Bought the 01/W fd only a few months ago & it's already becoming my favourite Keyboard. If you've used an M1, the ease of use is second nature with maybe a few added features, If you familiar with Tinity onwards Korg boards as am I, well...it's all there if you want to start dissecting & tweaking sounds etc, just less visably easy to access (less flash). I'm only just getting into SysEx downloads using MIDIOX & there's such a wealth of extra sounds & patches out there, it's almost impossible to be lost for inspiration. The presets have literally floored me to be honest. I owned an M1 many years ago & opted for a Trinity as an upgrade (bypassing the 01/W). The Trinity was a different Animal & I kinda missed the M1 for it's (hugeness...sonically). Well I've now (17 years late) discovered the missing link. This board is huge sounding, sonically the loudest & warmest synth I own. The pads are Lush, Strings majestic & I feel like I have a board that once again displays personality rather than just an infinite amount of lifeless patch libraries for your buck.

Features : 8
Keyboard action is a little on the heavy side as mine's more than likely suffering from a few slower keys. I couldn't tell you which they are, you just get a delayed sensation when playing through certain passages. Probably down to age & wear 'n' tear from the previous owner. Effects are great albeit slightly limited when sequencing to the overall song. The Trinity (for eample) has Insert effects you can apply to individual tracks whereas this only has Master present (I think?). Still capable of producing some great song ideas though with an easy to use sequencer. Expansion...well SysEx is my new (old) best friend & I'm having a ball.

Expressiveness/Sounds : 9
Korg Piano's have never been a strong point (although my SP100 sounds non too shabby) & here, well they cut through well in a live mix but I'd use other boards today probably. As previously mentioned, Pads/Strings, & especially the Combi sounds are lush. Sonically huge/wide/big soundscapes etc... I'm really rediscovering why I liked synths (M1 being my introduction) in the first place with this after spending years playing mostly piano & string sections.

Reliability : No Opinion

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 9
If stolen, I'd sell a kidney to have another...I also own boards by KORG, ROLAND & ENSONIQ and this sits up there with my most played on at present for one reason or other. The backlights dimming & it's not showroom quality but I'd be lost without it in my live arsenal at present. It's a big sounding synth & I'm only just belatedly getting to grips with it.

Well..im having this KB for one year.
The presets are pretty cool..i used it in Death metal, cover band, progressive rock...everywhere you can use something else, create your own combinations.
Its not so hard to edit some patches...or create new sounds.
Manual?
I have it but i never use it...
Only one thing that - i think - is not so good is SQ.

Features : 8
Hmm...i think that polyphony is not so good...maybe if it will be 64 it will be better. Cause when you are using combinations, is really hard when you want live play 6 or 7 tones...
There are cool efects..i like distortion on organ sounds, halls, reverbs, delays..its cool...and its pretty easy to use.
Dunno anything about cards / i havnt one!!!/ memory or something...
Just DD mechanic. I hate it because i cant backup my sounds or something in PC...or if you know how, tell me it please ;-)
Sequencer is for me fuckin bad..im using ACID 3 in computer /not with midi cables but with audio cables/ when i wanna record some music.

Expressiveness/Sounds : 9
Instruments are cool..i was excitened with them when i played it first time ... and im excitened still with strings /love it/ hammond and organ sounds.../try combination A11 i think - its called NOTRE DAME...what do you think? :-D/
so for rock its cool..for metal too /program A64 - dunno how its called now...for speed metal in monophony cool sound!!!!/
velocity and aftertouch? hmm..if you want cool piano aftertouch buy piano.

Reliability : 8
hmm...
im using it on gigs without backup every saturday.
Having NO problems with it.
Only one - when i gotta change one key ... but i have friend who knows how it works inside so i havent problems.
Joystick?? One time i had problem with it but i reapaired it myself.
I havent problems with it on gigs never.
Buttons? you can reapair them too.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I dont know about that. When i have a problem just having some phonecalls to friends or searching on internet.

sequencer is very easy not hard at all with the quantization, the presets i thought were kinda of week korg obviously was lazy with the bass sounds...not enuff "oomph" but some of the pads were great, choir,
and bowwow were my fav...editing is easy not really a big difference
when you tweek out the wave shaping........i have never seen the manual i learned how to use this baby all by mind......

