Ease of Use : 8
This unit is pretty easy to use. I read through the manule before trying to use it and it was relatively comprehensive. There are some things that are not fully covered but can be figured out. This unit has no internal sounds But it does have all the features of the Mc3000 88 key controller. It is not set up to use 110 volt power but a $30 220 converter works perfectly. The edit pages are easy to navigate through and will get easier with time.

Features : 10
This controller has 8 real time assignable sliders and 8 pedals. It can store over 1000 programs that are all fully programable. Some nice options include: The ability to assign 2 midi channels to each zone. This is helpful when using 2 differnt types of keyboards for send midi info. I send my Yamaha P-200 controller on 1 channel that can acess every zone and my 01/W PRO on 8 channels picking only the zone I want.: In each program you can deside weather or not to send program, volume, or controller changes with the patch. This is very helpfull in allowing you to change programs without getting that cut in the sound. ie; If I want to change an effect on a unit I can right a duplicate program that includes the changes but not program or volume. This leaves every value the same eccept the one you want to change.ie; You can also program to change only volume or only one or two zone program changes that come on in mute mode so you are set to change your sound without any dead space in the sound. This unit also has extensive velocity settings, many that are user created. The system exclusive functions are unequaled by any unit I know. You can connect to a unit in and out and the 3000d will memorize the sys exe mesage from whatever change you make then you can use it later like you would use a control change.I havent found a thing you cant do with this controller.

Expressiveness/Sounds : No Opinion
This unit again has no onboard sounds but can control any type of midi gear.

Reliability : No Opinion
Havent had any problems yet but havn't had it long enough to know.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Viscout is acessable by e-mail and I have talked to them about this unit but not enough to rate this catigory.

Overall Rating : 10
I would get another if I had to. It is the center of my midi rig. Befor getting this unit I use a Roland A-70 To controll my rig. This worked very well but I wanted to use the 01W and three boards gets a little cluttered. Plus when I go out I only want to take one board;P-200 for its feel, sound, and on board sterio speekers. They add great presence and vibration to the board. With this controller I can take all wy sound mdules also.( Alesis nano piano, Kursweil micro piano, Roland JV 1010, Korg NX5R, and GEM Real Piano Expander) This unit is alittle hard to get .Armadillo enterprizes,Who brings Oberhein to the USA Will not import this unit. I ordered it from a place in the UK called Turnkey.
