Casio HZ-600

pretty easy to use of course not analog stule.there is a parameter diagram on board.a large encoder drives you trough the menu to make settings.only dco filter amp settings.pretty easy and very good entry level to programming synths,attack,decay,cutoff,resonance,e.t.c.very limited presets.not a proffesional synth dispite the size.

8 voices,not to good kbrd action,only chorus but good sounding,no expansion capabilities and no storage unless you have external card which you cannot find on market or second hand.No sequencer.

the on board sounds are not as good as now days synths.i think that this instrument could fit to a teenagers rock band who just have fun.not for pro works.

very stable and reliable.i think it could work for years.

i bought it just for understanding the basic principals of sound synthesis and practing on it.It is my first musical instrument and i learned playning keys on it something that is really good for, full size keys.Now i ve connect with the computer and i am using it as a keyboard controller for soft synths.i dont think that it could stand as the main synth in a proffesional work, and i dont know if it could stand in a proffesional work at all.

The presets suck...but the effects make up for it. As far as editing patches...it once again sucks!!! I personally have had no success with MIDI...if anyone might have info to help please contact me @ even7nc@yahoo.com.

The polyphony is rated at 8, I believe...but it sounds greater with the strings or any sound that isn't accented in the begining...such as fantasy. There are 40 possible presets w/o split...each preset has 31 diffrent wave forms. Thats 1240 sounds w/o split. With split this keyboard has a possible 1540 presets...each which can be tinnkered with 19 different effects!!

The instruments sound like a middle school band...with a cold. But again the effects make up for it. If a band plays lead melodies with the deck than we really do know that music is corprate based.

With the type of music that i'm trying to introduce to the world (that would be nice) the casio hz-600 may not be the best deck i own but will have it's home on my rack. All cover as well as original songs will have this keyboard's tone layered somewhere in them.

I've tried surfing the web to locate RAM cards for this thing...but have had no success...if anyone has a link that could aid in my search..please take the time to contact me!!!

For the money the keyboard sure beats anything else out there if you know how to use it. The keyboard was designed to be a "sound filler", not as a main deck. Playing while doing effects with the wheel could actually spawn a new form of music...please god!!!

The presets sound thin. If you got some good effects you better use them. Programming is a breeze though and you can come up with something usable, maybe?

Decent polyphony for an 80's beast, 8 to be exact. No velocity is the big downer here. RAM card slot, don't know where you'll find any of the RAM cards though. It's got midi. A great keyboard to start learning how to program sounds since it is very simple.

The sounds are bad! Program some of your own and run it through some effects and you'll be happy. For the price you can't expect to much.

Good for what I paid, $129. I got it with a stand and a little Crate amp though, so it was a good deal. If it's cheap buy it.

Very easy

Keyboard is pretty terrible, only chorus, has an expansion card slot. Keyboard has no aftertouch, velocity or any other extras. No sequencer.

Sounds are all very cheesy. Needs to be put through a lot of external effects. Mod wheel is its best asset. You can set it in position as it's not sprung loaded.

You have to remember to turn the auto power off every time you switch it on. It uses a horrible 9v wall wart. You have to select a patch before an external device will respond to the keyboard. This of course sends out a patch change.