Features : 8
the keyboard action is highly great...the effects are especially a bonus since i dont have to use my preset effects processor...the midi is slightly powerfull although i have it controling an Ensoniq esq1
and a boss dr660 just for the sound banks .........the keys are kinda noisy and stupid im sure everyone who owns this werkstation knows the famous "sticky keys" take a blow dryer to it it helps...........

Expressiveness/Sounds : 5
some of the guitar sounds are kinda fragile...but the strings and all of the analog sounds are the far most cool ones i use...its great for making Industrial music, power noise, dance, synthpop,Ethereal, and alot of break beat, the onboard effects are capable but not really state of the art ne more...velocity is something i always get frustrated with so cant say how great or bad it is........

Reliability : 4
ive had a 12 volt cable replaced inside of it which was only 90$
And all of the buttons were repalced with new ones only 250$
i can depend on it know that is up and running and loving the power....ive played live with it....it was no trouble me at all...people loved the way it sound.......

Customer Support : No Opinion
korg doesnt help for shit..they are friendly but if you are seeking repair or any related customer support your best bet would be the internet

ive been playing the 01/w for about two years..i use it with a Ensoniq
ESQ1,boss Dr660 drum machine,a Roland alpha juno1,boss dr202 groove box,Boss sp303 sampler, korg DW6000,yamaha/rm1x sequencer, and a Roland XP60 workstation,it all mixes threw a beringher eurorack into a mini disk deck which is coneected to a cd burner....if this thing was stolen i would get a better workstation although this is my first one i would cry if were stolen...it definitley helps me make the most complex musiq...i love my sequencer!!!!!!

Ease of Use : 9
First, i own an 01w/fd since april of 1991, so today (august of 2004) i can speak very widely about it.
I think the 01w is one of the most easy synth of use. The patching, and combi making is really easy, and the secuencer is very user friendly, very much easy of many todays synth secuencers.
The sound programing is easy too (assuming you know some about moving parameters)... easy of programming do not mean you know how programming sounds... so no mater what synth do you have, in order to program new goods sounds you must to have, at least, some good ear...

I rarely use the manual, because the synthe was easy to use, however, the manual is well redacted and explained...

Features : 9
The polyphony is 32, so for that days was very nice... not matter that you can make very complex secuences if you know how to get the most of that 32 notes...
The keyboard action is pleasable, semiweighted, feels very good and is responsive. It has 47 onboard effects, very good capable and very low noise for the effects. Really good. The distorion in conjuntion with electric guitars patches sounds very very well. Impresive distorted guitar.. one of the best.
The expansion capabilites are good: one slot for PCM and one slot for memory cards, and the floppy disk allowe you to store easy all the synth memory (all sounds, combis, sec and system)... if haves only two files in the disc File A and File B, so you can only have only two times all them memory, or only two times all the secuencer... a litte primitive for today satandars but useful and effective...
The midi capabilities are well. I have used as master keyboard for controlling a few synths and modules for secuencing and worked flawlessly, i have dumped full secuences form 01 to Ensoniq SD1 and worked perfectly... The keyboard is only aftertouch, however it responds to incoming data with polyaftertouch capabilities. There is no portamento
As i said, the secuencer (used for me around 10 years is useful, easy, intuitive and friendly... i have made around 1000 secuences on in!)

In its time, its features was top of the line

Expressiveness/Sounds : 9
Well this is more subjective area, but i will tell my opnion.
I think the 01w is one of the best sounding Synths... even for todays standars.
First lets say i will try to make and objetive judgement of the sounds. I have an JV2080, a Karma, a D4, a DX7s a P250 and i have widely used the Triton, K2500s, N364, the XP80, M1, SY77, QS8.1,Proteus and some vintage as Juno106, Juno Alpha, DX21. So i think i have many referencials.
First i think many of the sounds are really realistic and impresive, even for todays standars. I liked very much the Trumpet, Oboe, Piano and the strings (in general)
The piano is very good (much better than my Karma) of course is not better than an expansion on the triton, or in JV2080, less than my P250, but is really good. In that times, noone synth matched.
The strings are very good, especially the sounds like "The Strings", more warm pads like "Analog Pad" or "Sad Strings" was really good too, but sometimes the loop is noticeable.
I especially like the brasses... maybe alone there are not really impressive... but combined i was able to obtain the better brass patches today. The secret for 01 brasses are in the patching. I play in a musicial grupo for parties, weedings, etc... so here in north of mexico the "cumbia" style is full of brass and i was able to get from the 01, the better brasses for that kind of music.
Pads are really good too.
Well but what the 01 can't do well is the modern sounds like generated by triton, or JV, XV, i mean the new electronic sounds.
I think it works really well for all kind of music, except dance, techno and that, but if you are on folclorical, orchestral, pop, jazz, i think the 01 stands for itsel even today.
The effecs are very good and without being a lot, you have variety at your dissposal.
The sound capabilities are inmense, and wisely used it is a very powerfull machine.

