Ease of Use : 8
What first drew my attention to this 61 key keyboard were the nine organ drawbars (flutes), percs (Click, 5 1/3, 2 1/3), motion effects - which taken together generally mean serious organ. But the keyboard is much, much more.

While it does very serious organ it also sports a 168 of the finest sounding samples ingeniously organized into five sections? flutes (organ), solo instruments (horns, saxes, etc.), poly 1, poly 2, and bass. Each section has its own volume, chorus, sustain, and octave settings.

Solo section has 168 voices available, 28 preset sounds, 28 user sounds, poly/mono setting (for single note realism in reproducing certain instruments), and portamento.

The Poly sections offer and available 168 voices, 42 presets and 42 user sounds.

Organ section provides unlimited variation via the drawbars plus 4 factory presets and 4 user set-ups.

Bass section provides for 8 presents and 8 users settings with the usual 168 voice availability.

These sections are organized under Orla?s Conductor pad. Conductor allows simultaneous mixing, etc. of each section. Mixing voices from various sections with various levels, effects, etc. makes for incredible versatility and interest. I?ve put together some of the best horn & sax sections, jazz organ patches, strings and piano? options are limitless.

All this sounds complicated but the keyboard layout is so well organized and easy to understand I was up and running in no time.

Instruments are very realistic - some of the best I've heard.

Reliability : 10
This board is ruggedly built and has a good quality feel all around. I've been lugging to gigs now for about a year with no ill effects.

Customer Support : 1
Orla customer support seems non-existent. No responses to my emails. No on-line support.

Overall Rating : 10
If lost or stolen I would definitely replace it with another KX980 or Orla KX1000.
