It has a bushel and a half knobs. This isn't what makes it rate a 6 though, a decent filter has knobs out the wazoo. Without the manual, it's pretty tough to get any sound at all out of it if you are using it to process an instrument input. Either you need to be patient and lucky with trial and error, or you need the manual as it starts up in MIDI-only mode, you need to poke around in th emenu to find the adjustment, and the display is limited to 2 LED characters. Once you can get it working, and get the CV volume pedal working, it's not any worse than any other filter full o knobbage.

Very wide range of tones and effects possioble through careful tweaking of knobs. Your discoveries can be saved ot memory. 100 preset patches, but I didn't use any of them. Uses MIDI and/or CV pedal.

Nice and quiet, responds well to subtle changes in playing style (used with guitar). The actual effect on your signal sounds good, but honestly not a sgood as the Moogerfooger low pass filter. It is,however, much quieter.

Haven't dealt with them on this item, but I have Emailed Peavey in the past and gotten no response.

I wouldn't replace it, because I am poor and this effect is a luxury. I doubt I would get a deal like this again also. I paid $19 for it, new in box but without power supply. Certainly worth it at this price.

Extemely easy to operate. A knob for everything. For me, its one easy piece of gear to drive. Never even looked at a manual.

I has everything I need for crazy filtering. I also own a Filter Factory and while I will never let that go, I cannot part with the Peavey either. The features are just too cool on this unit and it has its own sound flavor. Wonderful!! Has eleven 1/4" jacks on the back for everything from you could imagine. More features than I will ever need.

The sound is outrageously cool. Does great smooth filter sweeps and gives your sound a whole new dimension. Very quiet and nice liquidy organic sounding filter. It amazes me with power and juicy auditory fun!! No complaints here!!

Built to last forever. Really this is the kind of nice metal housing that never reminds you of the good old days. It has never glitched out on me and always does what I tell it to. The knobs are rock solid and feel great.

This was a great buy for me. Much nicer than I expected and not too hard to find, although it took me a while. I play all kinds of music and this valuable piece will never leave my studio. If it was stolen, I would try to find another one even tho I have other filters. I really think this one is pretty unique and holds its own compared to Electrix and I also own a Waldorf 4-Pole. I love good filters more than anything because you can take any old tone and make it into something interesting and useful. Very inspiring and creative tool.

Really easy to edit, all of the functions have their own knob on the front panel. As long as you are comfortable with how filters and ADSR envelopes work, you should be ok. The system menu is also pretty straightforward as long as you have the manual handy to decode the two letter codes for the functions.

Sounds great. Screw digital modeling, analog always sounds better- this thing sounds deeep and resonant, and really nice. With distortion going into one of the parallel inputs, you get really nice sweeps. Maybe not as nice as the filter factory, but really close- and the midi controllable/ programmable factor is the best pasrt. For this price it is hard, really hard, to find a programmable analog filter. I cant believe peavey discontinued this. I use this on guitar mainly, and without running through a preamp first, I still can get really great triggering response, both with the triggerable ADSR envelope, and the envelope follower. The flexibility of this thing is so high.

Absolutely, I've hauled it around a ton of places, and it has never had a problem. Very happy with it.

Never emailed them, but they have the manuls etc. online, which I think is really important for discontinued models.

I play live electronica, using a guitar through a bunch of analog boxes to get synthy sounds, and this thing is the most useful piece of gear I own. What more can I say? If I lost it, I'd be screwed cuz theyre really hard to find.
A couple of quick gripes- I wish you could program the trigger mode into each patch, i.e. whether triggering with midi, analog ADSR trigger, or envelope follower. Multiple inputs are great, but an fx loop would save me having to use a signal splitter, but thats really minor, and actually the way they have it si more flexible. No LFO, which I don;t mind, considering the other envelope controllers onboard, and no distortion, which would have been useful, but oh well.
Overall I love this box, and haven't seen any other box to rival it, really, as far as functionality.

Ten overall because this thing really does what its supposed to and much more. It is so cool to phatten up your sounds. It will take a cheapo synth and make it sound really awesome. For the money, it was a STEAL!!