Reliability : 10
I think i have the same problems with the 01 as other musicians with it.
First let say that the weak point in the Kork M, T, N and 0 series was the buttons, with the pass of time it start to malfunction, becoming hard to use.
Other thing is the loss of contrast on the screen (large screen).
Very minor problem for mi is the sticky keys (only two keys since 1991)
That are the problems but the buttons are easyly solutionable. Any electronic repair can do it or even yourself (i have made it 2 times... but disarming the 01 to get the switches and keys is a REALLY PAIN!!!).
In the other hand there are good thinks like the joystick, it is flexible, well done (not as M1 stick) and worked flawesly. The data and volume sliders.... i think is made with NASAs technology, it have been never failed, not even any kind of noise or jumping.

The construction is ig quality, the anodized black aluminiun is beautifull. In fact the 01 is one of the most estetically beautiful synthes... (nobody will let me lie on this). The keys, and the machine are very reliable.

I think that is importan the maintenance after some years of use... and is logical... you can't expect a car lives forever without support.

For conclude, i will tell you i have constantly used and ABUSED this baby. I have used on many many gigs, in my home studio, in somebodys studio, in rehersal.. etc..etc... many times un sunlight (here the average heat is 45? Centigrados in summer, so is a LOT LOT of heat), in windy and dusty conditions, in light drizzle, in unreliable AC conditions.... many things that happen with the years, and i will proudly say, my 01 never, never have failed me, not even one time.
It had never let me down.
For that i give a 10

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never used.

Overall Rating : 10
Well i will telll that this machine inspirative and helpfull for making musica. Back in 1991 was like a incredible fountain for sounds and powerfull workstation, today it stadns for it self. I use a PC for secuencer and i use the 01 for sounds i like. I have an Alesis D4, Yamaha DX7s, Yamaha Digital Piano P250, Kork Karma and a Roland JV2080 and the 01 has gained a permanent place in the recording setup.

I have playing the 01 for 13 years and is a lovely, reliable a powerfull machine. You cant go wrong with this if you are looking for a that time synth.

If stolen it would be a high pain for me (because my 01 is almost in mint condition), but definitevily will seek for other.

Of course, i will never sale it...

Ease of Use : 8
The 01 is a pretty easy synth to use. This was my first ever synthesizer way back in 1996 and it only really took me a few days to work out the basics of the sequencer, but I personally found that programming custom sounds was much more difficult, until recently. It also took me a little longer to transcend from simply using the sequencer to producing better sounding, finished music.

The factory presets are generally very good. One of my favourite sounds from day one (and forever will be) is A27: Analog Pad. What a cool string sound! I've heard this in movie soundtracks, pop tunes, dance tunes, everywhere... and I really love it and use it in 99 percent of my works.
Over time I have learnt to live with the acoustic piano sound although it isn't particularly good for doing serious piano pieces. It's OK for dance music when you're only playing very short chords but sustained chords sound too static after the initial attack of the sound. In short, the 01 excells at pads and synth sounds, basses are perhaps a little too weak/lack expressiveness for my personal tastes, and solo/melody sounds aren't overly impressive for the sort of work I produce. Until I started to buy other synths for the studio I simply learnt to live with this though and did end up making some interesting sounding compositions. It should be stressed however that this only applies to working in sequencer mode when the effects must be stretched over all 16 tracks. In Combi mode, all sounds are very good. As a performance synthesizer the sound is unbeatable in the main.

As regards the manual I've never really used it. I do have the original manual but after five minutes of reading I normally just get bored and follow my instincts and just experiment. I did, however manage to find out from the manual how to have automatic tempo changes during the run of a recorded file.

Features : 10
The synth has 32 notes poly, which has never been a problem to me, even when layering two lots of pads and having thick textured drums and solos over the top. It features a 61 note velocity sensitive and aftertouch keyboard. I find that the aftertouch is very light, and usually adds an accidental nuance to my performances.

