Hammond-Suzuki XM-2

I have had this module for a day so I'm not submittting a complete review at the moment.

I just wanted to make a comment on the previous review. It complains about its having midi cc# 11 expression response rather than midi cc#7 response (volume)

This is because the module is not a general midi module, it's an organ.
The original Hammonds had very special tonal expression circuitry that responded to the 'expression' footpedal. This B-3 in a box does exactly the same thing, and therefore responds to expression messages.
If you really can't send midi cc# 11 and are stuck with cc#7 then for a relatively small cost you can use a midi in-line Midi Solutions ( midisolutions.com ) Event Processor than will convert your 7 message to 11. The module is so good that it would be a shame to deny yourself the delights of its sounds for the sake of this extra cost. It might though be a good thing if in the module's firmware there was a way of converting 7 to 11.

Easy to use. Presets sound good. You must learn to set up the leslie so that you can change speeds.

This is a module. Most modules are designed to be used with a midi controller. This unit does not respond to the volume controller standard on midi controllers. The only other module that I have owned that did not respond to midi volume was the Voce Micro B and this was corrected on the Micro BII. This module receives volume control data on controller 11. They call it expression. They recommend that you buy their pedal. I did not buy the pedal. I just returned the unit. Hope they make the cord for the pedal long enough to extend from the rack location to the floor. By the way I presently own the following modules and they all respond to volume control from my midi controller. Korg X5DR, Korg Triton Rack, Motif Rack, Kurzweil PC2r rack, Micropiano rack, EX8000, Matrix 1000, SC880 and on and on. What sense does it make to produce and sell a midi rack module that does not respond to the midi volume standard?

The unit sounds better than everything that I have owned except for my old B3 and 122. I have owned voce products and the original Korg CX3. The unit is fantastic except for the midi volume issue

Promised to solve the midi volume issue but did not do so. Waiting to hear from Japan. But it is too late I returned the module.

I have been playing for 45 years. I have just about owned everything in Keyboards over those years. I do not understand why this unit does not respond to the midi volume controller standard. Its suppose to be a midi module!!!!
