This absolutely kills every soft synth I own but N.I B4.
I was sick of Soft synths crashing on stage and went total old school, total hardware and I did not have $5000 for a Jupiter and this little box gave me the analog fix but now I want MORE $$$ High end kit.
The other reviews speak to its guts, all I know is it sounds amazing. Iv grown out of VSTi and went all hardware (I user Kore 2 for B4)

Its a module so no sequencer. I use my Ensoniq ASR10 and map out a sequencer track to the EX 8000.

Not a huge amount of features like velocity and after touch. D.Delay is quite nice. I had the Korg Poly 800II and it SUCKED and this EX 8000 sounds much better as the filters are much better.

1985 and working fine. The battery is fine. The phono jacks are OK but cant take abuse like guitar stuff.

um, I fixed my own issue with the buttons not working. This is what you do.
COMPLETELY remove the top and face plate. Use needle nose players and take the caps off the buttons. carefully and forcefully pull out the inner white clips inside the buttons. CAREFUL a little rubber grommet will fly out. REMOVE THEM ALL ALL THE BUTTONS all parts! Spray contact cleaner inside TWICE. Let it dry 40 seconds between spraying. Carefully with a flashlight and small device work the white grommets back 100% correct into the circle inside the buttons. Test press. It working gently put the plastic insert in the switch. Keep cap off switch! You will want to test the fix for a few days. For me a few buttons were not working again and I had to redo the fix stated above. Now all my buttons are spot on perfect! Dont forget if you dont get the white grommits back in PERFECT it will not work that well. Dont use WD40. I dont think they make things this hard core now, I gave a good spray to the knobs and switches also and its perfect man, just perfect and Im no repair guy and did this my self.

Over all it might be said this sounds near a Rolland Jupiter 8 if you make your own patches and use unison mode. It only makes me want a ultra high end analog. I use guitar effects and a sampler pedal to sample and layer sounds. It works great with my ASR10 side by side. I also use a cheap *** midi knob box to make real time controller changes. If you can get one DO IT!

A bit tedious with one parameter at a time editing, but hey, all synths of this era were like that, Otherwise pretty straightforward. Usual parameters like lfo, filter cutoff, etc...

8 voices polyphony, with 2 DCO per voice with 16 waveforms to choose from. Actually these are one cycle digital waveforms with 8 bit resolution (the standard at the time) but even so the unit has a very good s/n ratio. The filters are analog but digitally controlled and there are 8 of them, one for each voice. Not like the Poly800 that has only one filter for all voices. Filters can be made to self oscillate to produce a smooth sine wave.

Typical 8 voice synth from the late '80 and early '90. This is the module version of the DW8000. It is lacking the arpeggiator, but has the digital delay also which was a BIG deal back in 1989!

Bought mine used, but I've had no problems with it. Even the memory back-up battery is still good (maybe it was replaced already?)

This is an underated module. It has a very fat warm analog sound (thanx in part to those marvelous Korg analog filters) and very professional application possibilities. I still use mine for lush pad or strings sounds. It is very close to an all analog synth like the Roland Jupiter8 and has more waveforms and a digital delay onboard.

simple controls, simple parameters...nothing but the most basic midi control. Very Easy.

8 voices, with the fattest unison mode this side of alpha centauri. The keyboard version (dw8000) has a few modded upgrades for it to be multitimbral, I have yet to hear of one for the EX though. No sequencers, this is straight up oldschool, 8 voices in a box, run through a beautiful filter.

Elegant, beautiful, thick, rich, deep, and very very analogue. The 16 (or was it 12) different selectable DIGITAL waveforms are easily undistinguishable from the 'real deal' of VCO's, only because of the rich overlay the VCF's give them. 2 osc's per voice, 8 voices...most of the editable parameters are straight out of 'basic synthesis 101', you don't need to be a genius to master it in no time, but it just keeps on sounding great regardless of what you do!

Great buy, one of the best deals you can get if you want really fat analog sound without paying a fortune for an xpander or a real modular or minimoog etc....