Built in effects are generally very good, and the 01 features a set of 47. These range from your usual 'bread and butter' effects algorithms such as reverb, chorus and delay, to other effects such as enhancers and distortion. I tend to stick to reverb and chorus most of the time as these are usually musically most appropriate. The effects excel in program and combi mode, but falter - like all Korg workstations until recently - in sequencer mode. If you want distortion on Track 1, it means you must have no effect, or distortion on all other tracks in the performance. This is also why once using the sequencer you are really limited to using reverbs, choruses, and possibly delays but even these have a habit of muddying any drum sequences unless used sparingly.

Expansion capabilities that I am aware of on the 01/w are program/combi boards which add a further 200 progs/combis at any one time. Unfortunately these cards are no longer commercially available and can only be bought from third party owners.

I won't pretend to know lots about the MIDI specification on the 01/w, but I imagine from briefly examining the implementation charts in the manual that the 01 is capable of performing a sizeable amount of functions. I generally tend to use the 01 as a master keyboard and have a second keyboard linked up. Using Track 1 on the sequencer, I set the signal to external so that anything recorded on that track will trigger the tone generator of the external synth.

Which brings me nicely onto the sequencer functionality. I personally hate computers taking on the role of a MIDI sequencer when hardware units are perfectly capable of handling recording needs in house. The real-time sequencer features useful punch in-out, overdub and loop functions as well as quantize, copy and move. Editing data on the 01 is a bit like editing text in a text editor. The sequencer also allows you to copy effects from combis and programs, and you can also copy an entire combi to either tracks 1-8 or 9-16. Powerful stuff! My only gripe here once again is the lack of insert effects.

Expressiveness/Sounds : 8
For expressiveness to the max, the combis are what you need to use on the 01, and use the 01 as a performance synthesizer. Featuring velocity switching in combi mode, it is possible, by playing at different velocities to have two totally different sounds available at any one time. The best combis that use this feature are the orchestral and jazz 'hits'. The 'Orchestra' combi is remarkably realistic. Synth sounds such as 'Steam & Res' are hugely impressive and the distorted guitar sound for 'Whammy & Pad' is probably the most realistic distorted electric guitar I've ever heard on any synthesizer to date.
Many of the single programs, however are generally much more bland (although not all). Pad sounds and synth sounds are interesting enough, but the usual acoustic, brass and woodwind sounds are, to be fair a tad boring, particularly in sequencer mode when the gloss of the effects is lost. From day one I was always disappointed with the acoustic piano sound. I learnt to work with it after a while but even with today's modern instruments from Korg, I still believe that Yamaha and Roland keyboards are far better for acoustic piano sounds. Electric piano sounds on the other hand, are very good.
I did, however find a workaround for some types of synth sound. The WaveShaping (WS) algorithm can be used to add a similar bite to a sound as can be experienced on the Yamaha DX7. WS amount can be assigned to velocity so that the harder you play the notes, the more WS will sound. This is very useful for slap bass sounds for example.

As I briefly mentioned above, the 47 onboard effects are generally very good, and particularly effective when used in program and combi mode, but rather less versatile when in sequencer mode because there are no insert effects and all tracks must have the same effect or no effect at all.

It is the effects that prevent some of the sound from being static. As far as my experience goes, almost all PCM sample-based instruments are static in some way because of the loop period that comes after the initial attack. Unless a long PCM sample is made, the sound will always be static, and will be most apparent when no effects are in use. Pianos and basses suffer from this most acutely on the 01/w at times. Luckily, chorus can usually be used to cover this up. One salvation for the acoustic piano is that, whether perceived or real, it sounds more realistic if you are playing from an external 88-note weighted master keyboard.

Velocity curves are user adjustable through the Global settings page, and I also believe that this is true for aftertouch. I rarely really use this though so I can't be entirely sure.

Reliability : 6
The 01 is dependable in terms of its heavily built aluminium and steel case, but the keyboard itself is more questionable. I was terribly upset when I realised after only 18 months of light use that some of the black notes were beginning to stick downwards during performance. This therefore creates a constant undercurrent during a live performance 'is that key going to jam again?...' which is not good.

With the former paragraph in mind, I would use the 01 in conjunction with my master keyboard at a gig, but perhaps not alone - specially if I'm playing anything that needs an F sharp!

