Ease of Use : 10
plug in & play.

Features : 10
it's electric not electronic. tone bars & pickups, so no digital limitations. apparently theres a couple w/ midi that were special built, but it's not a standard feature.

Expressiveness/Sounds : 10
it either sounds like a rhodes or you got a busted key.

Reliability : 10
it's built like a tank & performs it's simple function perfectly.

rhodes has been out of the loop for a while. i heard rumurs of it being resurrected. theres some websites out there with pointers & what not but i've never tried to aquire parts.

Overall Rating : 10
there was a rhodes 73 sitting on stage @ a gig. so i thru my synth on top & gave it a spin. fell in love instantly. most of the rhodes i've seen are beat to hell but still sound awesome. i found mine in damn near mint condition. no amp attached but it still sounds sweet & a guitar box does a healthy job of tweaking the sound.

i goto the rhodes with any ideas i may have. great piece of gear for jamming out melodies, progressions & it compliments other instruments well. i love playing the thing. fingers just glide off the keys. very responsive & a sweet feel.

i'm thinking of buying another for live so i can keep my 88 in the studio.

plug it in. play. Pretty simple

well, you can change the bass and volume levels, but that is about it. If you press the sustain pedal, that's right, the notes sustain. It sounds different than you might think though. The sounds mush together really nicely. Listen to the opening of "riders on the storm" by the doors. That is a great example of how the sustain is cool.

Expressiveness/Sounds : 10
The rhodes will make one sound. But you can alter that sound by changing the position of the tine in relation to the pickup. Yes, this is kind of a pain, but not as bad as one would thing. This allows you to fine tune the sound, from smooth and mellow to dirty and funky.

Reliability : 10
there is really nothing that can go wrong with the Rhodes. If everything is plugged in and wired properly then nothing should go wrong. If you drop the rhodes you should be more worried about what you dropped the rhodes on than the rhodes itself.

none, but there are many internet sources available

Overall Rating : 10
I love this keyboard, despite the fact that it is a neverending pain in the ass. You need two people or a hand truck to move it, it's huge, and mine smells kind of funny. I'm not really worried about it getting stolen, because it would take one hell of a strong burglar to make off with it. I hope it doesn't get stolen, I couldn't live without it. The thing sounds better than anything else I have ever played
