful and unique guitar that is user friendly. I love it! For rock music I have played and own Les Pauls, Strats, Guilds, PRS, Charvel, Peavey, Gretsch, Music Man, Heritage 150 and this is my choice for my player guitar. I use a PRS McCarty Hollow Body for Jazz and mellow sounds. I also love the Gibson 335 and still switch back between the Zachary and the 335 (I own 2).
This is a must own guitar. I intend to eventually buy 3 of these beauties. The only addition I can think of is a RCM pickup to use it with a Roland GR-30 synthesizer. I have not spoken to Alex at Zachary about this possibility. Check out the Zachary website for a look at his inventory.
