This is a very unique one- and there's 120 built only.An extravaganza of shape, colours, technical design, and sounds. It starts with somewhat like a better shaped PRS , but it goes beyond that.To judge the looks, you must visit the website, it`s impossible to describe that. Some blogs criticized: the pierced headstock design, the extensive abalone neck inlay ("Hydra/celtic dragon"),and -with regards to the pricing- the top for being maple veneer instead of the massive maple layer being visible, the pickups for not being well known top brand. I gave it a try, and now I disagree with all these critics.
Solid Korina body, with solid maple layer and quilted maple veneer top (bookmatched),burst finish in very lively colours ( top side only, otherwise black). Set maple neck ( 648mm scale, 24 frets, rosewood fretboard with massive abalone inlay and black bindings, ergonomic neck joint design.Overall length 94 cm. Grover lock tuners, roller bridge,Wilkinson VS100 Trem (Gotoh),
2 passive Kammerstein Quadrail Custom pickups, 1 volume pot, 1 tone pot (10nF),a 3way switch and a tap pot for both pickups with marked mid pos.All metal parts incl. the humbucker frames are chromed. Marvel Straplock System. Comes with a hardshell case, hex key, polishong cloth ,standard cable & individual certificate (

Tested with a Marshall JMP1 and a Mesa Studio Preamp into a Marshall 8008 without any FX
The wood and the construction deliver what they???re supposed to : a well-balanced sound and good sustain.
Each ???humbucker??? has 4 blade coils and ceramic magnets. They look like xxxl output- monsters with a one way ???Clubemalldead??? sound, but the output is just high, not extreme. The variety of sounds is remarkable . In all positions, the pickups are noieseless and have, to my ears, a slightly raw attitude- I always associate that to ceramic magnet pickups (think Duncan SH-6 or DiM Super Distortion). But these are not ???distortion pickups???, they???re clearer an more precise .??? Humbucker mode???(=all 4 coils of one pickup) delivers humbucker style meat with a bottom that???s not much too fat, a lot of midrange punch and some good (not screaming) highs, topped with a nice brillace. The ???humbucker??? has some ???between Duncan SH3 and SH-6??? feel and ??????split mode??? ( = singlecoil sized humbuckers = no hum) delivers a Strat/Tele ??? evoking twang. All the sounds are always clearly defined (even with the Boogie on fat lead) .These sounds will cut through every mix and ensemble sound. The tap pot is meant to seamlessly glide from ???Single Coil??? to ???Humbucker??? (both pups untapped in the marked middle pos.), gradually ???fattening up??? the pickup. It works fine with the bridge pup , but not that much for the neck pup ???I guess, the the pot has not the proper characteristics for that use. And for a quick change, the pot is only second best, a pushpot or a 5 way switch would do faster, yet giving away that possibility of in-between-sounds . The tone pot is 10nF only and works evenly (a rare thing!). Using this doesn???t switch over to a completely different sound as the usual ones do, but smoothly softens the pickup sound selected. Very useful to ???warm up??? the pup and get closer to a PAF style sound. It takes some time to make friends with the handling of the controls, but the more I use them , the more I like them. The sounds do not copy a Strat, Gibson PAF etc. (only originals sound like the originals ) , but they can remind a lot of them ,with an added flavour of their own (mainly some bite and definition). This is neither a dedicated disortion screamer nor a vintage guitar but it can go anywhere from the blues to shred . It???s modern and versatile. And it???s fun!

This beauty is in fact a as gorgeous as the website pics show (mine being even nicer!).An almost perfect piece of work. I felt at home insantly. Enough of quality wood for a strong tone, slim and light enough for longtime playing. The neck has a somewhat LP feeling. The setup was 100% adjusted to my demands before delivery. The Wilkinson works easily and perfectly. This could only be topped by a (not yet existing?)convertible version.

Perfectly built, quality wood and hardware ??? no evil surprises to be expected.
I do not exactly like the built-in jack type (contacts might becoming unstable on day) and the 3way switch type(might become noisy one day), but they're the same types and quality as in most comparable guitars and cause no problems yet.
I'd gig without a backup (but would like having another one anyway).

I asked for lots of information, for special strings and a special setup, even for a special finish shade (a brighter green) . Frank answered and delivered it all, in no time, free of charge, with a free return in case I didn???t like it.This can`t be topped .