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've not contacted Korg (as yet) regarding the seemingly famous 'sticky key' problem, although when I mentioned it in a review at another website, a reply from Korg staff resulted where they said that a service could be performed for less than 100 dollars and would permanently cure the problem. Certainly sounds tempting...

Overall Rating : 9
I would be distraught to lose my 01/w. It may seem from the review I have typed here that I have more negative points to make about the 01 than positive, but I have used this synth completely on its own for more than 80 percent of my more serious recordings. I think I probably would buy it again even if it was just to be able to get that Analog Pad sound back again, but I have been able to customise some interesting programs of my own after a few years of patience and working with it.

I currently clock just above 15 years of keyboard playing, for which I have owned the 01 for half of that time. I own too much other stuff to mention but just to name a couple of my rig of nine synthesizers I also frequently use a Yamaha DX7 and I have recently acquired the new microKORG.

What I love about the 01/w is it's built-in sequencer. It really is a miniature studio in a box and it can be used to co-ordinate other synths in a master-keyboard situation - and, dare I say it - means that computers can be left to other duties! I really like the pads and it's ability to sound like a synth, but I found programming to be difficult and unpredictable (although this in itself has yielded a few happy accidents). I have a few dislikes, but I don't think I could hate anything about the 01/w.

Back in 1996, the only other keyboard I compared the 01 to was the i3. Originally I was meant to be getting an i3 but the 01/w came up first and I decided it was better because it was more like a proper professional synthesizer. I found that once I owned the 01, it changed the way I composed forever and now I would never go back to automatic backing arrangements (although I do sometimes use auto drumbeats on their own purely for jamming).

I wish the 01/w's keyboard was the same as the invincible, fluid movement of the - somewhat older - Yamaha DX7!

Does the 01/w help me make music? My gosh I wouldn't be able to make music without it anymore. It really is the studio workhorse. Thank's Korg!

01/Wfd very user friendly, sounds on the strings are very full. For a 11yr old keyboard it still has it's hat in the ring.

Features : 8
The 01/Wfd could use some better keys, action is a little lacking, you might miss some after touch EFX if you don't press hard enough. Expansion capable, however you can't walk into a local store and buy anything for it other than MIDI & patch cables. Online is your best bet. With out a manual it isn't to hard to use MIDI or the sequencer on the 01/Wfd.

Expressiveness/Sounds : 9
the Sounds on the 01/Wfd are easy to change so if it isn't the sound you want you can change it. I agree with one of the other reviewers the strings on this board are the keyboards best sound. If you like writing soundtrack type music this is your board. Rock is not to bad. Most of the effects work well and are easy to change, but don't forget about aftertouch. For my style of play it reacts very well.

Reliability : 10
Every now and then it will come up 99's for all the sound patches but you can reset it without losing original sounds off disk. It however is very reliable. I found out the 99's come from power outages, so if you get a lot of those unplug it when not in use. I got the info on outages from my job I work for the electric company.

Customer Support : 1
As stated earlier use the web- better luck with info. Korg was no help

Ok to some it up I owe out of buissness "Mars Music Inc" a big thanks for selling me the 01/Wfd so cheap in 2001. I would definatly replace this board but I would never get the price I got again. I love the fact that without the manual I was able to use the board fairly easily. It is the only keyboard I own and I can us it as the main board and buy rack mounts now, much cheaper I might add.

Like all romplers from Korg, edition is simple. Only one is not good: "compare" function reverts to first ed. page w/o triggering the new/old parameter's value.
Never use PC editors because i think you should feel the instrument itself.

Features : 8
Polyphony - 32, RAM card/PCMCIA PCM Card/FDD for Prog/Seq/Global.
Key actions - not so good as say Korg M1 or TS10/12, but not bad at all. The joystick - like Roland's junk physically, but better in action. I cannot say why KORG put such joystick in 01/W(Fd) - M1's was far better. Well organized controls w/o exagerrating.
Sequencer is good i think but out of my interest due to PC.
But for idea snapshots - good. And large RAM for events.
At least 5-8 full, well arranged songs can be fitted.
Standard 4 outs. Well known Korg effects, expanded from Korg M/T
but sounds of them have a bit differences in character.
01/WFd have more flat freq. response than M1.
Delay/Chorus/Phaser - very good. Reverb - not bad, compatible with 200-400 USD ext. EFX.
I should say that EFX in Korg (exept of Wavestation clone) always
have good stereobase and depth.

