The Japanesse made Greco Zemaitis GZ-2880IFS looks a bit like a les paul but is so different in many respects. It a solid mahogany body with a wide thin set neck (25inch scale with 22 frets)and diamond markers. It has 3 single coil dimarzio pups set in a strat configuration with 5 way switching and a separate phase toggle contolled by 1 vol and 2 tone knobs. It looks brilliant - the inlays and duralumin pup surrounds and tail and bridge are superb. The scaller tuners are relatively precise.

I bought it it 'cos I can't play strats and wanted a bit of the out of phase sound for reck, reaggae, funk and blues which I can't get with my beautiful heritage 535. I use it with my mesa boogie tremoverb or my nomad. This is a really flexible guitar,it can do srv, chic, clapton but has a sound all of its own, both dark and bright depending on how you use the conventional tones with the phase switch. It won't do that fat humbucker sound, but that was never my intention for it.

Perfect straight out of the box ! Never had to touch it. The action is fantastic and the neck a delight to play. machine heads could be smoother.

I've had it a month and it has performed well at every gig. I played it through a fender deluxe solid state one night and it sounded great. Its not often you can buy a guitar mail order and you don't have to touch it. I got it sent from Japan and it looks, sounds and plays the biz. No wonder guitarists who own the real thing rave about the original zemaitis if this tribute guitar is anything to go by.

Dunno. I got sent from Japan so it would cost an arm and a leg to send it back from blighty.

Been playing 35years, own tele plus deluxe with whammy, heritage 535, heritage jazzbox, 80's schecter strat, US '89 tele, boogie tremoverb, boogie nomad. I love everything about the GZ - I wish I had the money for an original Z but, all things considered, this is great value for money, a players guitar and it looks fantastic.

This is the Greco Zemaitis GZ series, black, all mahogony, solid body les paul shape with diamond fret markers and the diamond abalone inlay. It has three single? coil dimarzio pickups, a five way switch, 1 volume and 2 tone pots. It also has a phase switch which gives the guitar at least seven tone options. The duralumin bridge, tailpiece and pick up surrounds and the abalone markers make this a beautiful guitar to look at and the factory set up was perfect straight out of the box. The neck is 25 inch scale with 22 medium jumbo frets - no fretless wonder this. I guess you could call it a wide thin neck with an ebony fret board and scahller machine. It is a great looking guitar

I've just got it so hasn't been out of the house just yet. However, I plugged it in to my Mesa nomad 100 and let rip using the same settings as I use for my heritage 535. I'm not a strat man, and increasingly, not a solid body fan, yet this guitar has a lot of character for the rnb, blues and soul and rock that I play. It has a very bright sound, like a strat, but with more grit. The five way switch allows for all the usual tones and there is a "2 tone" switch, which when in the forward position and the master toggle set between the bass and middle switch, means that a dobro like tone is available.
It doesn't do a deep rich rhythm like my 535 yet that strat like qualities seem eminently usable.

I've only played for 3 hours now but have put it through all of my tests and it a really playable instrument. All my best guitars have taken around 7-10 years to get the kind of tonal melloness that i like and I reckon this one will get there. The build is quality is excallent for the money