30 years of playing, buying, selling gear... blues-rock, hard&heavy, progressive, some old school metal. This axe does it all, not in a pure vintage sense but in its own way.
I got one. I???ll keep it. And I dream of having the money to buy another one ( and put in vintage style PAFs, thus surely competing with the LP/PRS sounds league).

Hmmm, where to start... There's just so many features so I'll breifly go through some of them. The website, zerberusguitars.com, has all the details so check it out.
Some of the main features are neck thru, solid korina body, with about a 3/4" maple top and very nice finish. I got transparent black flame-top and it's killer. They use quality hardware such as grover locking tuner machines and it even comes with marvel strap locks! Has a rosewood fingerboard with and incredible real abalone inlay. Passive Kammerstien pickups which you must go to the website to see the true potential of this thing. The pickups are a H/H setup in a sense... just go to the website. I could go on and on but Frank has an excellent write for the Hydra II on the website.

Truly an amazing sounding guitar, very unique and incredibly versatile. If you looked at the website you'll better understand this part.
Because of the pickup design you can get the brilliant cleans of a strat, the legendary Les Paul chunk and rhythm feel, the smooth and shimmering leads of a PRS Custom 22 with Dragon II pickups, and the screaming highs of a Caparison. Pretty much anything you want you can get it out of this guitar, and every sound has a little something extra from this guitar.
I own a few guitars myself, and a few more to come soon. Some of which include a Jackson Soloist SLSMG with EMG 81/85, Gibson Les Paul Standard with EMG 81/85 (I would've kept the original pickups but they were becoming intermittent and I had a set of EMG sitting on the shelf collecting dust), an early Caparison TAT, and now the Hydra II. As for other gear, I own a Genz-Benz El Diablo 100 head, 2 212 G-Flex cabs (great cabs), a Randall RM4, BBE Sonic Maximizer, TC Electronics G-Major, VHT 2/50/2, Monster and Furman power conditioners, and a couple pedals and such. My room mate has another Les Paul standard , Schecter Jeff Loomis 7 string, and Peavey 5150 212. So between us we got a good selection of gear and so far the Hydra is at the top.

When I received the guitar it was in excellent condition. Came with a hardshell case, polishing cloth, and even a certificate of ownership! It was packed very well and very clean. I let the wood adjust to the climate before I made any changes to the action and setup although when it got here it played great, but after a couple days there was a bit of change and personally I like to sacrifice a little bit of fret buzz for action, not too much though. I'm still in the process of fine tuning the setup but so far it is great.
The guitar really is something else, the neck has a bit of a Les Paul or PRS feel and is consistent through out. The maple top is pretty much perfectly book matched and has a great finish.

I have only had the guitar for a few days now but I think I can say that this guitar will last a lifetime. Everything is very solid, feels and looks great, and you can tell that Frank and his team take great attention to detail.
Even in the event that something were to happen or go wrong, Zerberus guitars has outstanding customer service. For example, as they are a new company, and you cannot get Zerberus products at most, if not all, music stores you have to order from the website. I'm not to particularly fond of buying a product, especially a guitar, without first seeing it in flesh and trying it out. After much research and review I contacted Zerberus and have been chatting with Frank for a couple months now and he is great. He really goes out of his way for you. After talking to him about a possible order and the fact of ordering a guitar online he informed me that if I did not like it for some reason he would be more than willing to give full refund and pay for the return shipping! WOW.

As I have only had the guitar for a few days I can't say to much about repairs, warranty, etc. But just inquiring about some of the guitars and asking quite a bit of questions Frank was more than polite and informative when replying, and he always replied within the next day or so. Even small things like letting me know of a new guitar he was working on, new website pages, etc, makes all the difference. Frank is awesome and he really strives for customer satisfaction!

At first I was skeptical on purchasing this guitar, but after reading some reviews and more so talking with Frank, I felt very confident in making this purchase. Since I have received the Hydra II I haven't put it down, its such an amazing guitar, a true work of art. I've been playing about 7 or so years now, currently going to school for music production/sound engineering, I have pretty descent start to my collection of guitars and gear, or so I'd like to think, and I've been a few bands over the years.
This guitar is the single, greatest purchase I have ever made! Great value for the money, and its so damn versatile. I love it and if I ever get an endorsement one day I hope its from Zerberus!