Expressiveness/Sounds : 10
Korg have a very unique sound never reached by Roland-d-d-d or
Alesis or say new metallic backets like poor SW synts in plastic boxes (Nova, OB12/Viscount, e.t.c.).
You can get professional sound from 01/WFd. And for pads - it is
the best. You know about WS pads? Ok, but WS pads have a granularity
(vector 2-axis mixer) and more clear sound (18-bit int, 20 bit D/A converters) while 01/WFd pads just like fatness. I say about selfmaded pathes here. You should not rely to Internet patches - only your hands and brain can help to reach the bottom of any synth.
The acoustic instruments are good. But piano not good as could be.
Get a 01/W Pro. And moreover, all ROM samples sounds good.
Important! 01/Wxxx have a waveshaping function (Roland's attempt - D70
with DLM modulation) and with careful implementation you can get
wide range of sound - from rompler to DX series of Yamaha (yes, some FM feeling), to Waldorf (yes, digital pads).
Korg make synts for 70-80's music, New Age/Rock/Ambient/Orchestral/ and not for dance xxxxxfrenia.
Technical side of sound - typical 16-bit (reality: about 77-80 dB on
internal sine wave, 1000 Hz, w/o EFX).
Overall - if you want have the power (pads and prof. level) of Korg and squeezed in money the 01/W(Fd) - good choice over Trinity/N364/X5D, e.t.c. And sonically in Korg's romplers area only Triton have some advantages.
advantages.

Reliability : 9
Synt's internal engine - it's a Korg.
Only one pain - the controls (the switches are not reliable).

Well, when it was released back in 1991 this was a superb workstation. Today it's still a good sonic workhorse. I bought it second hand, anyway.

Expressiveness/Sounds : 7
Real instruments are not very realistic. I think the best sounds of this digital workstation are probably the synth strings pads. Moreover, I found a lot of free patches on the web (be sure not to miss the ones programmed by Victor Cerullo, which are the best patches I've got for this synthesizer at the moment ).

The price I paid is right. No problems of any kind to report at the moment. Of course I knew what I was going to take, before purchasing the instrument.

Hello. I bought this off ebay about a month ago. This is my first synthesizer. It has software version #39 in it, which is quite old, considering the latest version is 62, but it works well, and I'm happy with it. I think it is really easy to edit anything on this board. The manual is simple to understand if you use your common sense, and manuvering around the board is also. I would call this keyboard the common-sense board, cause if you have that you can't go wrong.

I don't like the 61 plastic feeling keys on this, but their so big which is a plus. They do seem sticky, I play mine quite hard at times and they haven't broke yet.

The effects are awesome once you edit them for each sound to make the sounds sound better.

It has a disk drive, but it only takes Double Density 720kb disk, which sucks for this age because their not so easy to find.

The sequencer is the best thing. You can do so much with it I think.

I'm new to the synthesizer world so I don't know much, but I'm sure this board is awesome if you are a mad man who knows about it.

Alot of the sounds are really good. The brass, some of the acoustic sounding guitars, the strings of course !, and the 16" and 8" piano I enjoy playing, but there are some cheesy astral projection type sounds, ha.

I would say it would work well for any type of genre of music if you know what your doing and how to edit and manipulate the sounds to your liking.

The onboard effects I think are really good. This keyboard I bet is really damn loud if you use it with a amp. I just wear good headphones and I only have the volume up half way and it still sounds so loud to me.

The keys suck on this machine, they react good to velocity and aftertouch but still their so plastic feeling and not trustworthy.

This board does react well to my playing.

This board is buns of steel.
Ya I would use it on a gig if I were touring and knew what I was doing. I don't trust the keys thou.

For the time that this board came out in it must of been the best board of that time, but now it's only of some use in this day and age.

Playing is acceptable, obviusly, not as great as a weigthed 88, but u can play almost any kind of music whit a lot of feeling.

Sounds are not very good, specially pianos and basses. Strings, some organs and brass can be played.

Never had a problem!

If it were stolen, i wouldn't buy a 01w again. My ears can't play it w/o a big lot of feeling, No matter how easy could be to create a sequence. I think sound is more important than the features. Thats why i would preffer a Roland or a Kurzweil. I've been playing for 10 years and i've found in k2500x a better sequencer and realistic sounds, if u have a lot more!
