Ease of Use : 8
I had a little trouble getting the sysex over to my Fizmo. I had to use an ASR-X Pro to send the data over.

Features : 10
64 patchs in sysex format. You should be able to use anything that can
load standard midi files. The Ensoniq MR/ZR series will NOT do it. Most any thing else will.

The sound set is a "meat and potatoes" blend for the musician that
needs standard basses, pads, analog emulations and distorted textures.
If you dig the sound of a software virtual analog synth
(like AS-1, MetaSynth etc.), than this will be sonically familiar.

Expressiveness/Sounds : 10
The sound set starts with a retro sounding lead that almost has a
"violin" like attack the harder you attack the keys. Very expressive.
When you are done with your synth lead solo, turn the F knob to get a
forever decaying delay.

Patch #2 is equally expressive. If you do not turn the knobs or check
the modwheel, you WILL miss out on additional sound variations.
This simple bass now turns into a sub bass by turning the F knob or
pushing up the mod wheel.

As I move on there happens to be some sounds I've always wanted.
Some distorted or overdriven bass or lead sounds
(like patches 5, 9 and 10). I truly cannot explain patch #5.
Played in the lower octave it is a kind of raunchy, rezzy bass and
in the upper registers it is more like a lead. Play that sound into
your sequencer with some quick arppeggiated notes and push up the mod
wheel. It gets extra nasty, just what you need when looking for that
distorted edge. Mmm, maybe that sound goes to 11? (It's a Spinal Tap thing!)

Patches 7 and 8 give you some familiar pulsing and moving textures
that you might have expected from the Fizmo Factory presets. But,
keep in mind that this sound set is dedicated to the "meat & potatoes"
of synth sounds. For the first time (with Fizmo) you will be
experiencing sounds that are more traditional than experimental.

Fizmo. That word has caused a storm of controversy from the day it was
uttered in the halls of Ensoniq Corp. Fizmo (origin of the word is still unknown?)
has been under fire from anyone that has heard it to the people that
designed it. Not knowing what exactly it is?, some say a Nord Lead
follow up and some say the ultimate analog/digital synth.
I say it's wacky and cool, a little of the unexpected.

The thing that makes any keyboard great is its sounds.
Fizmo's original sound set was wild, crazy and definitely "Fizmo".
But, there are lots of things that Fizmo is capable of.
Craig Snoke (Ex sound developer for Ensoniq Corp) has tapped into the
heart of Fizmo to bring out the most exciting sound set to date for
Fizmo.

I think it is a fantastic value not only because it is the ONLY new
sound set professionally made for Fizmo, but because the sounds are
just plain great. If you own a Fizmo, I think you NEED these sounds!
